Kanyakumari (India) - Cape Comorin located at the tip of the extreme south of India is a sacred place for Indians who come here on pilgrimage. The day I took this picture, the sea was rough and Indian tourists just took pictures of themselves, without taking the risk of swimming.

Kanyakumari (Cape Comorin) Vivekananda Rock Memorial at Sunrise.
Cape Comorin (Kanyakumari) is at the southernmost tip of India and its where three seas meet: the Bay of Bengal, Indian Ocean and Arabian sea. Pilgrims come here to bathe in the sacred waters and to worship the goddess Devi Kanya, an incarnation of Shiva's wife, who conquered demons and secured freedom for the world.

Kanyakumari is exceptionally admired in India for its stunning and exclusive sunrise and sunset. The flowing together of three ocean mass – Bay of Bengal, Indian Ocean, and Arabian Sea creates the sunrise and sunset even more extraordinary.
Vivekananda Rock Memorial is a monument and it is a popular tourist attraction in Vavathurai, Kanyakumari, India. The memorial stands on one of two rocks located about 500 meters east off mainland of Vavathurai, India's southernmost tip. It was built in 1970 by the Vivekananda Rock Memorial Committee in honour of the visit of the Hindu spiritual teacher Swami Vivekananda to Shripada Parai during the month of December 1892.[1] It is claimed that he swam to this rock and meditated. It is said that he attained enlightenment on the rock, and henceforth became a reformer and philosopher.

Our Lady of Ransom Church, Kanyakumari
Our Lady of Ransom Church is a Catholic church located in Kanyakumari, India.
From the shore where the fishing boats are moored you can see the three towering spires of this off-white Gothic structure with a distinct Portuguese feel. The Church of Our Lady of Ransom is a more than 100-year-old building dedicated to Mother Mary. But what catches your eye first-up is the 153-foot-high (46 meters) central tower crowned with a Cross of pure gold. Truly a beautiful structure; the church looks particularly gorgeous against the molten-blue noon sky. Astonishingly, the grand Gothic façade is a striking contrast to its almost bare interiors.
Once you tread in you will be goggled by its hollowness; no pews anywhere in sight, only a beautiful idol of Mother Mary clad in a sari – like in most South Indian churches – and a little Cross on the altar. This emptiness is further accentuated by colorful light patterns thrown by the stained glass windows on the bare floor.
And one is given to wonder that the church is probably no longer functional! On the contrary, in fact, the church holds mass regularly on the floor made of sand. Since the parish here predominantly comprise local fishing folks, mass is always held in the regional language Tamil.

The place lives on the touristic attraction: a ferry brings you to the two islands in the bay of the town, the Vivekananda Rock and Thiruvalluvar statue, monuments dedicated to famous Tamil men.
