Section winners met in a play-off final with Straide beating Castlebar 1-0 to win the title in their first season. Sligo were denied a place in the final due to using an ineligible Junior player leading to a points deduction. The eventual top 3 in Section1 and top 4 in section 2 would take part in a Premiership the following season with the remaining clubs entering a first division.
MV CSL Assiniboine is a Canada Steamship Lines’ self-unloading Laker. She was built in 1977 and converted in 2005.
The ship is a unique single hold design with a single belt and two front-end loaders to facilitate unloading.
The vessel is 225.5 meters in length with a beam of 23.76 meters.
The CSL Assiniboine is downbound on the Detroit River just below the Ambassador Bridge August 16/09.
