This photo was the last traveling of my puppy with us in November, 2007. It always suffered from heart disease (2007 - 2010). But it was as brave as a little tiger to face the disease. I used the DSLR to keep this beautiful moment. The memory will in my mind forever. I missing my puppy very much. (Little Bean: APR.06.1995 -JAN.14. 2010)

A very popular area for rock climbing.
I'm taking a quick break from my Southwest trip photos to post this photo of the Dallas skyline immediately after sunset. I went with a local photo group to shoot the sunset south of downtown, but we had rotten luck with the cloud cover during the golden hour (memories of Monument Valley a week earlier...), but I was able to squeeze this one right before leaving.
Added on April 30, 2008: Wow! This was a runaway hit, going all the way to #82 in Explore. Thanks to everybody for faves and comments!

Großer Garten – Schwanenteiche
Mit einer Marathon-Performance bespielt die in Kroatien geborene Künstlerin Vlatka Horvat die vier Wasserbecken des Großen Gartens. An drei aufeinanderfolgenden Tagen können die Zuschauer miterleben, wie in den Schwanenteichen skulpturale Installationen aus 200 Stühlen entstehen. This Here and That There – Herrenhausen Quartet ist eine künstlerische Sisyphusarbeit: mit obsessiver Entschlossenheit stapeln und ordnen Horvat und ihre drei Mitstreiterinnen ununterbrochen Stühle, um sie dann wieder umzuräumen.
In täglich wechselnden achtstündigen Ritualen entwickeln sie mal großflächige, mal reduzierte, manchmal streng geometrische, dann wieder chaotische Arrangements. Im Laufe dieser speziell für die KunstFestSpiele entwickelten Langzeitversion von This Here and That There alternieren die gebauten Strukturen zwischen erkennbaren Formationen und abstrakteren visuellen Formen, die sich einer eindeutigen Interpretation entziehen. Horvats skulpturale Installationen schaffen rätselhafte Bilder, die alltägliche Geschichten von Bewegung oder Stillstand und von der Faszination kontinuierlicher Handlungen hervorrufen. Während sich immer wieder neue Szenerien entwickeln, werden die Betrachter_innen zu Figuren in sich verändernden Konstellationen.
Die Arbeiten von Vlatka Horvat und ihre Interventionen im öffentlichen Raum bewegen sich zwischen Skulptur, Installation, Zeichnung und Performance.
Modelled on its sister shopping mall in Las Vegas, the Grand Canal Shoppes (aka the Shoppes at the Palazzo) offer over 350 stores that are set against the backdrop of Renaissance Venice, featuring European architecture, cobblestone footpaths and a canal winding its way around and between the shops and cafés. You can also enjoy a ride on an authentic Venetian gondola down the canals and under the arched bridges.

This photograph was made when the sun hid behind some clouds during daytime and gives a better impression of the height and dramatic landscape.
The main waterfall (on the left) creates strong wind, especially when you`re down there, and sends mist up the mountain wall on the opposite side. A fantastic display of the forces of nature.
The large number of waterfalls (distant mountain wall) in this area suggests that only a small number of them have official names. Many of them are so impressive that I started naming them myself ;-)

Die riesige Uhr besteht aus der reich verzierten Hauptuhr und einem darunterlegenden Kalenderscheibe, die Datum und Feiertage anzeigt
Zifferblatt der astronomischen Uhr in der Rostocker Marienkirche bis 2017.
Alle 133 Jahre neu
Diese äußeren Angaben gelten unabhängig von den Jahres-angaben, während die jährlich wechselnden Angaben aus Platz-gründen jeweils nach bestimmten Zeit-räumen erneuert werden müssen.
Seit der Inbetriebnahme der Uhr musste die Scheibe bereits fünfmal neu beschriftet werden. Die aktuelle Kalenderscheibe ist ab Januar 2018 für die nächsten 133 Jahre berechnet. Ihre feierliche Enthüllung am 01.01.2018 läutete das 800. Stadtjubiläum der Hansestadt Rostock ein.
Im Jubiläumsjahr 2018 sind die Hansestadt Rostock und ihre Bürger am Neujahrstag mit einem Jahrhundertereignis gestartet. In der voll besetzten Marienkirche wurde mit dem Wechsel der Kalenderscheibe der astronomischen Uhr Geschichte geschrieben. Zahlreiche Gäste wollten sich diesen historischen Moment, der nur alle 133 Jahre vorkommt, nicht entgehen lassen. Das alte Kalendarium war seit dem 1. Januar 1885 in Betrieb und wurde nun vom neuen abgelöst, das Gültigkeit bis ins Jahr 2150 hat.
