Daimler Chrysler selected BOKA Powell to design both the shell and interiors of their 130,000 square foot call center in Westlake,Texas. A part of Hillwood’s Circle T Development this tilt-wall building has an Austin Stone veneer, standing seam roofs and detailing to help soften the harshness of a typical tilt-wall office building. BOKA Powell worked closely with the City of Westlake to insure that the design responded to the city development code, creating a series of facade elements that works to break down the mass of the building.
The building incorporates a trellis-covered patio adjacent to the cafeteria to accommodate lunch breaks and other gatherings. This design feature makes for an inviting employee entrance, as well as protecting against the sun from the south side.
Masterplanned to accommodate an additional 100,000 sq. ft. expansion, the facility incorporates a two-level parking deck with a covered connection to the building.

This is the stretch of street that a 911 calltaker swore to me DID NOT EXIST on her multi-million dollar digital map display. (I found it in 30 seconds with Google Maps and a $600, 5-year old Dell laptop computer)
While I was arguing with her about the existence of this street, which has been around since before the turn of the LAST century and which I have lived a block away from for the 56 years of my life, the young punks I was calling about cut a Denver Boot off their car, and drove away.
I brought the matter up with our 9th District Police Commander, David Jarmusz, at the next CAPS meeting. His sheepish response, "The 911 call center hires from the human race." I guess that answers THAT question.
A warning to tourists: if you're going to get robbed, shot or beaten, make damn sure it happens on a street that's on 911's fancy computer screen on West Monroe. Maybe you should call 911 first before you venture out of your hotel.
