Life’s better when you wing it like a jay. You know when they show up because they are so loud and bossy. I can never catch them when they see me, so I shot this through my patio doors as he was coming for my peanut butter suet.
Needless to say, I winged it!
A Snowy Owl in a snowbank is a common winter sight in Canada, (although, not common to find) using the bank for vantage, camouflage, and shelter, blending in with its white plumage, patiently waiting to hunt. I used a dark background to bring out the snow ghost that likes to spy on the neighbourhood. They seem to be totally unfazed by winter and its harshness whenever I see them.
I dug a trench in the snow and got down on my belly, burying my lens and pushing snow away from part of the lens opening. I really wish I had thought to tuck my shirt in before I did this–I can assure you that snow on the belly can motivate you to work quickly! The owl was very co-operative sitting in one place, surveying her kingdom although I am pretty sure I saw her roll her eyes at my antics.

In this photo,
you can find where the milkweed seedpods form,
and you can see remnants of where they bloomed.
Please see this in context with the other milkweed photos:

The El Nido rests between fishing runs in the Ketchikan Harbor. One of the things I liked most about traveling along the Alaskan coast was the variety of working boats. They weren't always new, but they were always well serviced for their job.

Thia was a lesson I did a couple of years ago when I was still strong.
It was a lesson I did for my friends on Flicker. I exposed this five times
and made this.shot

¿No eres tú, mariposa,

Isn't it you, butterfly
the soul of these lonely mountains,
of its deep ravines
and from its sour peaks?
For you to be born,
with his magic wand
to the storms of stone, one day,
he ordered a fairy to shut up,
and chained the mountains
for you to fly.
Orange and black
brown and golden,
mountain butterfly, on rosemary
the wings folded or, voltary,
playing with the sun, or on lightning
crucified sun.

a veces chirrían,

The train tracks are cut, they are shouted,
They are screwed, melted, rubbed, welded,
they get hot, they shudder,
sometimes they squeak,
And they show up as lines that are lost
on the horizon of your days.
The train tracks hug each other, get involved,
they stretch, they spill, they respond, they are destined,
they overlap, they coo, they pile up, they hate each other,
or they love each other, they mix with other trains and other tracks.
The train tracks
they come and go,
wherever you want to go
wherever they want to take you.

The wagtails, small stylized birds with long tails, owe their name to the habit of frequenting the banks of the aguazales.
The breeding period runs from April to August. It lays four to six eggs, which are incubated by both sexes for about 12 days. After 10-15 days of care by both parents, the chicks leave the nest, although they are fattened for at least one more week.
