This comes under the category of WTF?? It's a catalog of helpful things for women going through cancer therapy. Now I kept seeing this on the rack of Helpful and Supportive Information in the radiation changing area, and I kept avoiding looking at it, just like I've avoided reading any of the pamphlets about support groups and all that.
Well, I faced myself today and took one of these fardling things to look through. They're so Earnest and Helpful and totally lacking in taste. A turban, for god's sake? Who wears a turban unless they're from 1963 wearing a flowered house coat or else is shouting to the world "HELLO, I'm in chemo!!!" And this is one of the better pages.
Who dreams these things up? There are other options for covering one's head that don't look so dorky, for god's sake. Surely they don't assume that just because you're losing your hair that you've lost all sense of personal style? It reminds me of the kind of clothes you used to (and still do) see designed for fat women; horrid prints and polyester that nobody would actually want to wear, but end up wearing if forced by a lack of choices.
I can thank god I'm not going to lose my hair, but by god if I were I'd make myself something better than these things. And it may just inspire me to knit a few soft lacy caps to give to the radiation center to give to other women.

Cancer has been a beast in my life. The ultimate robber baron, a ruling force in my life, in my life choices, in love, in loss, in
redemption, in my future............................
I have never been given a diagnosis of cancer. Yet cancer charged into my life like a bull from early childhood without me even knowing it. As a young child, my father was diagnosed with cancer. Not just cancer, but malignant melanoma....a serious cancer today, but a virtual death sentence in the early 1960's. The family folklore goes that soon after his father's death from lung cancer (yes, he was a smoker); my father threw out his pipes and cigars and cigarettes and quit smoking cold turkey. Soon afterward, he was diagnosed. Like many daughters of Eastern European parentage in the mid 20th century, the word 'cancer' was only spoken of in whispers and never to a child. [....] Cancer taught me to survive against the odds even when I wanted to die. To speak the truth in love, to live with courage and take risks, to live confidently, to love fiercely like there is no
tomorrow- and for those of us left to survive, we must live the legacy of the lost loves, and move on.
The early stages of cervical cancer may be completely asymptomatic. Vaginal bleeding, contact bleeding or (rarely) a vaginal mass may indicate the presence of malignancy. docturs.com/dd/pg/groups/15901/cervical-cancer/
So my last visit at the Doc didn't go over so well. The Markers indicated the cancer being back and growing and the CT Scan confirmed a toonie size shadow on my right lung. She got my into the very next Chemo Round and I will be starting on Monday. I will have three rounds of chemo lasting 9 weeks. Meaning I will be getting my last dose Feb 1st. Then we will wait 6 weeks and see if it killed the cancer. If the shadow remains over 1cm I will have to have surgery and have it removed. *sigh*
Not sure yet how we will manage the next 9 weeks. I hope I can work otherwise we are going to be in serious trouble. The Doctor says there is no way I can work through chemo, but I always like to accept challenges like that.

Doug wears a t-shirt that was given to me by my sister for Christmas. I have lymphoma, a cancer of the lymph system, and my mother died 2 years ago, 47 days after her diagnosis of colon cancer. I wore this shirt to my visit with the oncologist after I got it, and he loved it.
Cancer is not a death sentence, rather it is an opportunity to reevaluate your life, and to make changes to improve not only your health, but your relationships and more importantly, your outlook. I continue to do well, and have a positive outlook =)

Belize Cancer Center- Opening the center in Dangriga would not have been possible without the support and commitment of Dr. Peter Allen, CEO, MOH, Dr. Beatrice Thompson, Dr. Melissa Espat and Dr. Alba Mendez-Sosa. Credit and sincere recognition must also be given to the people of Dangriga without whose support and encouragement the center could not survive.

Spiritual Astrology regards Cancer as the time of dusk and as the moment where the soul enters into the body and thus, gets sealed in matter. Our mind corresponds to moonlight. It can reflect the soul, the Sun. Moon is the ruler of Cancer and Neptune is exalted in this sign. Like Earth is receiving the rays of Neptune via the Moon, our mind (Moon) is receiving the music of the soul through deep meditation (Neptune).
The image is inspired by the occult meditation no. 16 of Master CVV (see: Ekkirala Krishnamacharya, Spiritual Psychology; and: K. Parvathi Kumar, Occult Meditations): “Moon is silver. I AM the lake. Lake is moonlight, I AM healed. I AM silver. In me the moonbeam awakes. I AM moonlight. In me the Sun is sealed.”
The painting shows the Moon reflecting on the surface of the lake of mind, illustrated by the glyph of Cancer. And down below the Sun is sealed, spreading its light through matter. Behind the Moon you can see the bluish sphere of Neptune, and on its left, you find the constellation of Cancer.

I did take my tripod, hoping to get a spot up on the roundabout, but the police had coned it all off and there was no way I could have used a tripod in the crowds. I haven't got round to making an image stabiliser yet, so I had to take this on 1/30s. I was a bit gutted 'cos I could have had some awesome shots with the tripod :(
