Recently I've been running into some really nice cars (figuratively not literally). This Pumpkin Orange Bentley was parked at Neiman Marcus Valet Parking at Scottsdale Fashion Square. My best guess is a 2014 Bentley Continental GT Speed Convertible. I think the color is actually Sunburst Gold. Any correction will be appreciated.

Bentley finally pays off its Continental promissory note with the delivery of a GTC Speed for 2014 to round out its V8 and Base W12 offering. Pounding out the same 616 ponies and 590 lb-ft/torque through the same 8-speed ZF shiftable automatic as every other Speed variant, the GTC Speed predictably and most noticeably differs from its hard-topped brethren in its 9 cubic feet for cargo, shared with the rest of the convertible lineup. Otherwise the GTC continues into 2014 much as it entered 2013, completely missing out on the coupe's Le Mans celebrations.

Touted by Bentley's chairman as the world's fastest 4-seat soft-top "designed for those who accept no compromise," this GTC Speed is technically a second-generation edition come early. New engine management computers together with Audi's transmission tech reportedly improve fuel economy by as much as 15% over the first-generation GT Speed's—which would calculate out to 12 mpg city/20 highway over the previous version's 11/18, or the same as any regular GT with the W12 by the latest estimates. This one, too, is flex-fuel capable, but expect a 5-10 mpg drop in efficiency.

Special car

Here is a shot of the Datsun 510 wagon I drove during my high school years. I had just completed repairs after being hit in the rear end. Notice the green right rear fender waiting to be repainted. It is the same car that is in my photostream here.

In 1982, I was at the intersection of Halls Ferry road and South Frontage in Vicksburg Mississippi. It was raining and the roads were slick. A Toyota corolla diver failed to yield a left turn on green and turned in front of me. I had to brake hard to avoid hitting the Toyota . However, I was hit in the back by two teenage children driving a then brand new Buick Regal.

The Toyota continued but stopped 200ft up the frontage road. My guess was, they wanted to make sure we were all right but, they didn't want anyone to see a license plate. They took off after about 1 minute. I sincerely felt bad for the two boys in the Buick because I didn't view the accident as being their fault. Since they hit me, in the eyes of the law, it is considered their fault.

The police came and took their reports and then took my report. I then left the scene because I had no intention of making the boys pay for my car.

20 years later, I learned the rest of the story. I met one of the two boys at the Oxford Mississippi mall. He was working in a restaurant I went to eat at. He told me that shortly after I had left, the Toyota tried to sneak past the intersection to "Get Back Home." Evidently the 1st rule for sneaking home is to "Turn your lights off at night". A Toyota Corolla driving through an intersection with out lights got the attention of the police on the scene. The police chased the Toyota down and the driver confessed to causing the accident.

This photograph shows the 510 after the body damage was repaired but, before the final painting of the fender. As it turned out, the fender had been hit and repaired once before. I purchased all parts from salvage yards.

Notice the silver painted wheels. I took some criticism for "Tacky painted wheels" However, if you have limited funds, silver wheels are better than rusty dirty brown.

This car's history impressed me to continue making Datsun/Nissan my vehicle of choice.

My parents purchased the car for $400. I later found out that it was caught in a flood that took place in the Hamilton Hights subdivision. Although there were rust spots, the car was still in great condition.

I drove it for several years then passed it on to my oldest brother Richard. He drove the car for several years after that. He passed the car to his good friend Bob Smith. Bob passed it to one of his construction workers.

The career of this 510 sadly ended in 1984 when it was stolen and the thief attempted to outrun the police.

It was a very powerful and peppy car. The only major repair I remember having to do was to replace the front struts.

On LUGNuts, the Big Rafalski introduced a wonderfully addictive game for car- crazy people. Get a question right and you go up. Get one wrong and you drop down again. In the first levels a good answer gets you three points. In higher levels just one. I managed to get my score up to 153 at one point, but kept falling back to 150. At 150 they start asking not just the brand and type (yes, I know this happens to be an Audi A3), but also the year in which it was built. That was a bridge too far. Do you know the difference between a Citroen 2CV of 1976 and 1979? I don't.

I made this picture when I dropped down to 150 again, for about the 20th time, by actually printing what my flash player was showing to pdf and then converting it. There must be an easier way.

imagined coupe based on the 7 series of the time. BMW did actually make a big coupe in 1989 that has more than passing similarity... much lower/spotier front though..

The 2018 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE virtually one-ups the standard ZL1, making it the “most track-capable Camaro ever.” What’s going on? Chevrolet revealed the all-new track-focused Camaro ZL1 1LE, an upgraded version of the already insanely capable Camaro ZL1. And yes, if you were thinking of it as a more intense Camaro ZL1, you’d pretty …
