While I'm not one to follow trends, there is something special about a trendy camera and a historically significant 'canon' event in photographic history. The Canon AE-1 introduced a CPU-controlled SLR that instantly hit the consumer market. As a camera, the AE-1 is capable, with a solid meter and is easy to use right out of the box. But does the camera live up to the hype? Well, stay tuned for the review!

Is this the ultimate Nikkormat? The Nikkormat FT2 is the middle child of the mechanical Nikkormat line and probably the best of both worlds. It has excellent lens compatibility, a modern battery cell, and a build quality that could stop a .50 BMG round. It feels good to have a functional mechanical Nikon in my kit again.

Before the EF was a lens mount, it was a camera, an electronic F. Designed around the F-1 chassis and featuring the iconic Copal Square shutter, this shutter-priority camera is a joy to use and offers up a wonderful experience. It also provides a semi-automatic camera that's all metal and takes all your FD-Mount lenses.

File this under What was Canon thinking? The Photura is a mid-1990s super zoom, but at first glance, it looks more like a camcorder from the early 2000s than a 35mm point-and-shoot, which is what the camera is! But don't let the strange design fool you because, despite some quirks and quirky options, the Photura is no slouch and is a lot of fun to use.

This stretch of river forms the NSW - Victoria border. The border runs down the opposite bank so I'm still in NSW and the fishing licence is legal, phew!
Tom Groggin has operated continuously as a cattle station since around 1860. Banjo Patterson visited the property in 1890 and Jack Riley, the then manager, is widely thought to be the inspiration behind Banjo’s poem “ The Man from Snowy River “. www.tomgrogginstation.com.au/
I'm not often out there shooting point-and-shoot cameras, but the Weathermatic 35DL caught my eye the moment I opened up my Emulsive Secret Santa gift, my Santa indicated that it would be good for the weather in Canada. And it didn't disappoint, the Weathermatic performs well beyond what I would have expected for such a camera and is enjoyable to use!

The OM goes down to electric avenue! The OM-2n is the updated version of the original OM-2 that took the chassis of the OM-1 and updated it with semi-automatic exposure and electronics and an innovating metering system that made the metering reading right off the film plane in automatic mode. Plus the lenses are no slouch either! Combine all that in a compact fun to use package, and you have a winner.

This review has been waiting in the wings for several years, and it's finally time to review Asahi's last professional 35mm SLR, the Pentax MZ-S. Produced for a short time, this camera resembles a strange union of the Leica R8, Nikon F4, and a touch of the Maxxum 9. But this K-Mount powerhouse is a lot of fun to use and offers up a professional experience. Plus, you get some amazing lenses in the standard Pentax-FA units, or opt for complete luxury and invest in those limited-edition lenses.

Dive into the world of GEMS and discover the fascinating histories of some of the rarest digital and analog cameras. These aren’t just cameras—they’re legends in the world of photography, with stories waiting to be explored.
If you think that this camera looks homemade, you're right! Built by a good friend Matt as one of many cameras he's built himself this is what I've called the Six-One-Seven. Again if you're keen, you'll have figured out that it's a panoramic camera based on 120 film shooting four 6x17 frames. While it might not be the perfect option, there are some little issues; it still is an excellent and fun camera to get out and try something new!

The Pentax MX is one tiny camera. It is so small that it can make an FM and an OM-1 look big in comparison. But don't judge it by its size! The Pentax MX is a fully metered and mechanical wonder. It also takes up very little space in your camera bag, especially with the 40mm f/2.8 pancake lens.

A rather exciting divergence in Canon's camera line, the Pellix is unique among SLRs of the day as the first to use a pellicle mirror. A mirror is fixed in place, allowing some light to be reflected in the viewfinder and the rest to hit the film. As such, metering can be tricky with an external meter. A unique piece of photographic history for sure.

The often overlooked consumer SLR from the OM system. The OM10 is an aperture-priority-only SLR from the 1970s. While manual operation was possible, you needed another accessory, which today can often cost extra if it doesn't come with the camera. But on the plus side, the camera operates with all the OM lenses in the catalogue and is a well-balanced system worth another glance.

As with the original LOMO LC-A is a reimaging/backwards engineered/copy of the Cosina CX-2, the LOMO LC-A+ is a reimaged version of the original LC-A camera. This compact full Auto-Exposure, zone focus is what inspired the entire Lomography movement starting in 1991, the LC-A+ was born out of needing to continue that legacy after LOMO shut down production in 2005. Is this the Ultimate 645 camera? Probably not; it is ultimately only in the sense that it was the final entry in the GA645 line from Fujifilm, but the camera itself is slow both in functionality and optics. But it produces big beautiful negatives, and the lens is a winner despite being slow also. While not an inexpensive option, it does make medium format far more portable and that zoom lens gives you a decent focal length range without needing multiple lenses.
