Some cormorants at Marismas Blancas, El Astillero, Cantabria, Spain. I was testing my new Canon EF Extender 2.0 X III, which seems to act greatly with the 1D Mark IV and the 70-200 2'8 IS L II USM.

The Sun as seen through a Baader AstroSolar Safety Film OD 5.0, designed for safe solar observation and photography with all spotting scopes, amateur telescopes and camera lenses.
There are four ‘active region’ of sunspots visible on the solar disc, (from right to left) NOAA AR 2625 (almost too weak to be visible on this photo), AR 2626, AR 2627 and AR 2628.

Coots are medium-sized water birds that are members of the Rallidae family. They constitute the genus Fulica. Coots have predominantly black plumage, and—unlike many rails—they are usually easy to see, often swimming in open water.

The figure was captured using two extender rings attached to my Canon EF 50mm lens on my Canon EOS 500D. Image was processed in Lightroom 3 using plug-in Topaz Adjust pre-set, Clarity. Further adjustments were made in Lightroom 3.

Remembrance Day (also known as Poppy Day, Armistice Day and Veterans Day) is a memorial day observed in Commonwealth countries since the end of World War I to remember the members of their armed forces who have died in the line of duty.
The red remembrance poppy has become a familiar emblem of Remembrance Day due to the poem "In Flanders Fields". These poppies bloomed across some of the worst battlefields of Flanders in World War I, their brilliant red colour an appropriate symbol for the blood spilled in the war.
The first chapter of "In Flanders Fields and Other Poems" (a 1919 collection of poems by John McCrae) gives the text of the poem as follows:

From Cabarceno Nature Park. I am not sure the kind of bird this one is. There were a lot of them, as well as ravens, trying to get some food from the bears menu (the bears had just been fed by the park staff).

I simply can not believe the detail and sharpness that I can get with the new (ish) Canon extenders.

Smarties are milk chocolate discs 8mm across and 3.5mm thick in the middle, coated in a crisp sugary shell and come in many colours. Smarties were invented by Rowntrees in York (UK) in 1937 and were sold for 2d (old pennies) a time. Nestle bought the company (by then called Rowntrees Macintosh after an earlier merger) in 1988. Today, Nestles make Smarties at:
York (U.K - 530,000 tubes a day!), Czechia, Hamburg (Germany), Toronto (Canada), East London (South Africa), Melbourne (Australia), Thailand and Malaysia where they produce special "Halal approved" Smarties!

I believe they call these small anklets slave anklets as they have small bells on them so any movement you can hear them ring a ling. Friend made this and gave it to me! Come to think of this, I hope she doesn't think I am her slave! LOL

A nice scene from these monkeys, taken today at Cabárceno Nature Park, Cantabria Spain. This Park contains more than 100 different species of animals, living in semi-freedom. I acquired a pass for all year (similar to the US National Parks Annual Pass), something really interesting taking into account that this place is just a fifteen minutes drive from my home. It's the easiest way to feed my hunger for wildlife shooting.
Hope I can learn a little bit to apply if someday I can visit to the Canadian Rocky Mountains, Alaska, or go back to the wonderful US National Parks, incredible places to practice this marvelous hobby.

A macro of a hair brush I found in the parking lot....Used my Nifty Fifty on my Canon EF25 Extension Tube.
Experimenting with new Canon EF 2X II Extender.
Hard to use at first...but I am getting it.
Very hard to handhold...as the extra weight makes me tremble. And I am dealing with a softening of the focus that comes with this extender on my 70-200 mm 2.8, but I think I can do this. This is still shooting through double-paned glass.
I had a problem with exposure... worked in Program mode...with EC until I understood how the lens would perform.
ISO 500, 1/400, f/7.1 200mm
I finally figured out that the shutter speed reciprocal of the lens had to be twice as fast as normal. Duh! And the ISO had to be bumped to hold the speed.
I am now off to pick up my macro lens.

This little salticidae was being very protective of its little "house" under the leaf on the right. There are over 5000 species of salticidae in Australia, mostly in the tropics. Their size is relatively small (3-20 mm) but most of them are smaller than 10 mm. This one was about 10-12 mm long. It kept ducking under the leaf but a slight tap brought it back up each time - to guard its web, I guess. If you look closely at this in "Original", you can see my silhouette in the two larger eyes :-).

Our lilli pilli tree is covered in tiny buds, so it may bear fruit this year. This image shows some buds which have bloomed while others yet to open nestle underneath. The bunch is about one inch across, while the unopened buds are about an eighth of an inch across. Due to the wind blowing today, I had to pick this small bunch to photograph indoors.

These little buds are almost impossible to see - and enjoy - with the naked eye. They measure just on one eighth of an inch in diameter, yet they contain a multitude of tiny stamens ready to pop out and form a flower. ...starting to clean a few of the animal teeth that I have collected....I use them to make jewelry and talismans. No animals where harmed in this, they were already dead and these were from my many trips into the woods.
This nice guy just stopped next to my car, as if it was posing for me. I was taking shots thorough the car's window to some other deers when I noticed this one came to the window and just stayed there for several minutes. I had to zoom out the lens, which I was using with the extender so I could have any correct composition.

One of my very first photos of Jupiter, the fifth planet from the Sun and the largest planet in our Solar System. It is a gas giant and it is mostly composed of hydrogen and helium and lacks a well-defined solid surface.
Jupiter is mostly known for its Great Red Spot, a gigantic hurricane-like storm that exists for more than 300 years. Another feature of Jupiter are its colourful cloud bands, which are clearly visible on this photo.
When this photo was taken, the distance between Earth and Jupiter was 5.220 astronomical units (au) or 780 900 885 054 km (about 781 million km).

While experimenting with two extender rings on my Canon EF-S15-85mm lens fitted to my Canon EOS 500D, to capture these tiny flowers, I found to my surprise, that the flower had a "visitor". As I was focusing, I noticed this tiny yellow aphid (?) busily crawling around. The outer petals (four of them) are roughly one quarter of an inch across, from one tip to the opposite side. The little "bulbs" in the centre of the petals and those tiny purple nodules, require good eye sight to view on the actual flower. So, I guess that puts the size of the aphid at probably less than 1/64th of an inch long! Camera was set on Manual focus. If you view in "Original" you can actually see the tiny "fuzz" covering its body. See next image to see flowers from another viewpoint.

In among the leaves on our citrus tree, I found this tiny spider web which was saturated with even tinier rain-drops. Fortunately the sun was shining straight on to the web. The web was roughly 3/4 of an inch across, and this is just a portion of it.

One of the many pictures of brown bears that I took in Cabárceno Nature Park. Well, most of them were of this guy, as it was the only one that was directly illuminated by the sunlight. There was another one near of him, but it seemed half-asleep. Then I could see some more bears that were difficult to see because they could be confused with the irony rocks of the park. I was there for about an hour, just admiring him. Wonderful animals, without any kind of doubt. Seems obvious that they are my favorite animals (particularly brown or grizzly bears).
I hope you like it. I recommend to see on black.
