Blacknoise NoiseBlocker NB-eLoop: My favorite PC fan ;)
SD15 with 50/1.4a ISO100 f/2.2 1/30sec SPP: Auto
I cut two holes near the top of the cabinet back. The IKEA cabinets (Vika Alex) are made of chipboard and are easy to cut with a hole-saw or jigsaw. I used a scrolling jigsaw. Drilled some mounting holes and screwed the fans in place with the screws that came with the fans. By putting them up high like this they extract the warmest air and pull fresh cool air in from the gaps at the front. The fans are Rocketfish (from Bestbuy) about $10 each, draw about 2W each at 12 volts. I wired them with a small power-supply I had leftover in my junk box. They are whisper quiet, you really cant hear them running at all. I am always a little dubious of CFM ratings but they do the job - says 17 CFM at 1.75 inches of water
A very dusty (and therefore considered neglected...) case fan (a case-side fan, blowing in, in this installation...) by Antec, seen while the computer was under upgrade. Taken by a Nikon FE with a Micro-Nikkor 55mm ƒ 3.5 AI lens on Kodak Portra 400 film.
A busy day at work (but not in work) so a bit of a nothing shot today.
I mentioned that I recased the computer, and this particular case has this whopping 140mm fan in the front panel of the case.
The thing is, there's also a fan in the back, and I don't have a power splitter for the fan, so this one is unpowered at the moment.
This doesn't seem to have any effect on performance and other fans aren't running at any kind of pace, so I'm minded to leave it well alone. Let's see how things are in August. ;)

And what do we mean by raucous support? Yes, it's a noisy fan!
One of the devices we have in work is a DVD duplicator, which is basically just a big tower case with eight optical drives in, one reader and seven writers.
It's quite old now (the drives are IDE!) but it still works very well. Gradually though it's been getting louder and louder as one of the fans is clearly knackered.
I did some diagnostic work today to see what was going on. There are three fans - two in the case and one in the PSU. The case fans don't seem to be thermally modulated and run at full chat the whole time. Unsurprisingly it's one of these that's knackered.
This handy pic will remind me of the product code when I come to order the replacement!
Second rear 80mm case fan, seen from the inside of the computer (blows out...) Taken after about 3 years of almost 24/7 usage. Taken by a Nikon D40x with an 18-55mm Nikon non-VR kit lens. (at 46) Cropped. camera's on-board flash fired.
Neglected, needs cleaning! (which it got, after the picture was shot...)
Dead 80mm case fan still installed in one of my computers in Albany, CA.. My guess as to the reason for failure is that a dust accumulation (not visible in this shot, take my word for it!) stopped the fan, and that burnt out the motor. Taken by a Nikon D40x at ISO 200 with a Nikon 18-55mm non-VR kit lens (at 55)
I was shocked to see the case's rear fan was the exact same model as the fans I had purchased a few years ago.
One (of two...) rear 80mm case fans (blows out...) on my Main (of three...) computer, seen while the computer was shutdown (it normally runs 24/7) for a hard drive replacement. Taken in Albany, CA by a Nikon D40x with an 18-55mm Nikkor non-VR kit lens. (at 46)
It was cheaper for me to buy a four-pack of fans than it was to buy one fan. I used one when building my PC a few years ago and had three fans left.
Even though this build should run fairly cool, I decided to install a front intake fan. Can't hurt.
Neglected 80mm case-side fan from my main computer (I have 3...) seen after (roughly...) three years of almost continuous 24/7 service, still working!. Taken by a Nikon D40x with an 18-55mm Nikkor non-VR kit lens. (at 46)
This BTW, is BEFORE I blew out the fan!
I installed two be quiet silent wings 2 120mm fans as exhaust. One in the rear and one in the roof. Both will run at 5V.

Yay for Friday again!
This is a shot of my new case fan I got from Newegg today. It's supposed to have 4 white LEDs, but 1 appears to be out :\ (top left). I hope this will add some color to my case (more than just plain blue (as you can see in the background) and should quiet things down a notch.
Lighting: HVL-F58AM fired wirelessly about 3 feet away. Bounced off of a wall. Slowed the shutter speed and messed with the lighting so that it would freeze the blades a tad while show the rotation and awesome orange lighting!
Hope everyone has an awesome weekend!
