The pain is really based on the incision in my hand healing. I can open my hand, but when I reach the point of needing muscles or room the stretch it starts to hurt. My wrist is still slightly black and blue, but it is feeling much better.
I can shower and wash the wound, but I have to keep in a dry during the day. I enjoyed going 5 days without a shower. Its something I can't remember the last time I did. I did sneak in a haircut and get an shampoo at the halfway point.
Looking at my hand I feel like a stunt double for Frankenstein. I can observe it objectively without a problem. When I start to think of it as "my" hand, it starts to weird me out in my head.
I'll be wearing this thing a bunch now. It tingles throughout my hand, including the pinky, so it may not be carpal tunnel. Or it could be CT + something else, nice! Hopefully it'll clear up in a few days after the chiseling is over.

It makes writing more tolerable, perhaps even enjoyable. The thicker barrel and rubber grip makes for a more comfortable fit for people suffering from either of these problems. It has a Black Cherry acrylic finish polished to a glossy sheen. Uses a Parker style refill

I have been told I have Carpal tunnel, and have to wear this wrist brace all day for 4-6 weeks.. In pain too, so taking painkillers to try and manage it.. Been referred to the hand surgeon so hopefully have it sorted before too long!
eh, kind of orangey in the scan. follow-up to www.flickr.com/photos/secagle/2655183000/in/set-721576065...
2 Day after, 1 1/2 week (I had an allergic reaction to the glue they used to seal me up), 2 1/2 week, and 3 1/2 week.
The healing is way too slow for me... But I am trying to follow instruction with care. Bone growth stimulator for 4 hours per day. Neck braces while driving or while in a car. Hand brace at night while I sleep ... and a whole lot of careful and boring the rest of the time... But My hands work and I can feel the buttons on my camera again!
Thank you all for your prayer, thoughts, and well wishes. Love to each of you... and I shall return!

Here are my scars from the open carpal tunnel surgery I had four and six weeks ago. The scars themselves aren't very big (or very visible). These red splotches are from the peeling skin that is common from the healing of this surgery. (I have to lotion them a couple times a day and massage them as well).
My left hand (six weeks) is pretty good. I still have moments of weakness in my grip, but for the most part, I'm back to normal with that one. (I mouse with that hand). If I'm using it too much, then it gets a somewhat tired-soreness to it.
My right hand (four weeks) is still sore when I try to grip anything. I have a weak grip in that hand, but I can at least open my own bottles and such now. I still wear a soft brace when I have to do things (like drive or whatnot, things that require sustained use of my hands). My thumb, index, and middle finger are still numb-tingly and I can't feel anything at all in my index fingertip and the tip of my thumb. I can feel half on my middle fingertip.
All the post-op instructions say that it can take anywhere from three to twelve months to fully recover. As long as I can grip my camera and handle the mouse for my RAW files, then I'll be happy.
A moment's hitch on the seat sent my pedalling knee into the bar, and locked the wheel & over I went at @ 10 mph. Reflex put my hands before my head & only soft tissue, not bone, took the brunt. Coarse new broken stone pavement dug towards bone, but I slid instead of snapping things.
Six year old carpal tunnel scars stood up well, running above & below the half dollar sized 'oopses'. Nothing to stitch back, just grow back.
I'm smiling 'cause high wheel 'headers' often are worse..like game over... '~'.
My glasses somehow stayed on. Hi wheel pals, 1/4 mile ahead, only heard my small "ai!" , as momentum, inertia & gravity took over. The rider is 'swatted' with the wheel's turn from a height of eight-ish feet to the hard pavement, headfirst, in less than a heartbeat. Small wonder the Big wheels are 'extinct' and the modern 'safety' bikes swiftly took over.
Unicycles, of any height are waay safer, though less stylish and less comfy for distances.
Tall bikes, well, are hard to resist, plus you can coast, & knees, handlebars & pedals can't clash...as much.....
Happy July 4th, 1994 !
Last night's dinner: spinach greens with raw beets and amazing kick ass Rosemary Dressing.
This salad was delicious, but practically gave me carpal tunnel with all of the chopping. In fact, I'm a little miffed that out of all of the websites I've visited, and all the YouTube videos I've watched, not one person has mentioned that eating a raw food diet should come with a warning label.
"Beware, eating raw foods could cause hand cramping and carpal tunnel from all of the damn chop chop chopping, and the slicing, and the dicing, and the mincing. "

The Intellivision Hand Controller is one of the most reviled controllers in the world of video games. It’s almost as if it was designed by a group of parents who were concerned that their children spent too much time playing games, so they made a controller that would cause physical pain after roughly 30 minutes of play. There’s a sliding disc at the bottom, two buttons on each side, and a big number pad (With overlay support) in the middle. The problem is, I’ve never actually found a way to hold this controller that makes any sense. There’s nowhere to hold it so that you can use the disc comfortably. The buttons are rubbery and mushy and you never really know when you’ve pressed them, and they force you to hold the controller in an awkward way. For those who’ve never experienced what it’s like to use an Intellivision controller, imagine trying to use an oversized iPhone as a game controller, with the volume buttons as your main action buttons and the “Home” button as your control pad. And to top it off, the Intellivision controller is hardwired into the system, so you can’t get a third party controller that doesn’t suck. The Intellivision inspired a number of other controllers, including the Atari 5200 and the ColecoVision, but those controllers solved the problem by moving the disc to the top of the controller and replacing it with a joystick that could be gripped, making them far easier to use.
Don’t get me wrong, the Intellivision is an undisputed classic system, but if you want to play any of the games for it, you’re far better off picking up the latest Intellivision Lives! compilation and playing it on something like XBox Live Arcade or the DS. That way you won’t need wrist surgery next month.

Struggling with tingling/burning/numbness in my hands, sometimes arm for over a week and thinking I was doomed . . . somewhat happy to find out it is a bad case of carpal tunnel in my right hand and a moderate case in my left. Without realizing it, I have had a mild case for years, finally have started working out every day lifting weights stressed it to the breaking point. I had no idea carpal tunnel could be this painful- the brace is helping and most of the numbness, etc is gone.
So . . . for six weeks I am not to type, sew or really do anything I enjoy. Hope to finish little projects, but hand work will be out! Ughhhh.

Today, I is for Ink! You still have time to join in on February's Alphabet Fun for 2016!
My ink just happens to be accompanied by five stitches in a somewhat new incision and some epic bruises from my most recent open carpal tunnel release surgery. (in the background- my wrist brace and "hand-sock" the occupational therapist gave to me).
I finally had the operation to fix my Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and it's healing well. This is 10 days after the operation. I can use my hand again for most things. Squeezing is still hard to do but it's getting better each day.
I am so glad i had it done. It only took them 10 minutes to do the surgery and I was awake for the whole thing as well. It has taken me a week to heal and I get the stitches out tomorrow.

Operation cake made for a Plastics & Reconstructive Surgery team. Cake was designed with some surgeries seen with the team, and incisions were made following some techniques used by the plastics surgeons for accuracy.
Fun fact- in abdominal plastic surgery, the umbilicus is saved and after the procedure is nearly complete, the umbilicus is brought out and sutured back into place for cosmetic purposes. My Operation Patient had the same treatment- her umbilicus was removed and reattached for maximal accuracy. Other details are anatomically correct. Pt is holding a moon in her hand for a plastic surgeon (who specialized in Hand) in the practice.
