This photo isn't the best but it's a moment that nobody will forget. I put the photo up for those of us who were there - this is a woman who took about 11 hours to roll into camp on Day One. Amazing because she lost her leg to childhood cancer. She received an enormous standing ovation and deafening cheering by thousands of fellow riders- she reminded us of the reason why we were riding- that life is precious and those we've lost to cancer are riding along with us.

Her powerful speech reduced us to tears. I still get teary just thinking about it.

She was on my train going home so I took the opportunity to thank her for her speech- her name is Chinyere and we had a nice chat. She is hoping to ride again next year :-)
