What appears tranquil and calm really isn't. Between the noise from traffic on US 2, the water rushing through the dam, and the noise from the various paper mill machinery from Verso, the calm is only visible on the smooth water. Preparing to stop and work Verso, CN A451 crosses over the Escanaba River that is unusually calm and casts a near perfect reflection.

A relaxed great-crested grebe

It has been so calm recently on the Moray Firth. So calm in fact that I chose not to take a long exposure as it just wasn't needed at all. The water was so clear that the detail in the submerged rocks and stones was still so visible. Also, as it was overcast, the dark skies were helping to cast a wonderful green colour in the water close to the shore. I actually can't remember when I last took an image of water that wasn't a long exposure. I personally really like the result. Bow Fiddle Rock is just off the coastline of Portknockie in Morayshire, Scotland.

Ullswater Calm

A beautiful morning on Ullswater with a nice layer of mist with some really lovely colours and a very calm lake. This is just a wee bit along from the Duke of Portland Boathouse, which when I went past had a line of photographers all taking their shots of the boathouse...couldn't really blame them, a stunning morning.

Picturesque views of lake Mondsee, Austria. HBM.

Couldn't believe the calm nature of the deer here. They are often fed on the Glen Etive road, but this one was so happy to just stand and pose for me. Processed with VSCO Portra 160.

Another clichéd boat reflected in the lake shot.

Good thing we have a motor, a sail wouldn't do anything today.

Toy Project Day 2501

A delightfully calm early morning shot of the harbour at Lakes Entrance on Victoria's south coast.

A handful of stars were still visible but this was definitely the blue hour, and I have even slightly desaturated the blue in this as it seemed almost too vivid! It was a very chilly morning. Despite being so near the sea, the air temperature was maybe 2 degrees Celsius.

This is a section of a two image stitched panorama. Stitching program was PanoEdit. Taken with my old Canon 6D and my all time favourite lens, the f2.8 40mm pancake lens.

La visite éclair de Burano lors de notre séjour à Venise était des plus agréables, colorée et étonnante. Je recommande à tous ceux qui le peuvent d'y passer plus de temps pour admirer le paysage et vivre pleinement le calme qui y règne.

Captured last week along Little Armier - limits of Mellieha (Malta) - late late afternoon.

Thank you for your time to view.

Larger version should be better.

It's -16 in Ottawa today. Too cold to take photos outside! I managed to find this one taken last year...with some very warm fall colors. There was a bit of mist on the water and so very calm.

I could like a whole bunch more just like this one.

Getting the new Catya Bento head from Catwa has enabled me to recreate my lovely alter ego Kim. She’s been too long gone! Creating her shows how flexible the slide controls are for the head on the new Bento viewers, at least as much as for system heads on the standard viewer, if not more. To give Kim a kind of ’70s retro look I found this old Tuty’s hair in my inventory. More experiments with Bento to follow!!
