Visit the heart of Ottawa, Canada's National Capital City, and you will easily find and have access to Parliament Hill.
Complete with it's Victorian Gothic look, construction commenced in 1867 and took several years to complete. This is where our Canadian politicians hang their hats. As many of you know I am in Ottawa often, thank God I don't have a hat.......

"Mosaika is the story of Canada – our story. A powerful narrative set against the spectacular backdrop of Parliament Hill, Mosaika takes the audience on an unforgettable journey of sound and light, as we explore Canada’s physical, historical and cultural landscapes."
Finally went to check this show out and all I can say is wow! What a fantastic time. It's a 30 minute show during which they project images, stories, videos, etc onto the Parliament buildings. It's free and they run it every night until Sept 3!
You rock Canada!
Sami Atabani is demonstrating in Trafalgar Square for his adopted sister to be evacuated from war torn Khartoum to be re-united with
the rest of her family, in Canada.
So far, Canada has ignored their request on the grounds that she was not actually adopted by his family, but that they are legal guardians.
The Sudanese government would not permit an adoption.

Tucked behind the Centre Block on Parliament Hill, this is a memorial for all slain police and peace officers.
I have three images to share that I took this night so please pardon the Disney photo hiatus for the time being.
On March 22, 1994, Prime Minister Jean Chrétien joined the more than 700 police officers and relatives of slain officers at a site behind the Parliament buildings. The Canadian Police Association (CPA) and the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police (CACP) dedicated the new Canadian Police Memorial Pavilion and the granite stone at the base of the pavilion that displays the names of officers killed while on duty.

Parliament Buldings
Ottawa, Ontario
Parliament Hill is an area of Crown land on the southern banks of the Ottawa River in downtown Ottawa, Ontario. Its Gothic revival suite of buildings — the parliament buildings — serves as the home of the Parliament of Canada and contains a number of architectural elements of national symbolic importance.
Originally the site of a military base in the 18th and early 19th centuries, development of the site into a governmental precinct began in 1859, after Bytown was chosen by Queen Victoria as the capital of the Province of Canada. Following a number of extensions to the parliament and departmental buildings and a fire in 1916 that destroyed the Centre Block, Parliament Hill took on its present form with the completion of the Peace Tower in 1927. Since 2002, an extensive $1 billion renovation and rehabilitation project has been underway throughout all of the precinct's buildings; work is not expected to be complete until after 2020.
Shown here is Confederation Hall, located immediately inside the Main entrance of Centre Block. It is an octagonal chamber, the perimeter of which is divided by limestone clustered columns into eight bays of two different sizes, themselves subdivided by dark green syenite pillars, behind which runs a vaulted ambulatory that supports the upper gallery. The arcaded arches are topped by gables sculpted to commemorate the confederated nature of Canada, and they support one side of the hall's fan vaulted ceiling with carved bosses, while the other side rests on a single column in the centre of the room.

The Canadian Tulip Festival / Festival Canadien des Tulipes in Ottawa the capital city of Canada
The Canadian Tulip Festival began after the Second World War, when Princess Juliana of the Netherlands presented Ottawa with 100,000 tulip bulbs as a token of friendship in 1945.
Canada had provided asylum for the Dutch royal family during the war and played a strong role in the Netherlands’ liberation. While the royal family sought refuge in Ottawa, Princess Juliana gave birth to Princess Margriet on January 19th 1943 at the Ottawa Civic Hospital. The Canadian government temporarily declared the room “Dutch soil,” to ensure that the Princess would remain in line for the throne.
The Netherlands continues to give Ottawa 20,000 tulip bulbs every year.
Ottawa’s first Canadian Tulip Festival took place in May 1953 and opened with an inauguration ceremony at Parliament Hill.
The Canadian Tulip Festival has grown into the largest annual display of tulips in North America.
The Canadian Tulip Festival is also a celebration of the return of spring, with over a million tulips in 50 varieties blooming in public spaces across the National Capital Region.

Library of Parliament
Centre Block, Parliament Hill
Ottawa, Canada
The Library of Parliament is the main information repository and research resource for the Parliament of Canada. The main branch of the library sits at the rear of the Centre Block, on Parliament Hill, in Ottawa, Ontario, and is the last untouched part of that larger building's original incarnation, after it burned down in 1916. The library has been augmented and renovated a number of times since its construction in 1876, the last between 2002 and 2006, though the form and decor remain essentially authentic. The building today serves as a Canadian icon, and appears on the obverse of the Canadian ten-dollar bill.
The library's collection comprises 600,000 items, covering hundreds of years of history, and tended by a staff of 300. The main reading room rises to a vaulted ceiling, and the walls and stacks are lined with white pine panelling carved into a variety of textures, flowers, masks, and mythical creatures. In the galleries are displayed the coats of arms of the seven provinces that existed in 1876, as well as that of the Dominion of Canada, and standing directly in the centre of the room is a white marble statue of Queen Victoria, sculpted by Marchall Wood in 1871.

Hall of Honour
Centre Block, House of Commons
Parliament Hill
Ottawa, Ontario
Extending from Confederation Hall is the Centre Block's north to south axis, running between the Library of Parliament and the Peace Tower, and along which sits the Hall of Honour, which serves as the route of the parades for both speakers of parliament, as well as where the lying in state segment of some state funerals takes place.
The Hall of Honour was intended to be a gallery where statues of notable Canadians would be arranged in the niches along each side. That plan was later abandoned, however, in favour of a more general purpose of commemorating the 1916 fire, as well as honouring those who participated in the Great War. The sculptures, however, remain incomplete; only the north end, closest to the Library of Parliament, has completed carvings. The largest of these stone sculptures is a low relief memorial to nursing in Canada, depicting those care-givers who participated in World War I, while another work, "Canada Remembers", pays tribute to those who were involved in the Second World War.
The Great fire
A fire alarm was raised in the Centre Block on 3 February 1916, at 8:37 pm; something had been seen smouldering in a wastebasket in the Reading Room, but, as this was not terribly unusual, a clerk was called to assist. However, by that point the fire had progressed beyond control in the wood panelled and paper filled room. The House of Commons was in session that evening, and was interrupted by the chief doorkeeper of the commons calling for evacuation; some women in the gallery, unaware of the urgency, attempted to reclaim their fur coats from the coat check, and perished. Others, meanwhile, formed a human chain to carry furniture, files, and artwork out of the burning structure; the portrait of Queen Victoria in the commons chamber was rescued from flames for the second time. A half hour after the fire started came the first of five explosions, and, shortly after midnight, the large bell in the Victoria Tower crashed to the ground; it had tolled each hour until midnight, when, after ringing eleven times, it ceased to function. When the fire crews thought that the inferno had been quelled, flames emerged in the Senate chamber. Within twelve hours, the building was completely destroyed, except for the Library of Parliament, spared by the closing of its heavy metal doors.

Poppies, placed by veterans and spectators alike, adorn the tomb of the unknown soldier after the Remembrance Day ceremonies today in Ottawa.
To those who have served, who protect us, who have made the ultimate sacrifice. Thank you.
When in Ottawa, we had the wonderful opportunity to take a tour inside Parliament. Here is the beautifully appointed interior of the Senate chambers.
The cases of crimes are increasing day by day and in this chain, a new case has been added. In Nova Scotia, a gunman killed at least 16 people in the single crime that is an official said by the RCMP.
Republic Canadian Mounted Police has been working for the normal days and there the sudden accident happened with the same people. There was a policeman killed by the bullets of the gunman and another policeman was wounded by the terrible bullets of the gunman.
The crime was performed on the day of Sunday that made it more terrible for the people for the holiday. This is not the only case that appeared there with the people there but there are a lot of cases appearing these days during the lockdown periods by the effects of Coronavirus.

Here’s a shot taken from behind Centre Block on Parliament Hill in Ottawa. The scene shows the Ottawa River with the province of Quebec on the opposite bank. On the far left is the Canadian Museum of Civilization and the bridge on the right is the Interprovincial Bridge, aka the Alexandria Bridge.
At the bottom right, just out of frame, is the start of the Rideau Canal which winds its way for 200 kilometers (125 miles) from Ottawa down to the city of Kingston on Lake Ontario, incorporating 45 locks along the way. But that’s for another photo essay some day :)
