Calvin Harris - My Way Tuuunes!! 🎧
Why wait to say
At least I did it my way
Lie awake, two faced
But in my heart I understand
I made my move
And it was all about you
Now I feel so far removed
You were the one thing in my way
You were the one thing in my way
You were the one thing in my way
You were the one thing in my way
You were the one thing in my way
You were the one thing in my way
My way, oh way, oh way, oh way
My way, oh way, oh way, oh way
My way, oh way, oh way, oh way
My way, oh way, oh way, oh way
My way
My way
My way
You were…

This is one of the metal buttons on my Calvin Klein Jean Jacket. I like how the letters "CK" are embossed on the button.
Off for an Adventure
--
It all started when LegoJunkie asked: "So... you have a lot of orange right?"
What ensued was a wonderful little collab, and resulted in possibly my favorite build I've ever done. Evan did Calvin, I did Hobbes.

This is one of four models that I built in 2016 for a book about US presidents, that unfortunately didn’t work out. Portrayed here is Calvin Coolidge’s Address to Congress, which was the first in the US to be broadcasted over radio.
See more on brickbuilt.
Calvin was on the southwest corner of Lake and Wacker. Today was very windy, so when we first started talking he said, "I was afraid of getting blown off the bridge, so I tried to find a building to block the wind!" He stays down on the southside with his family. He was trying to find a bus to get back down there. He's originally from Hollywood, Mississippi. "I went to school in a school house that had first grade to high school." His advice, "stay in school, get an education."
One of my favorite winter sports and childhood memories!

As I am a member, I built this! I hope everyone likes it!
This Parade Float was built as a collaboration between me and my wife! This was a fun build. ;)
The Calvin Theatre in Northampton opened in 1924 when the town's former mayor, Calvin Coolidge, was President. The theater stopped it's movie run in 1994 and now is home to live productions.

No photoshop, just cropping. No touch up at all. This time I used glass from unused photo frames and placed black cloth underneath for reflections. Only 2 lights used. One on the background to separate it from the subject. Other from high left. Kept the subject 8ft away from the background. I didn't like the background reflected in grey color. I will try with something else using black.

One thing I’ve learned from doing my Human Family project is that encounters with strangers needn’t be lengthy in order to be meaningful. Such was the case today when I headed to the subway station to go downtown. I saw him slowly heading toward the seniors’ building with small, shuffling steps and a small bag of groceries purchased across the street. I noted that even though he was greatly slowed by age, he was very well-dressed for his morning shopping trip and his face interested me. I assumed the approaching snowstorm had prompted him to pick up his essentials early in the day. I approached him and explained my project and my reason for wanting to include him in it. He thought for a moment and said “Well, ok, but if you can do it quickly. I’m not well.” Meet Calvin.
Once again I was surprised by the kindness of a complete stranger who was willing to help a man with a project – even if it was not easy for him. We exchanged names and I had to get a repeat because his voice was so weak. The only relatively “clean” background was just steps away against the building and I felt ambivalent about asking Calvin to take even those extra five steps but he didn’t complain. I took the photos and showed them to him on my camera display and he said “That’s me. I hope I helped.”
Calvin told me he is 67 and was born and raised in Jamaica. I asked how long he has been in Canada and had trouble understanding his answer as his voice was weak and there was car traffic on the street. He may have said 20 years.
Not wanting to delay him further from the comfort and safety of his apartment, I thanked him for helping out with my project and told him I hoped he would soon feel better. We shook hands and he told me “You are welcome.” I held the door until he was inside where I trust he was comfortable and warm and would not have to deal with the coming snow.
Thank you Calvin for extending yourself to meet and participate in The Human Family on Flickr. I know it wasn’t easy, but your participation in the project emphasized the truth of something I’ve known for a long time: that the kindness of strangers is not a rare event.
This is my 223rd submission to The Human Family Group on Flickr.
