While in other countries high-floor buses disappeared from public transport more than 10 years ago, in the Czech Republic we can still meet them, for example, there are still 22 Karosa buses in Brno.

However, last day of regular operation of Karosas in Ostrava was November 7, 2020. In the photo we see the articulated Karosa B941E.1962 on the penultimate day of operation. Concrete bus #4285 was then reassigned to museum collections.

Zatímco v jiných zemích zmizely vysokopodlažní autobusy z MHD před více než 10 lety, v Česku se stále s nimi můžeme setkat, například v Brně jezdí ještě 22 vozů Karosa.

Yesterday, the normal operation of the T6A5 trams ended in Prague and thanks to that they were the center of attention in the transport world, even Austrian spotters shared posts about the T6A5.

T6A5 was produced a total of 296 pieces and to this day we can find them in normal operation in 8 cities and Ostrava is one of them. A total of 38 cars were delivered here, the first two (with Ostrava Airport ad) were decommissioned 2 years ago and 34 cars should still run today.

We can see 5 of them in this photo, documenting the afternoon rush hour in Poruba.

🇨🇿Včera v Praze skončil běžný provoz tramvají T6A5 a ty díky tomu byly v dopraváckém světě středem pozornosti, dokonce i rakouští dopraváci sdíleli příspěvky o T6A5.

T6A5 bylo celkem vyrobeno 296 kusů a dodnes je najdeme v běžném provozu v 8 městech a Ostrava je jedním z nich. Celkem tu bylo dodáno 38 vozů, první dva s CVR na ostravské letiště byly vyřazeny před 2 lety a dodnes by mělo jezdit 34 vozů.

Hned 5 z nich můžeme vidět na této fotce, dokumentující odpolední špičku v Porubě.

This E1 tram has been running through the streets of Vienna for 49 years. The last copies of the E1 can be found on lines 25 and 26, on the opposite bank of the Danube from where the historic core of the city is.

Although this school year was supposed to be the last for the E1, they are still undergoing practice rides for new drivers, also due to the delayed deliveries of the new Bombardier Flexity trams.

1080 got a Kent Christmas wrap in December 2017. Come January, I thought it was gone and 1080 would be back to bold. Today I saw it still in the wrap so I decided to get an other picture!

Tatra T3, the most manufactured tram model in the world according to the Guinness Book of Records, are inseparable from Czech cities. According to the @seznam_autobusu website, there are 50 operating vehicles in Ostrava.

I během poledne proti slunci se může podařit pěkná fotka.

Na ní je jediný dochovaný trolejbus Škoda 6Tr na světě. Bylo vyrobeno celkem 16 kusů - 15 pro Brno a 1 pro Plzeň. Paradoxně ten v majetku @technickemuzeum_brno je právě ten jediný plzeňský. Byl opraven pomocí dílů z vyřazených brněnských 6Tr. Po předání do Brna 25 let sloužil jako statický exponát a byl v tzv. názorném řezu (některé díly karoserie byly sejmuty nebo nahrazeny plexisklem). Až od roku 2003 je znovu pojízdný.

Even during noon against the sun, a nice photo can be achieved.

On the photo there is only surviving Škoda 6Tr trolleybus in the world. A total of 16 pieces were produced - 15 for Brno and 1 for Pilsen. Paradoxically, the one owned by @technickemuzeum_brno is the Pilsen one. It was repaired with parts from discarded Brno 6Tr. After being handed over to Brno, it served for 25 years as a static exhibit and was in the so-called illustrative section (some parts of the body were removed or replaced with plexiglass). It has only been mobile again since 2003.

Czech football fans go in large numbers to the round of 16 of @euro2020 in Budapest. There they can not only have Czech beer, but also take Czech trams.

These are Tatras T5C5. 322 pieces were delivered to Budapest in the years 1978-1984. Cars have doors on both sides, because there are no loops everywhere in the city and instead there are dead ends.

With the exception of 3 prototypes, we can find T5 trams only in Budapest. Instead, T3 and T4 were produced, the T6 series was born later.

Čeští fotbaloví fanoušci jedou ve velkém počtu na osmifinále @euro2020 v Budapešti. Tam si mohou nejen že dát české pivo, ale taky se svézt českými tramvajemi.

Jedná se o Tatry T5C5. Do Budapešti bylo dodáno v letech 1978-1984 322 kusů. Vozy mají dveře na obou stranách, protože ve městě nejsou všude smyčky a místo nich jsou úvratě.

S výjimkou 3 prototypů najdeme tramvaje T5 pouze v Budapešti. Místo něj se vyráběly T3 a T4, řada T6 přišla na svět později.

Halifax Transit 2013 New Flyer Xcelsior XD40 #1175 is seen leaving Mumford terminal on the 22 Armdale.

As you can see it is farily shiny. Our 2013 XD40 buses were the last buses that came in with the old wave livery. Our 2014 and 2015 arrived in bold. Though 1175 is a 2013 it was recently already re done in the current bold livery. Comment and ask any questions you may have.

Halifax Transits 2002 and 2004 D40LFs #1027 and #1039

Both of these buses have the old old yellow and blue stripe wrap. This is the old before the wave livery and after the blue and green stripe wrap.

This livery is very rarely found now. Our 1999 and 2000 NovaBus LFS 2002 , 2004 , 2005 New Flyer D40LFs were all delivered in this livery. As well some of our classics were re-applied with this livery after the blue and green.

Unfortunately the classics are all gone. So are the 1999 and 2000 NovaBus LFS. (bubble buses.)

1027 is seen to the left on layover on block 531 before doing a 16 to the bridge terminal. Unfortunately 1027 is currently part of a dying breed. 1027 will soon be retired.

To the right our 2004 NFI D40LF #1039 is seen sitting at Lacewood at its timepoint for the 52.

It is rare seeing stripe wrap Buses mostly do to repaints but in some cases due to retirements as well.

Yes it is rare to see one bus with this old livery, let alone 2 buses with it together in one spot!

All buses with this livery has had it sense 2005 at the latest as 2006 the wave livery came out.

In a type V metro set from @siemens_mobility, it would theoretically be possible to run 100 meters - the train is 111 meters long and you can go through all wagons.

There are very few buses as old as this one, out of 1001-1032 only 1003,1004,1007,1008,1011,1015,1027,1030,1031,1032 Remain, and maybe even less or none of them if you are reading this at a later date.

Halifax Transit 2010 NovaBus LFS articulated #719 is seen coming into Scotia square on the 1 Spring.

This is on block 723. On our Sundays and Holidays schedule. The block numbers are numbered in 700s. This Burnside 1 is block 723 (23rd bus out of the garage.) 723 is also a Burnside transit centre bus, so they should use bus 723 to fit with the block number.

This year's first rides of historic trams took place on the line around Porubka river, the most interesting line in Ostrava.

Warning: Due to the repair of the bridge over Porubka, the track will be out of operation in July and August, so if you want to go there to take pictures, go there either in June or in September.

Halifax Transits 1.2 Million Dollar 2009 New Flyer not D60LFR but DE60LFR Hybrid #716 is seen on the new 9A branch route.

716 is one of two of these Hybrid Artics. Only two of these were purchased due to the high cost.

This is on the 9A which is a replacement for the old route 19 and route 20. Technically the 9A is a replacement for the 19 is a replacement for the 19, but the 9A is quite different than the 19 was and the 19 never went downtown, only the 20 did.

Halifax Transit 2005 New Flyer D40LF #1070 is seen on a Saturday 52.

1070 is a great bus! It was applied originally with the stripe livery and now the wave, as you can see for some reason the passenger side of 1070 is logo-less, not saying Metro Transit, 1070 has not yet been bold if that ever happens.

It is strange seeing a Ragged Lake bus at bridge terminal in the layover lane. Especially on the weekend when routes 41 and 42 do not run, and pretty much only Burnside standby is at Bridge Terminal because its in Dartmouth.

1144 is laying over before doing a 1. As you may know the old 1 Spring Garden is almost always done by an artic. 40fts are assigned to the route when an artic brakes down, or to fill a late trip on standby but on the odd time you may see a 40ft bus assigned to the 1.

1144 was a standby 1 that's supposed to be block 900 or an artic broke down and 1144 changed it off. I am thinking an artic broke down.

The Vienna underground has a 83 km long network and consists of 5 lines (the sixth line is just beginning to be built and will be automatic, ie without a driver).

In the picture we can see the oldest type of underground vehicle - type U2 made by SGP, car on the photo was made in 1979.

It crosses the Donaubrücke bridge, which was originally used for buses and since 2010 it serves for underground.

After Ferlach, today I will describe second museum tram system in Carinthia (Kärnten) - the Lendcanaltramway in Klagenfurt.

First, the driver comes to depo and pulles the tram out of a extension cord outlet, similar to the one we all have at home. After that, the tram with trailer car goes in reverse to the first stop, where it will take passengers. From there it goes about 700 meters through the forrest to an empty space, where there is nothing (abload.de/img/dsc_0083dxk6c.jpg), only a forest and a static tram, where in the middle there is information about the history of the Klagenfurt tram.

Despite the strange end of the path, the neighborhood itself is interesting — at the beginning of the path there is a canal on which people ride paddleboards, and a little further — Lake Wörthersee, which has nice views.

Po Ferlachu si dnes představíme druhou muzejní tramvajovou trať v Korutanech - Lendcanaltramway v Klagenfurtu.

Nejprve řidič vytáhne tramvaj z prodlužovacího kabelu, podobného tomu, který máme všichni doma. Poté tramvaj s vlečným vozem zařadí zpátečku a jede směrem na první zastávku, kde nabere cestující. Odtam jede asi 700 metrů lesem na prázdné místo, kde není nic (abload.de/img/dsc_0083dxk6c.jpg), jen les a statická tramvaj, kde jsou uvnitř informace o historii tramvají v Klagenfurtu.

I přes podivný konec tratě je samotné okolí zajímavé - na začátku cesty je kanál, na kterém se jezdí na paddleboardech, a o něco dále je jezero Wörthersee, které nabízí pěkné výhledy.

Trams with a trailer car are an integral part of Vienna, they even have their own name - Bim. It is derived from the sound of a tram bell.

On the photo we see a tram passing through an alley on the embankment of Franz Josef.

K Vídni neodmyslitelně patří červené tramvaje s vlečným vozem, ty mají dokonce svůj vlastní název - Bim. Ten je odvozen ze zvuku, který vydává tramvajový zvonek.

Nejzajímavější tramvaj (pardon, šalina) v Česku - parní tramvaj #Caroline z roku 1889.

Pár zajímavých faktů:

- je třeba pozvolna zatopit 4 hodiny předem, než je možné použít první páru. Během té doby spotřebuje topeniště odhadem metr kubický dřeva

- za víkend spotřebuje deset kubíků vody, půl tuny uhlí a nějaké dřevo

- k řízení je zapotřebí mít průkaz k řízení parních lokomotiv a tramvají zároveň

- velká část dílů je původních

Stručně k historii:

Zprvu jezdila Karolínka s cestujícími, ale později vozila spíše náklad, buď ve vlečkách, nebo v areálu Zbrojovky. Během druhé světové války pomáhala odtahovat porouchané vozy a odvážet suť. V roce 1952 byla převedena do muzea a v roce 1969 vyjela po opravě poprvé jak o muzejní exponát.

At first, Karolínka traveled with passengers, but later it drove more cargo, either in sidings or in the Zbrojovka area. During World War II, it helped tow wrecked cars and haul debris. In 1952 it was transferred to the museum and in 1969 it went out after repair for the first time as a museum exhibit.

Since 1894, you can take the cable car to the Schlossberg in Graz. The third generation of the cable car has been running on the mountain since 2004, the route is 201 meters long and overcomes an elevation gain of up to 60%.

Notice the Formula 1 @f1 car at the bottom right. The car of the Red Bull Racing team @redbullracing is not chained to the Schlossberg by accident - only 75 km from the mountain is the Red Bull Ring, which is the home circuit of the team sponsored by the producer of energy drinks.

Již od roku 1894 se můžete svézt lanovkou na Schlossberg v Grazu (Štýrském Hradci). Na hoře jezdí od roku 2004 třetí generace lanovky, trasa je dlouhá 201 metrů a překonává převýšení až 60%.

Všimněte si vozu formule 1 vpravo dole. Vůz týmu Red Bull Racing není přikován na Schlossberg náhodou - pouhých 75 km od hory se nachází závodní okruh Red Bull Ring, který je domovským okruhem právě týmu sponzorovaného výrobcem energetických nápojů.

Today's post will focus on Hungary. Hungary made itself known today thanks to football team @magyarlabdarugovalogatott, who was close to moving from the toughest group to @euro2020 , but despite good performance it did not work out.

In addition to football, Hungary is also known for its Ikarus. These are rather known in the bus version, but in the 70s and 80s of the last century, 161 serial trolleybus Ikarus were delivered to Budapest, both with Russian and local electrical equipment. We can currently find 33 Ikarus 280T in Budapest in regular use. One of them is captured in this photo at the East Station.

Dnešní příspěvek se bude věnovat Maďarsku. To o sobě dalo dnes vědět díky svému fotbalovému týmu @magyarlabdarugovalogatott, který byl blízko od postupu z nejtěžší skupiny na @euro2020, ale navzdory dobrému výkonu to nevyšlo.

Kromě fotbalu je Maďarsko známo i svými Ikarusy. Ty jsou spíše známy v autobusové verzi, ale do Budapešti bylo v 70. a 80. letech minulého století dodáno i 161 sériových trolejbusových Ikarusů, a to jak s ruskou, tak i místní výzbrojí. V současné době najdeme v Budapešti 33 Ikarusů 280T. Jeden z nich je zachycen na této fotografii u východního nádraží.

For the real winter full of snow, it was necessary to go to the Beskydy Mountains in recent years, but not this year. This season there was enough snow in Ostrava as well, ie also on the single-track line to Zátiší. It is 8.7 km long and together with the Liberec - Jablonec line is the only monorail in the Czech Republic.

Za opravdovou zimou plnou sněhu bylo poslední roky třeba jezdit do Beskyd, ne však letos. Tuto sezónu bylo sněhu dost i v Ostravě, tedy i na jednokolejné trati do Zátiší. Ta je 8,7 km dlouhá a společně s tratí Liberec - Jablonec je jedinou jednokolejkou v Česku.
