SMART WOMEN, SMART POWER

In a freak twist of fate, I turned my Judy Garland's Dorothy "This Side of the Rainbow" figure's head and CRRRACKK! - the neck shattered!

Who knew you weren't suppose to turn a doll's head in a normal manner? (Tonner took care of it though.)

The original Tonner little girl with the big head Dorothy (now called Dot) laughed so hard, HER head almost came off!

Silly dolls.

two of my cousins and myself went to a place in Taif called Gadeer Albanaat to take light painting pix....

we when there at 1am in the morning and the place was so scary ;p

we enjoyed taking pix and hope you do it

From season 5 "High Octane".

The investigation into a beheading during a stunt at an automobile "sideshow" could ultimately expose a larger cover-up involving stolen cars and jet fuel.

This is Long Beach harbor.

You know, I've been telling people all along that you can't save an image that was shot out of focus and maybe I'm wrong. Okay, this isn't art here, but often the question says, "I NEED to read the name in the headline," or, "I just need to make out the tag number." For those purposes, I think there is some hope.

My wife took a shot of a truck driving past our house today, just show how flooded the road was. It was taken in "Auto" with the matrix meter. It was in the middle of a downpour, so things are not especially sharp. This is less than 10% of a 6 MP image and I cropped it for purposes of this demonstration. There is a dogwood tree in the foreground – most of which is cropped out – and that's what is probably in the best focus. With the pouring rain, the truck and its license plate are pretty fuzzy. I wondered...

The inset show that I was able to pull up the tag number. It's not quite as impressive they show on CSI, but I'll bet if I was using my D200 with 10 MP, we'd have a very useable image of the license plate. As it is, I think we would be able to at least call this a good "partial plate." I am positive about all of the letters and numbers except for that second one. I'm just not sure if it's a "D" or an "R." CLick on "All Sizes" so you see this at 694x619 pixels. Remember that this was cropped out of the original 3008x2000 image.

The following fixes were applied in Photoshop Elements 5.0:

1. Adjust levels to set black and white points as well as darkening midtones a bit - about 10-15%.

2. Apply unsharp mask as shown in the graphic.

3. Voila.

The first letter was very plain, but I decided to color over it so I wouldn't be just posting someone's tag number on the internet without asking.

Bottom line? You can't turn a fuzzy photo into gallery greatness, but if all you need to do is what I have accomplished, give it a try. It might be adequate for your purposes.

Please join us for a timely discussion on the upcoming Ukrainian national elections. Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko dissolved the Rada in August and called for early elections. Against the backdrop of a ceasefire with Russia that has diminished but not ended the bloodshed; an unresolved energy dispute with Russia; slow progress on domestic reforms; and an economy that continues to contract, Ukrainians will head to the polls on Sunday, October 26th to elect leaders that will chart Ukraine’s future course. What are the most important issues to understand and to watch following the election? How has the United States assisted the Ukrainian government to prepare for these elections? If some regions of Ukraine are unable to cast their ballot, does this diminish the result? What is at stake for Ukraine, Russia, Europe and the United States? Our expert panelists will share their unique insights on developments in Ukraine and reflect on the significance of this election.
