River Dargle Flood Defence Scheme.
These images were taken during the fourth week of September, 2016.
Between the M11 motorway, and the Upper Dargle Road / Hazelwood areas, a stream has run for many years. As well as running from the Fassroe region (west above the M11) this also funnels much of the water run-off from the motorway itself.
There is a culvert running under the road and draining directly into the river opposite The Slang/Rehills. A branch also runs parallel and through the Egan Business Park before exiting under the road and into the Dargle close to what is identified in historic Ordnance Survey maps as 'Rose Cottage - Laundry'.
There are plans to lay a proper pipe system to channel this water directly across to the Dargle. No doubt a welcome relief to householders along this stretch of road, given that their properties have been victim to the flash flooding that is happening more often due to changes in the meteorlogical systems, compounded by developments on the opposite side of the motorway.
The downside of this work is the removal of many trees here, and the consequent unwelcome exposure to said properties.
nGFX created this famous Stahl House for Cuusoo. You can support the project if you like the house, it will help: lego.cuusoo.com/ideas/view/8430 The Case Study House 22 is one of the most famous houses in Los Angeles. nGFX could really capture the open spirit of the house with the mountain view. Rendering took about 1h30 min for this 850+ piece building.
I was asked if I had any good pictures of cased images, and realised that the existing images I had online of this wonderful piece - www.flickr.com/photos/whatsthatpicture/sets/7215762621801... - did not show it in its case, so this is just rectifying that omission.
Found at Big Lots for $10. These are really cute and well made. They sell these at toys r us as well but they cost more there.
Bought this carry case to keep dolly things in. It has an elegant and vintage feel yet it is brand new. It was half price so also a bargain :-)
Edna is not used to wearing pretty dresses but I think this one suits her. Maybe she will wear pretty dresses more in future.

Here's two engine case nuts (located on top). A before and after the grinder and wave of sandblasting with aluminum oxide. Quite the difference. Again, clear coat or paint?

If John D. Rockefeller was still living in his Ormond Beach retirement home called The Casements, this is the view he would see across the street. That's the Granada Bridge in the background. The Casements, now a cultural center/ museum, is located at the corner of Granada Blvd. and John Anderson Dr. in Ormond Beach, Florida.
Rockefeller wanted to live to be 100 years old and asked his doctors where he could go where the air was conducive to living longer. They recommended Ormond, and Rockefeller almost made his goal!

"We had a series of skits, put on by the fraternities and sororities. I don’t know how it ever befell on my responsibility, but I had the job of rehearsing and directing those fraternity and sorority skits. I began working with it around Thanksgiving and every night from then until the Christmas party I met in the gymnasium of Jefferson Hall, and we rehearsed skits.”

"Charlie Duke [College Bursar] was the ‘Lord of Misrule,’ and he served as the master of ceremonies and introduced the various skits and banged the floor with a great staff and really had a great time serving as the boss of the whole affair. After the skits had been performed and paraded and the winners chosen, there was dancing until 2:00 or 3:00 in the morning.”

"At midnight, Mr. Bryan and chief members of
the faculty paraded to the stage and witnessed
a floor show put on by various fraternities and sororities; each group’s performance could only last about seven minutes. It all had to be over within an hour. There was a prize given; great refreshments were served in the other rooms.”
