A flat car battery gave me the perfect opportunity to photograph this weeks macro Monday …. Every cloud :)
I used a wide angle lens with a 13mm extension tube to get close.

These were the other two photos that I considered for the Macro Mondays Sidelit theme... I would have had to crop the pots quite a lot, but I like the way the texture really shows up on them. And I think the graphic on the one I ended up using is way more interesting than the familiar Recycle graphic here.

This must be from the same owner. The make and model appear to be the same, but the color is different. Also, the batteries look different.
This shoots all day and recycles fast shooting two 150ws and one 300ws flashpoint strobes. I'll get a smaller battery to cut down on the weight for shorter shoots. But beats using a generator with that E10 crap.
Here is one of the other shots I did last October for Grenade Face. This was a ton of fun, as we were granted access to Fright Nights here at the South Florida Fairgrounds and were able to use one of the rooms from a haunted house as the location!
No people were harmed in the making of this photo!

This has been sitting here for almost thirty years, so it's not like it's going to explode. I just need a day I have the time to do it.
Check out the camera make and model!! I found I could change the EXIF data on my new computer. I had previously looked into programs to do this, but they were very complicated (or expensive) I downloaded one of the free ones, but couldn't figure it out.

This has been on the calendar for awhile now so on Friday I picked up two new Honda car batteries, one for each car.
Heading into winter I figured it would be a good time to retire them both as they were each 8+ years old which is obviously a pretty good service life.
Thank goodness for Sue's small hands which saved the day retrieving one of the hold down mounting hooks which fell deep inside her car's engine compartment! :0)
With this step I declare both cars ready for winter...this coupled with the preventative maintenance performed over recent months.
It is no guarantee nothing will happen, but at least we have updated some major points of common failure, especially the ones cold winter weather can provoke.
515 556 at the Bochum-Dahlhausen Railroad Museum.
232 of these battery powered railcars were built from 1953 till 1965, originally the DB wanted to take them out of service in the early 1980's. In the end they were taken out of service in 1995.
Only 2 of the 515's still exist and this is the only one in running condition. Two other 515's were converted to DMU's.
Changing a defective battery on a 2007-2014 Ford Mondeo is a relatively easy process and should be well in the capability of a home mechanic.
The only tricky bit is the removal of the large air cleaner assembly as shown here to gain access and to remove the battery although even that is not as difficult as it looks.
This is my rather grubby 2013 Ford Mondeo Titanium X Duratorq TDCi engine bay which unlike the exterior has never been cleaned after 120,000 miles from new.
The battery was the original from new and lasted 4 years, 7 months and 18 days from first registration. Not too bad considering the tough life this vehicle has as a stop start Hackney Carriage taxi.
Note the waterproof duct tape around the nearside headlight seal. This is to prevent the ingress of water and condensation inside the headlight assembly. A common problem on this generation of Mondeo.
Starting the new year by spending money on the car! To be fair, the last battery was the original and lasted 7 years.

… basically the same as the RC-838JW … the difference is super-subtle and related to the AC power supply:
RC-838JW: 120/220/240 VAC 50/60 Hz
RC-838W: 110/220/240VAC 50/60 Hz
both weigh in at 8.1 kg / 17.8 lbs with the batteries.
The JW is more common, as 120 VAC 60 Hz is used in the United States and 220/240 VAC 50 Hz is used in Europe. The 110 VAC model seen here was only specified for a fairly small number of countries.
