El 13 de septiembre de 1964 fue inaugurado el Pantano de Los Rábanos. Ese es el tiempo que lleva el rÃo Duero embalsado a la salida de Soria capital, conformando un paisaje muy caracterÃstico.

El pantano de los Rábanos no es un embalse muy grande, cierto, pero es un bonito embalse con apenas 98 has. Puede ser el paraÃso que todos buscamos, ya que es muy tranquilo y acogedor. Alimentado por el rÃo Duero este embalse tiene una belleza imparable, sus orillas están rodeadas de frondosos bosques.

On September 13, 1964, the swamp of Rábanos was inaugurated. That is how long the river Duero has been dammed at the exit of the capital, forming such a characteristic landscape.

The Rábanos reservoir is not a very large reservoir, true, but it is a beautiful reservoir with just 98ha. It may be the paradise that we all seek, as it is very quiet and cozy. Fed by the Douro River, this reservoir has unstoppable beauty, its banks are surrounded by lush forests.
Uno de los fenómenos más bellos y fotografiados de la naturaleza es, probablemente una cascada. En realidad, este fenómeno no es más que un salto de agua provocado por un fuerte desnivel en el lecho o el cauce de un rÃo pero no podemos evitar quedarnos ensimismados cuando vemos uno.
I always wanted to do a B&W loon shot with selective colour so today is the day. This is a crop....I don't go near the nesting sites for obvious reasons. If the mama loon is not relaxed you are too close. No shot is worth jeopardizing the chicks. The loons built their nest in a high traffic area (not their usual spot) near someone's cabin... probably due to high predator presence of 7 blue herons I counted in the fog the other morning. I bribed the cabin owner with two prints of the loons if they don't launch their speed boat until after the babies are born 28 days from now. Anything for my loons! Taken in my Yak.

The phrase "the flower and the butterfly" often evokes a famous fable about patience and trust in God, where a man receives a cactus and a caterpillar instead of what he asked for, later discovering that the caterpillar becomes a butterfly and the cactus produces a beautiful flower, teaching that what you need exceeds what you desire.
Life’s better when you wing it like a jay. You know when they show up because they are so loud and bossy. I can never catch them when they see me, so I shot this through my patio doors as he was coming for my peanut butter suet.

Hard to forget moments.
Vernal Falls flush with spring runoff, was gushing mightily on this spring day in 2011. I found a little opening in the trees along the Mist Trail that allowed me to capture this intimate view of the falls. It was a rainy day and there were only a handful people about . My buddy and I were the only hikers on the trail. It was a true Zen moment.

Witnessing the incredible power of the great grey owl is always amazing to me. It dives through snow to catch a vole, hearing its heartbeat from above.
Even in a blizzard, the great grey hunts with unmatched focus. The light wasn't good, but I made the best of it.

Gradually sifting through all the photos from my trip. This is the viewing platform in Napier, New Zealand.
Cierta vez, un hombre pidió un DESEO: Una flor... y una mariposa.
Pero el deseo que le concedieron fue un cactus...y una oruga.
El hombre quedó triste, pues no entendió por qué su pedido llegó equivocado. No comprendÃa el error, y se quedó muy apenado.
Pasado algún tiempo, el hombre fue a verificar el pedido que dejó olvidado.
Para su sorpresa, del espinoso y feo cactus habÃa nacido la más bella de las flores y la horrible oruga se transformó en una bellÃsima mariposa.
No siempre lo que deseas... es lo que necesitas.
Cuando te llegue algo, y no es lo que esperabas, sigue adelante sin dudar ni murmurar.
La ESPINA de hoy... Será la FLOR de mañana.

Es un pájaro cuyo canto melódico se escucha durante todos los dÃas del año. Es una especie social y territorial al mismo tiempo.
El petirrojo trae consigo la buena suerte y simboliza los cambios, siempre en positivo, que van a tener lugar próximamente en nuestras vidas.
