I took this during the race at Silverstone. Hadn't planned on taking photos during the race and it's also quite difficult as on race day it's allocated seating and we had chosen seats for viewing enjoyment rather than photos! All my other shots of the F1 are taken in practice and qualifying sessions, mostly from the back of grandstands where I won't be blocking someone's view, stood up panning.
However, during the race there was a point where Charles Leclerc was in 1st and Carlos Sainz in 2nd. I thought this was a bit of a once in a lifetime photo opportunity for a Ferrari fan like me and I did have my camera with me. They were like this for about 5 laps I think, so after a couple of laps I took my camera out, put it in crop mode to get 480mm out of the lens and tried a few shots as they came around the bend. This is what I got. Taken sitting down which is not easy and I have a lot of respect for motorsport photographers who are unable to stand yet get some great panning shots.
In hindsight I wish I'd slowed the shutter slightly to 1/320s or 1/250s to get a little bit more tyre blur but I was more concerned with getting a sharp shot.
A few laps later and pitstops changed everything. Sainz went on to win and Leclerc finished in 4th, which is pretty good considering his front wing end plate got knocked off at the start of the race and it's such a downforce reliant track.
Thanks very much for viewing and reading that if you got to the end!
A blast from the past! In my younger days I used to follow the World Rally Championship, especially the NZ round of the event.
This is a shot of Carlos Sainz ('El Matador') in his ST165 Toyota Celica GT4.
From memory he won the event and the championship that year,
This is a scan from the original 35mm negative I still have from the event. A further practice of scanning 35mm film negatives!

Here's my LEGO rendition of the 2022 Ferrari F1-75, which was raced by Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz. The 2022 Formula One World Championship saw a major change of the technical regulations, with the reintroduction of ground effect aerodynamics and restriction of radical designs. These changes were implemented with the intention to reduce an F1 car's wake of turbulent air (aka "dirty air") that disturbs the aerodynamic flow of following cars, thus allowing for closer racing and more overtaking.
The F1-75 proved to be competitive at the beginning of the 2022 season, taking 2 wins, 2 poles, 3 fastest laps, and 5 podiums in the first 3 races. However, unreliability and a downturn in performance (especially after the FIA's Technical Directive 39 which was targeted at reducing porpoising) in the latter half of the season resulted in Red Bull winning both the drivers and constructors championships with relative ease.
This approximately 1:15 scale LEGO creation was probably the most difficult F1 car I've built to date. The design of this car is quite a departure from the previous F1 cars I've built, so I had to approach this build with a blank slate. The sidepods and engine cover shaping of the F1-75, which some have likened to a bathtub, is very organic and unique. Recreating this was by far the most challenging aspect of this creation. I hope I have done this car justice as it is one of the coolest F1 cars in terms of design in my opinion. A big thanks goes to Steve Hall (Instagram: @stevehallego) for making the stickers that help recreate the livery.

A blast from the past! In my younger days I used to follow the World Rally Championship, especially the NZ round of the event.
This is a shot of Carlos Sainz ('El Matador') in his ST165 Toyota Celica GT4, early morning and getting ready to start the first stage of the day. These top international drivers weren't easy to get close to but I managed to sneak this shot and was always pleased with it, especially the concentration on his face.

Porem, Orlando Terranova, Mikko Hirvonen, Nani Roma, Nasser Al Attiyah, Xevi Pons,
Baja Aragon 2016 started today from Teruel with the prologue stage, where Barreda in
bikes and Al Attiyah in cars clinched victory
Edition number 33 of Baja Aragón took its start yesterday from Teruel, to race the prologue
stage, the first one of the three stages that compose the event.
The special, with a total of 9,5 kilometers, changed its location this year to go to
Valdecebro,
and its results decide the starting order for Saturday stages.
In cars, Nasser Al Attiyah was the fastest, with a total time of 05:50.02, with a Toyota he
clearly dominates perfectly.
The surprise of the day was Spanish Xevi Pons, three times winner of the National Rally
Championship, who jumped to the second position, over Nani Roma, Carlos Sáinz and
Mikko Horvonen.
According to FIA regulations, that allow the 10 first drivers to choose their starting
position, the final order for tomorrow stayed this way: Ricardo
Porem, Orlando Terranova, Mikko Hirvonen, Nani Roma, Nasser Al Attiyah, Xevi Pons,
Carlos Sáinz, Joao Ramos, Leal de los Santos, and Alejandro Martins.
In motorbikes, Joan Barreda scored the best time in his comeback to Baja Aragon with
06:00.2, followed by Gerard Farrès, 2.6 seconds away, and De Soultrait.
Kolomy clinched victory in trucks, followed by Macik and Sabaté.
62 cars took the start, and also 64 motorbikes and quads, and 8 trucks.
I'm finally back with another new LEGO creation - the Ferrari SF21 which was raced by Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz during the 2021 Formula 1 season. I actually finished building this car in August 2021 but I have only just now gotten around to taking photos.
Compared to the its predecessor, the SF21 has a revised nose, reshaped sidepods/engine cover, trimmed floor (due to new regulations), and more complex bargeboards. Every year I try to make build the Ferrari F1 car better than the previous one; I hope I have done the SF21 justice.
