I wish you all a good 2017
Spring Will Come
Under a grey winter sky
I pause while passing by
Dryness bares its fangs
On a bare thread hangs
Leaves desperate to hang on
Down below the grounds beckon.
For a moment a little doubt
Would new leaves sprout?
From surround serene and calm
I hear the winds hum
No doubt the spring will come.

The phrase "the flower and the butterfly" often evokes a famous fable about patience and trust in God, where a man receives a cactus and a caterpillar instead of what he asked for, later discovering that the caterpillar becomes a butterfly and the cactus produces a beautiful flower, teaching that what you need exceeds what you desire.
I always wanted to do a B&W loon shot with selective colour so today is the day. This is a crop....I don't go near the nesting sites for obvious reasons. If the mama loon is not relaxed you are too close. No shot is worth jeopardizing the chicks. The loons built their nest in a high traffic area (not their usual spot) near someone's cabin... probably due to high predator presence of 7 blue herons I counted in the fog the other morning. I bribed the cabin owner with two prints of the loons if they don't launch their speed boat until after the babies are born 28 days from now. Anything for my loons! Taken in my Yak.
*Glad to get my garden planted today. Now we just need rain*
Life’s better when you wing it like a jay. You know when they show up because they are so loud and bossy. I can never catch them when they see me, so I shot this through my patio doors as he was coming for my peanut butter suet.
Needless to say, I winged it!

Hard to forget moments.
Witnessing the incredible power of the great grey owl is always amazing to me. It dives through snow to catch a vole, hearing its heartbeat from above.
Even in a blizzard, the great grey hunts with unmatched focus. The light wasn't good, but I made the best of it.
Day 67/365: 2015
The weekly theme is selective colouring.
I took the parasol out with me in the hope of finding somewhere interesting to photograph it but ended up with this fence. Not sure I'll manage to keep the theme up as I now have RSI from re-colouring! ;) It's quite time consuming too, a great theme though so I'll do my best.
Oh dear, I have just realised that to fit the theme the selective colour was meant to be done in camera, sorry!

¿No eres tú, mariposa,

Isn't it you, butterfly
the soul of these lonely mountains,
of its deep ravines
and from its sour peaks?
For you to be born,
with his magic wand
to the storms of stone, one day,
he ordered a fairy to shut up,
and chained the mountains
for you to fly.
Orange and black
brown and golden,
mountain butterfly, on rosemary
the wings folded or, voltary,
playing with the sun, or on lightning

The wagtails, small stylized birds with long tails, owe their name to the habit of frequenting the banks of the aguazales.
The breeding period runs from April to August. It lays four to six eggs, which are incubated by both sexes for about 12 days. After 10-15 days of care by both parents, the chicks leave the nest, although they are fattened for at least one more week.

A harbinger of good news, the stork has managed to maintain a curious aura of fidelity towards its partner. This data is not totally true, as this bird is faithful to the nest that it rebuilds every year with branches and mud, so some weigh hundreds of kilos, but it is not unconditionally faithful to its partner. It is not unusual, therefore, that marital conflicts arise with some frequency, bloody arguments from which some individuals come out bleeding and others even die.
