Candytuft

In our garden.

I really appreciate any Views, Faves and Comments and I will try to visit your sites in due course. Thank you so much.

This lovely little candytuft grows along the ground creating dense mounds of foliage, perfect for edging, perennial borders, and mixed beds. It is happy in sunny rock gardens and xeriscapes and will cascade gracefully over the edge of containers and retaining walls

This flower comes in various shades, usually quite plain. This particular flower being well contrasted attracted my eye.

Happy Monday!

Seen here on an Iberis umbellata (aka Garden Candytuft or Globe Candytuft)

The name candytuft derives from Candia, the former name of Iraklion on the Island of Crete.

A symbol of indifference.

Also known as Iberis. Taken in my Mother's garden. I love these flowers, but can't grow them because the deer eat them.

Iberis, commonly called candytuft, is a genus of flowering plants belonging to the family Brassicaceae. It comprises annuals, evergreen perennials and subshrubs native to the Old World.

'Flying Colours Antique Rose' _ 'Flying Colours Antique Rose' is a tender, trailing, mat-forming, semi-evergreen perennial, often grown as an annul, with ovate, light green leaves and short, wiry stems bearing loose racemes of lilac-pink flowers in summer and early autumn

Happy Wing Wednesday, it's been dodge the showers here today!

Candytuft (Iberis sempervirens) have flowers upon flowers. The hidden green center reminds me of an old Busby Berkley film. Mr. Berkley was American film director and musical choreographer. As per Wikipedia: Berkeley devised elaborate musical production numbers that often involved complex geometric patterns. Berkeley's works used large numbers of showgirls and props as fantasy elements in kaleidoscopic on-screen performances. If you're not familiar with his work, check out the overhead views of the dancers. You can find that at www.youtube.com/watch?v=kIO9y1xMPIA

... from our garden. The sweet alyssum blossoms yellow, the purple rock cress violet, the phlox blooms pink, the candytuft shines white, and the Japanese fan maple rounds off the picture with the rich red and light green of its young leaves. Spring is a feast of colours for the eyes !

"The candytufts are again adorning fences and gardens with their bright white ..." (Forgot the memory card - thank God the IPhone was on the man)
