Let us admire the incredible terraces of Machu Picchu !
Just in front of us, you can see a path that goes up to a pass, called Intipunku, the "Sun Gate".
This is the end of the Inca Trail, i arrived from there the day before.
The view from Intipunku on the site of Machu Picchu is fantastic !

Cette vue nous permet d'admirer les terrasses invraisemblables du Machu Picchu.
Juste en face de nous, on aperçoit un sentier qui monte jusqu'à un col. Ce col s'appelle Intipunku, la "Porte du Soleil".
C'est le débouché du Chemin de l'Inca, c'est par là que je suis arrivé la veille.
La vue du site du Machu Picchu depuis Intipunku est fantastique.

Finally arrived on the site at the end of the Inca trail, my dream has been realized!
It's the end of the afternoon, the view is breathtaking, in an exceptional light.
Even though I had seen a lot of pictures of the place, this beauty blowed in my face when I looked at it for real.

Enfin arrivé sur le site à la fin du chemin de l'Inca, un rêve réalisé !
C'est la fin de l'après-midi, le spectacle est à couper le souffle, dans une lumière exceptionnelle.
J'avais beau avoir vu plein de photos de l'endroit, cette beauté m'a sauté au visage lorsque je l'ai contemplée pour de vrai.

Our amazed eyes discover the spectacular ruins of the Inca city of Wiñay Wayna (2650m).
Wiñay Wayna, whose name means "always young", was only discovered in 1942 by Julio C. Tello, 31 years after Machu Picchu.

Nos yeux émerveillés découvrent les ruines spectaculaires de la cité Inca de Wiñay Wayna (2650m).

The Inca Trail is a mythical trek in Peru that takes you to the city of Machu Picchu, it lasts in its long version of 4 to 5 days.
The short version lasts a day, and that's the one I made.
After a departure at dawn in Cuzco, and a long train ride along the Urubamba River, the train stops in the middle of the bush at km 104, at an altitude of 2100 m (6889 ft).
The crossing of the river on a suspension bridge marks the beginning of the hike, we go for a steep climb up to the altitude of 2650 m (8694 ft)
In passing, we cross the archaeological site of Chachabamba.

Sur le départ du chemin de l'Inca
Le chemin de l'Inca est une randonnée mythique au Pérou qui vous amène jusqu'à la cité de Machu Picchu, elle dure dans sa version longue de 4 à 5 jours.
La version courte dure une journée, et c'est celle que j'ai faite.
Après un départ aux aurores à Cuzco, et un long trajet de train le long de la rivière Urubamba, le train s'arrête en pleine brousse au km 104, à l'altitude de 2100 m.
La traversée de la rivière sur un pont suspendu marque le début de la randonnée, c'est parti pour une montée raide jusqu'à l'altitude de 2650 m
Au passage, on traverse le site archéologique de Chachabamba.

The climb was steep, but the landscape was getting more and more beautiful in lush vegetation. We can see the Urumba river and in the distance down the suspension bridge where we had started the hike.

Rude était la montée
Ça montait sec, mais le paysage devenait de plus en plus beau, dans une végétation luxuriante. On aperçoit le rio Urumba le pont suspendu tout en bas d'où nous étions partis au début de la randonnée.

The Inca trail leads to Intipunku, the Sun Gate (altitude 2720m - 8923ft), which marks the entrance to the site of Machu Picchu.
As we see on the photo, the Sun Gate, you've got to earn it ...
But given the magic of what we discovered when we arrived there, it was well worth it!

La dernière montée avant Intipunku, la Porte du Soleil
Le chemin de l'Inca débouche sur Intipunku, la Porte du Soleil, à 2720 m , qui marque l'entrée du site du Machu Picchu.
Comme on le voit sur la photo, la Porte du Soleil, cela se mérite ...
Mais vu la magie de ce qu'on a découvert en y arrivant, cela en valait bien la peine !

An incredible light bathed Machu Picchu as we went down to the site. It illuminated and enhanced the unbelievable architecture of this outstanding Inca city, like a huge stone vessel on the mountain.

Une lumière incroyable baignait le Machu Picchu alors que nous descendions sur le site. Elle illuminait et mettait en valeur l'invraisemblable architecture de cette cité Inca hors du commun, comme un immense vaisseau de pierre posé sur la montagne.

In the Machu Picchu range, there are more than 300 different species of orchids.
Throughout our hike on the Inca trail, we saw plenty of them, among a beautiful vegetation.

Bueno, si bien mi corazón nació en Colombia, mis paÃses hermanos han dejado en mi, la semilla de la union. En esta ocacion particular Peru y el sueño de conocer Machu Pichu, endulzaron mi alma y aunque no paguemos un tren de 120 dólares, si volverÃa a pagar por Inca-cola y la caminata hermosa por la vÃa del tren inca, disfrutando los paisajes que visita quien hace de sus pies la herramienta que palpa su tierra...
!!!! Entrega total a los ideales que sigas!!!!!
Two different days.
On the first day, I climbed Machu Picchu (Old Peak) and on the second day Huayna Picchu (New Peak).

Intipunku - The Gate of the Sun controlled the access to the Inca city and offers a 180º view of Machu Picchu.

And, in search of the most perfect view, I decided to climb - of course - the highest mountain Huayna Picchu (or Waynapicchu, in Quechua).
The smallest mountain on the left is Huchuypicchu (Quechua "Little New Peak") and the mountain that I climbed on the right is the Waynapicchu (Quechua "New Peak").
Machu Picchu is 'Old Mountain or Peak'.
Machu Picchu is a 15th-century Inca site sits 2,430 metres (7,970 ft) above sea level and is located in the Cusco Region, Urubamba Province, Machupicchu District in Peru.
It is situated on a mountain ridge above the Sacred Valley which is 80 kilometres (50 mi) northwest of Cuzco and through which the Urubamba River flows.
Most archaeologists believe that Machu Picchu was built as an estate for the Inca emperor Pachacuti (1438–1472).
The stunning views of and around Machu Picchu made the four-day Inca Trail trek to reach it worth it.
