While waiting for a clear shot of the Torii Gates at the Fushimi Inari Shrine in Kyoto, I saw this loving couple with the gentleman tenderly guiding the lady through the gate. It is such a beautiful sight that I had to get a snapshot of this couple. While I did not get any clear shot of the gate, I was delighted to be able to come away with this photo.

I still having trouble with my internet connection, BT are sending an engineer on Wednesday morning, so finger cross they will finally find the fault, I am using a mobile dongle thingy, but the reception is pretty poor, so I will try and catch up with you all, as soon as I can :))

Beautiful gerberas. They are so photogenic with their simple forms and delicate, intricate centres. But like all flowers, they're fragile and only live if they're handled with care and looked after lovingly.

After much love and care for over 4 years, one of my air plants has finally bloomed! 😃

Well, to my surprise, I just learned that air plants only bloom once in their lifetime. 😥

Once blooming is over, baby air plants will be produced, and they will eventually mature into their own “adult” air plant. 😊

Such a beautiful circle of life! 💖

PS: I recognize it's not the best photo. The light was flat yesterday, but I am too lazy to take another one today. Indoor flower macro shots are not easy to take IMO; I applaud all the macro photographers out there! 👏👏👏

Macro Mondays -- theme "Handle"

This is the handle from a glass cream jug, part of a sugar bowl/creamer set that belonged to my mother. The latter part makes it very precious to me. :-)

Having photographed this operation numerous times it was always a joy to see the care used in maintaining these units well into the UP era. This shot was taken in March 2000 and look at how clean these units are. The mechanical staff at Helper really took great care of these units.

For Macro Mondays - Handle With Care

A 1.5mm high intensity laser beam that needs to be handled with care, it can burn! I used a small smoke machine to highlight the beam.

We live on a creek that has had so many sewage spills it is unreal our governing bodies just don't seem to care! This was taken on a day while boating and the reflections were beautiful, it is hard to imagine what we have done and are still doing to it!

We have a lot of deer living in the neighborhood. Too many really. Every once in a while one comes through that's worth taking a picture of. He didn't stick around too long after he saw my camera but I managed a few pictures.

Self care does not always have to be big, expensive or complicated. I have learned that less is often more.

Sometimes, it is as simple as stepping outside, breathing in the evening air, and watching the sunset. Just letting myself soak in the present moment.

There is something deeply calming about watching the sun set by the sea. As the sky softens into shades of gold and rose, and the waves gently meet the shore, the world seems to quiet down.

With the rhythmic sound of the ocean, the salty air, and the cool breeze brushing against my skin, it feels like nature is reminding me to breathe again.

My thoughts begin to slow. The weight on my chest and shoulders lifts just a little. And in that stillness, I feel my soul begin to soften.

There is something truly healing about moments like these, the way the sky shifts through colors, like it is learning to let go of the day with grace.

It does not ask anything of me. It just is. And in that silence, I find a kind of inner peace and a quiet contentment that is hard to put into words.

So if the day feels heavy or my mind is tired, I remind myself to be gentle. Sometimes all I need is to step outside and watch the sky. Let the sunset hold space for me. It is a small act of self care, but it does so much good for my mind, heart, and soul.

I deserve moments like that. 🌅💛So does everyone else too..

I was after the bee, but I'm glad he landed on these flowers. Aeonium arboreum, the tree aeonium, tree houseleek, or Irish rose, is a succulent, subtropical subshrub in the flowering plant family Crassulaceae.

It is an invasive weed in places outside its natural distribution, for example as a garden escape throughout temperate southern Australia.

It's not a plant I'd want in my garden, if I had a garden, and not because it's invasive, but because I don't particularly care for whatever that green/yellow color is called. As I said, I was after the bee, and it was extremely difficult seeing it against a thousand flowers through the relatively small viewfinder.

(Just noticed. I also have three ants as a hangers on. Can you find them?)
