Daimler Chrysler selected BOKA Powell to design both the shell and interiors of their 130,000 square foot call center in Westlake,Texas. A part of Hillwood’s Circle T Development this tilt-wall building has an Austin Stone veneer, standing seam roofs and detailing to help soften the harshness of a typical tilt-wall office building. BOKA Powell worked closely with the City of Westlake to insure that the design responded to the city development code, creating a series of facade elements that works to break down the mass of the building.
The building incorporates a trellis-covered patio adjacent to the cafeteria to accommodate lunch breaks and other gatherings. This design feature makes for an inviting employee entrance, as well as protecting against the sun from the south side.
Masterplanned to accommodate an additional 100,000 sq. ft. expansion, the facility incorporates a two-level parking deck with a covered connection to the building.

My work space in the call center - 1981. We were allowed to decorate our areas because customers were never allowed to visit. We were like mushrooms - keep in the dark and fed lots of BS :-) Front and center was our state of the art Diablo "daisy-wheel" printer that we used to access mainframe data and diagnose customer problems.

Des del FEM-CET un any més hem realitzat l’atenció telefònica dels Sopars amb Estrelles a l’Observatori Fabra, gràcies a la confiança que ens ha renovat la productora d’activitats Sternalia (sternalia.com/).
Recentment s’ha presentat la memòria d’aquesta activitat, que enguany celebrava el seu 10è aniversari. Sopars a l’Observatori Fabra és una singular proposta impulsada per l’Obra Social “la Caixa”, que combina l’activitat gastronòmica amb la científica i que forma part del programa de divulgació científica de la Reial Acadèmia de Ciències i Arts de Barcelona (RACAB).
Després de 10 anys els Sopars amb Estrelles s’han consolidat com un referent d’oci i divulgació científica. Entre juny i octubre d’enguany hem atès 3.387 trucades pel servei d’informació i reserves. Ja fa més de 5 anys que el FEM-CET s’encarrega d’aquest servei, atenent als usuaris que volen reservar per assistir al sopar, o bé necessiten que els donem informació sobre l’activitat. Una tasca complexa, ja que el nostre equip, agents i coordinadors, ha de dominar diferents programaris per donar un bon servei tant als usuaris que ens truquen com al nostre client i ser capaços de tornar a concertar les reserves davant imprevistos meteorològics.
L’equip que gestiona aquest servei, segueix demostrant any rere any la seva professionalitat i implicació amb les iniciatives del client, creant un tracte totalment personalitzat amb els usuaris i per descomptat amb el nostre client.
Un cop més doncs, aquest estiu 2013, hem tornat a estar amb tots vosaltres a l’altra banda del telèfon si heu fet una reserva per anar a Sopars amb les Estrelles a l’Observatori Fabra.
