On the Ghanian coast, work is a blur as these fishermen pull in their nets filled with their latest capture.
Fishing is very important in Elmina, Ghana.This small beach serves as a fishing dock. On the return of the boats the area is a beehive of activity. This beach was once a major loading point for the slave trade as it is adjacent to the infamous Elmina Castle.

Questi elaborati santuari sono adornati con statue dipinte a grandezza naturale, spesso raffiguranti animali, eventi storici e narrazioni simboliche, che esprimono la filosofia dell'azienda e i suoi messaggi di orgoglio e sfida ai rivali.
The Posuban shrines of Elmina are ornate, multi-story concrete structures built by the Fante people's Asafo companies (traditional, quasi-military organizations) as symbolic storehouses for arms and regalia, now used for community gatherings and festivals.
These elaborate shrines are adorned with painted, life-size statues, often depicting animals, historical events, and symbolic narratives, expressing the company's philosophy and messages of pride and defiance to their rivals.

Fort Amsterdam, un ex forte per schiavi.
Fu costruito dagli inglesi tra il 1638 e il 1645 come Fort Cormantin o Fort Courmantyne e fu catturato dall'ammiraglio Michiel de Ruyter della Compagnia olandese delle Indie occidentali nel 1665, in rappresaglia per la cattura di diversi forti olandesi da parte dell'ammiraglio inglese Holmes nel 1664.
Successivamente divenne parte della Costa d'Oro olandese e ne rimase parte fino a quando il forte non fu ceduto agli inglesi nel 1868.
A causa della sua testimonianza dell'influenza economica e coloniale europea nell'Africa occidentale e della sua importanza storica nella tratta degli schiavi nell'Atlantico, il forte è stato iscritto nella Lista del Patrimonio Mondiale dell'UNESCO nel 1979 insieme ad altri forti e castelli in Ghana.

Fort Amsterdam, a former slave fort.
It was built by the English between 1638 and 1645 as Fort Cormantin or Fort Courmantyne and was captured by Admiral Michiel de Ruyter of the Dutch West India Company in 1665, in retaliation for the capture of several Dutch forts by English Admiral Holmes in 1664.
It subsequently became part of the Dutch Gold Coast and remained part of it until the fort was ceded to the English in 1868.
Because of its testimony to European economic and colonial influence in West Africa and its historical importance in the Atlantic slave trade, the fort was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1979, along with other forts and castles in Ghana.

Cape Coast is the historical capital of Ghana, formerly known as the Gold Coast (a name derived from several European seafarers and imperialists when gold was in abundance in the region). Cape Coast is also the location of many castles that previously operated as depots and dungeons for the Transatlantic Slave Trade of previous centuries.
From a touristic perspective, Cape Coast is scenically eye-catching, with the vivid blue waters of the Gulf of Guinea splashing along the illustrious and expansive beaches of the city, in contrast with its brightly colored homes and fishing boats.

Siamo tornati sull'Oceano Atlantico, Golfo di Guinea.
Andremo a visitare alcuni forti, sparsi lungo la costa, utilizzati nei secoli da varie nazioni europee per il commercio degli schiavi.
Si parla di circa 18 milioni di persone e, pare, che la metà non sia arrivata viva all'imbarco.
Decimati da mesi di carcerazioni, incatenati e ammassati in sotteranei senza luce, senza in minimo di igene, senza aria e in un caldo soffocante.
