Carl wark is a rocky promontory on Hathersage moor in the Peak District National park. The promontory is faced by vertical cliffs on all but one side, which is protected by a prehistoric embankment. The cliffs and embankment form an enclosure that has been interpreted as an Iron age hillfort perhaps dating from the 8th to the 5th centuries BC. It has been described as being unlike any other found in Northern England.

1of 5 new for my album Marstrand. Take a look !
Marstrand is a seaside locality on the Swedish west-coast. It had 1,319 inhabitants in 2010 and has held city privileges since 1200. The most striking feature about Marstrand is the 17th-century fortress Carlsten, named after King Carl X Gustav of Sweden. The town got its name from its location on the island Marstrandsön.
During the last quarter of the 18th century Marstrand had the free port status, granted by the King Gustav III. Marstrand is a popular sailing resort in summer time with many sailing competitions.

Walking through London came across Carl practising his jumps. I had my own entertainment.... what a cool lad
Another photo from Carl Wark.
There was still some misty atmosphere looking towards Padley Gorge so I started looking in that direction for compositions. The early light on the bracken and rocks looked too nice to ignore.

A back lit view of the Iron Age Hill Fort in Burbage valley.
When I'd first arrived, this area had no fog so I spent most of my time shooting towards the inversion in Hope Valley. I eventually worked my way back to this view as the mist rose up after sunrise. this was taken just in time. Moments later, I was engulfed in the fog.
I think I saw the back of Pete Quinn's head. He looked busy so I didn't say hello. I've never met him, but I saw his photo. Pete was more patient than me and caught the moment the mist started to form over Burbage Valley...
Carl Wark (sometimes Carl's Wark) is a rocky promontory on Hathersage Moor in the Peak District National Park, just inside the boundary of Sheffield, England. The promontory is faced by vertical cliffs on all but one side, which is protected by a prehistoric embankment. The cliffs and embankment form an enclosure that has been interpreted as an Iron Age hill fort, though the date of construction and purpose of the fortifications remains unknown. The site is a scheduled monument.....This is the view towards Higger tor

The first light of the day on Carl Wark looking to Higger Tor.
I thought I'd better get out (mainly for a walk) before the heat builds back up.
