The daffodil is resilient. It survives our harsh winters and is the first flower to bloom in the spring – a time of renewal and hope. The daffodil is a symbol of strength, courage and life.

One day when you want a bit of wind there isn't any.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and the Town Hall; (Mairie), has a pink ribbon hanging under the flag pole.
From their website the whole building is lit up pink after dark. Might try and get down to find out.

It will soon be time to go to a coffee and cakes day that a friend who is a cancer survivor hosts each year. Shops all over her small Welsh town donate gifts to be auctioned.
A new tribute painting of the Patron Saint of Cancer Sufferers, Saint Peregrine by expressionist artist Stephen B. Whatley.
Saint Peregrine is also the Patron Saint of AIDS and other illnesses as well as Cancer - so may all those who meditate upon the image, created and infused with prayers, receive light, hope, protection and ultimate healing relief. Peace.
The artist - a Catholic convert since 2011 - often gets, through prayer, what he feels a 'Divine Push' to paint such Christian tributes and felt directed to paint Saint Peregrine, with prayers for healing, light and hope for those suffering cancer in his life - and worldwide.
He had a deep feeling the day of painting - 21 February - was a significant date; and later, after painting, realised it was the day in 1935 that Jesus had appeared to the Polish nun, Sister ( since 2000, Saint) Faustina, requesting she seek an artist and have a painting made depicting His Divine Mercy.
Stephen B. Whatley has painted several Divine Mercy images over the years; some of which were exhibited in his 2013 exhibition 'Paintings From Prayer' at London's Westminster Cathedral. There is a permanent walkway of his series of 30 paintings for the Tower of London, outside Tower Hill Station, London.
Peregrine Laziosi (Italy, c.1260-1345) experienced a miracle of healing in his own life, at 60, when a cancerous growth in his leg threatened amputation. The night before the amputation he spent praying before a fresco of The Crucifixion and later in a sleep state felt Jesus descend from The Cross to touch his leg. The next day the doctors found no trace of the cancer and he was pronounced cured; word spreading quickly of the power of Trust in the Lord.

This new painting took, alongside prayers, inspiration from a classic prayer card, acquired in New York in 2015.

My photo for the day with some added textures. I have seen a lot of people playing with layers of textures lately with some lovely results, so i thought I would give it a go.
The texture that I used is one of NinianLif's She has some wonderful free textures on her photostream
In memory of my college friend Pam who died from breast cancer many years ago. Also as a celebration for my college friend Geraldine who survived.

I dedicate this pic to all the courageous people fighting a battle with cancer. The frills of the daffodil remind me of the valleys and the peaks they experience. God bless you and give you strength.

What I wanted to do here was show this pretty rose, but not clear and crisp. To show there are two sides, a dark side on the left bottom corner and a bright side on the right top corner. The hopes and emotions, the cheers and tears. Cancer is not a respecter of person.
The cycle of grief is what I hope this portrays:
Shock stage: Initial paralysis at hearing the bad news.
Denial stage: Trying to avoid the inevitable.
Anger stage: Frustrated outpouring of bottled-up emotion.
Bargaining stage: Seeking in vain for a way out.
Depression stage: Final realization of the inevitable.
Testing stage: Seeking realistic solutions.
Acceptance stage: Finally finding the way forward.

Cervical cancer is one of the most preventable cancers. Get regular Pap tests to check for early signs. When cervical cancer is detected at its earliest stage, the 5-year survival rate is more than 90 percent.
Symptoms of cervical cancer:
-abnormal bleeding
-foul smelling vaginal discharge
-discomfort during intercourse
Risk factors include:
-early onset of intercourse
-3> sexual partners in one's lifetime
-history of genital warts
-immunosuppressive disorders such as HIV/AIDS
-failure to receive regular Pap test screening
-long term use of oral contraceptives
-smoking
