As the air thickens with smoke and we all sit and wonder what is next... we realize we just need to breathe....
please note I may not be able to post for a bit due to fires in our area but I will be back ♥☺

2 a.m. and she calls me 'cause I'm still awake
"Can you help me unravel my latest mistake?
I don't love him, winter just wasn't my season"
Yeah, we walk through the doors, so accusing, their eyes
Like they have any right at all to criticize
Hypocrites, you're all here for the very same reason
'Cause you can't jump the track, we're like cars on a cable
And life's like an hourglass glued to the table
No one can find the rewind button, girl
So cradle your head in your hands
And breathe, just breathe
Oh, breathe, just breathe
This area must have been the acropolis of the Punic-Roman city of Gaulos or Glauconis Civitas. During medieval times, it was converted into a castle which served as a refuge for Gozo's population. By the 15th century a suburb, today's Victoria or Rabat, developed outside its walls. The castle's defences were not very good and by the 16th century, were obsolete. In 1551 an Ottoman force invaded Gozo and sacked the Cittadella taking most of Gozo's population prisoners. Further developments to the defences took place between 1599 and 1622 however these were criticized in later decades, and at some point plans to demolish the entire place were often made in the 17th and 18th centuries. Fortunately, these were never carried out.
The fortress saw action during the French invasion and subsequent uprising in 1798. In both occasions the fortress surrendered. It remained a military installation until it was decommissioned by the British on 1 April 1868.
The Cittadella has been included on Malta's tentative list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites since 1998.

I finally see the dawn arrivin'
I see beyond the road I'm drivin'
Far away and left behind
It's a new horizon and I'm awakin' now
Oh I see myself in a brand new way
The sun is shinin'
The clouds are breakin'
Cause I can't lose now, there's no game to play
I can tell
There's no more time left to criticize
I've seen what I could not recognize
Everything in my life was leading me on
But I can be strong
You can't criticize geometry, It's never wrong.

♫ Queensrÿche - Anybody Listening? ♫
Feel the breeze?
Time's so near you can almost taste the freedom
There's a warm wind from the south
Hoist the sail and we'll be gone
By morning this will all seem like a dream
And if I don't return to sing the song
Maybe just as well
I've seen the news and there's
Not much I can do...alone
Is there anybody listening?
Is there anyone who smiles without a mask?
What's behind the words images
They know will please us?
I'll take what's real
Bring up the lights
Is there anybody listening?
Is there anyone that sees what's going on?
Read between the lines
Criticize the words they're selling
Think for yourself and feel the walls
Become sand beneath your feet
Close your eyes

How many times can you put me down
Until in your heart you realize
If you chose to criticize you choose your enemies
Everything that I say and do
In your eyes is always wrong
Tell me where do I belong in a sick society
You're no different to me, yeah
You're no different, no different to me
Look at yourself instead of looking at me
With accusation in your eyes
Do you want me crucified for my profanity
Concealing your crimes behind a grandeur of lies
Tell me where do I begin
If you think you're without sin be the first to cast the stone
You're no different to me, yeah
You're no different, no different to me
You're no different to me, yeah
You're no different, no different to me
Well, since my baby left me
Well, I found a new place to dwell
Well, it's down at the end of Lonely Street
At Heartbreak Hotel
Where I'll be, I'll be so lonely, baby
Well, I'm so lonely
I'll be so lonely, I could die

Entrance to the Cittadella in Victoria, Gozo. Also known as Il-Kastell, the Castle, in Gozo, this is the old fortified capital of Gozo. The Blue Mosque in Istanbul, also known by its official name, the Sultan Ahmed Mosque, is an Ottoman-era historical imperial mosque located in Istanbul, Turkey. It was constructed between 1609 and 1616 during the rule of Ahmed I. Its Külliye contains Ahmed's tomb, a madrasah and a hospice. At night the mosque is bathed in blue as lights frame the mosque’s five main domes, six minarets and eight secondary domes. According to folklore, an architect misheard the Sultan's request for "altın minareler" (gold minarets) as "altı minare" (six minarets), at the time a unique feature of the mosque of the Ka'aba in Mecca. When criticized for his presumption, the Sultan then ordered a seventh minaret to be built at the Mecca mosque. The Blue Mosque was included in the UNESCO World Heritage Site list in 1985 under the name of "Historic Areas of Istanbul" (Wikipedia).
Keith (I think that is his name) has unfairly criticized me in the past by claiming that I barely slow down the car to take photos. I thought I would give him a few photos for which I did not have to leave my deck chair. #1.
Work hard for what you want because it won't come to you without a fight. You have to be strong and courageous and know that you can do anything you put your mind to. If somebody puts you down or criticizes you, just keep on believing in yourself and turn it into something positive. ♥
.... imperfect.
Everyone is talking about AI, I didn't wanted to use any for drawing. But for the explanation or meaning of the name of my picture.
After a great conversation i finialy got this :
"Perfectly imperfect" is an English phrase meaning that something or someone is perfect in its own way, even though it has flaws or imperfections. It's about seeing the beauty and uniqueness in things that aren't perfect, rather than seeing them as flaws or deficiencies.
This phrase is often used to convey the idea that it's okay to make mistakes and not be perfect, since it's those imperfections that make us unique and make us valuable. It can also serve as an encouragement to accept yourself for who you are and not to criticize yourself too much.

I'm in the sky when I'm on my floor
The world's a mess and you're my only cure
There's no time for me to act mature
The only words I know are more, more and more
No one to criticize me then
No one to criticize
No one to criticize me then
No one to criticize
There's no fear when I'm in my room
It's so clear and I know just what I want to do
Eau d'bedroom dancing
To you I wanna say, you're my thing
You teach me, you teach me, you teach me, you teach me
You only teach me wisely, only show me why
I remember, I remember everything
I don't wanna stop, I remember everything

Asun García Mainar passed away on Jul. 16th, 2017, after a short but tough illness, leaving behind a trail of light, love, sensitivity and sensibility which will remain in those who met her for good. Her social and ecological commitment broke through grassroots communities, trade-unions, social enterprises... The memory of her companionship does not mollify the pain we feel for her absence, but it reinforces our hope, and it always invites us to turn the energy we waste in criticizing and getting angry into positive feelings and actions.
During a photo shoot the other day when I was finally able to capture my Donna posing for me in a desired backdrop and perfect lighting, as patient as she usually is it just happened at one point in the session that she decided it was enough for her, started showing bored faces and jumped off the bed where she was lying until then changing her poses, and ran into the kitchen to help herself to her well deserved treat of cookies. As I turned around to follow her, I caught a glimpse of what I thought might be another interesting subject to explore. So here it is for you to see, enjoy, comment and criticize. Because it is all for and because of you, my Flickr friends.
Thank you! Cheers!
Luangpho Yai
Wikipedia: Luangpho Yai (Thai: หลวงพ่อใหญ่), also known as Phra Phutta Rattana Mongkhol Maha Munee and The Great Buddha of Roi Et, is the fourth-tallest statue in Thailand.
Located in the Wat Bhurapha Phiram temple in Roi Et Province, this statue stands 59.2 meters (194 ft) tall (or 67.55 meters (221.6 ft) tall, including the base). Construction was completed in 1973. It is covered with mosaic and made of concrete. The sculptor was believed to be a local sculptor. The overview of the Buddha was criticized as "not to the ratio" of any ordinary Buddha. It's assumed that the local sculpture focused on his faithful belief rather than the outside beauty.
The statue depicts the Gautama Buddha in a standing pose. The statue stands as the province's landmark, as being cited in the province's official quote; Leu nam phra yai (ลือนามพระใหญ่, lit. 'famed for its colossal Buddha'). The statue was built by the order of the 5th abbot of the Wat Bhurapha Piram temple, Phra Ratcha Preechayana Munee over the course of 8 years at a cost of approximately 7,000,000 baht.

" I'm afraid to say the wrong thing
Criticized from every angle
And I'm afraid to lay it on the line
And selfishly I wanna hold back
Do we got the room to make mistakes?
Are we judged for everything we said?
I wanna grow but I'm afraid
And will it always be the same?
Does what I gotta say even matter?
Is life about climbing up the ladder
And can we even see lives that are shattered?
'Cause I'm really tryna silence the chatter
What have we done with society?
When everybody's getting canceled
And can't there be room for maturity?
'Cause writing 'em off is not the answer
We can't write people off
God never writes us off
Even in our darkest days, even when we least deserve it
Even when we're doing that stupid thing we wish we weren't doing
God never writes us off, ever
He's with us in our pain, He's with us in our struggle
He's with us in our bad decisions
He's with us all the time, He never writes us off
You formed the whole of me
Inward and out
I am awesomely and wonderfully created
Your creations are spectacular
You skillfully designed me
You saw the essence of me, before I was formed
Before I existed, all of my days were written in your book."

Happy Window Wednesday!
From Wikipedia:
The Cologne Cathedral Window is the stained glass window in the south transept of the Cologne Cathedral designed by Cologne artist Gerhard Richter. On a surface of 106 square metres 11.263 glass squares in 72 colours of 9,6 cm × 9.6cm were principally arranged randomly, with others selected in response to architectural context.[1] The window was inaugurated on August 25, 2007 as part of a Eucharistic celebration; the abstract execution was both celebrated and strongly criticized.

“Promise Yourself
To be so strong that nothing
can disturb your peace of mind.
To talk health, happiness, and prosperity
to every person you meet.
To make all your friends feel
that there is something in them
To look at the sunny side of everything
and make your optimism come true.
To think only the best, to work only for the best,
and to expect only the best.
To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others
as you are about your own.
To forget the mistakes of the past
and press on to the greater achievements of the future.
To wear a cheerful countenance at all times
and give every living creature you meet a smile.
To give so much time to the improvement of yourself
that you have no time to criticize others.
To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear,
and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.
To think well of yourself and to proclaim this fact to the world,
not in loud words but great deeds.
To live in faith that the whole world is on your side
so long as you are true to the best that is in you.”
― Christian D. Larson, Your
Forces and How to Use Them
Beware of people who speak ill of others, they say the same about you when your back is turned !
Many of us are confidants and friends of people who continually talk about the lives of others, as if some divine power has given them that right. They do not do it in a way that could be described as "fortuitous", since for them, hypocrisy is a habitual recourse in communication, which serves them indirectly to reinforce their values by seeking the complicity of the other in criticism.
It cannot be denied that some people are masochists, and like to have others talk about them, even if it is to criticize them openly and intentionally hurt them.
From Wikipedia: The Eiffel Tower is named after the engineer Gustave Eiffel, whose company designed and built the tower. It was constructed from 1887 to 1889 as the centerpiece of the 1889 World's Fair and was initially criticized by some of France's leading artists and intellectuals for its design, but it has become a global cultural icon of France and one of the most recognizable structures in the world.
The tower is 1,063 ft. tall, about the same height as an 81-storey building, and the tallest structure in Paris. During its construction, it surpassed the Washington Monument to become the tallest man-made structure in the world, a title it held for 41 years until the Chrysler Building in New York City was finished in 1930.

When your country continues to profit off of institutionalized racism, it is not freedom. When your country continues to give guns more rights than humans, that is not freedom. When your country denies people the right to body autonomy, that is not freedom. When your country does not provide a safe space for non Christians to attend public school, that is not freedom. When your country actively suppresses voting rights, primarily in those neighborhoods where African Americans, Natives, and Latinx humans live, that is not freedom. When your country allows corporations to oppress its workers and release toxins that lead to disease and death into the air and drinking water, valuing profit over human safety, that is not freedom.
When your country urges you to look up to your forefathers as heroes and these same people owned humans, you have to challenge this notion. When your country criticizes you for protesting and fighting for those who committed treason to be held accountable, you need to speak up. When your country continues to cause danger abroad and at home for immigrants, you need to realize this is unjust and fight for change.

I know, right? What a name. I thought these were wild daisies because they grow everywhere along the roadsides. When I looked up daisies they all had 12 petals and this flower has eight. After much painstaking research (what I do for my Flickr pals), I discovered it is Coreopsis Verticillata, sometimes known as tickseed. This is a small flower with a diameter of 1” to 2” across, yet it is in the sunflower family. It is a perennial and grows from 1 to 2 feet tall. I also discovered that it grows in the eastern United States from the State of Maryland south to Georgia.
I was trying to do a slider, but I don’t really have the right apps for that, so please feel free to criticize. HSS

Neue Pinakothek, München
"Today’s Neue Pinakothek opened its doors in 1981 and replaces the previous building dating back to 1853 that was destroyed in the Second World War. Ludwig I. had commissioned the construction, which was designed by Friedrich Gärtner und August Voit and to stand on the site opposite the Alte Pinakothek, as a gallery for his collection of contemporary painting. His vision was to facilitate a dialogue between the art of his day and the Old Masters, who were seen as role models. Whereas Leo von Klenze’s Alte Pinakothek was rebuilt by Hans Döllgast after the Second World War, the ruins of the Neue Pinakothek were demolished and replaced by a modern, new building in accordance with the plans of Alexander von Branca, which incorporated not only the gallery of the Neue Pinakothek but also the administration of the Bayerische Staatsgemäldesammlungen and the Doerner Institute. The exterior of Branca’s Neue Pinakothek was sometimes criticized because of the striking references to historical form and style elements. However, the interior is undisputedly regarded as one of the best museum buildings of the post-war period in Germany thanks to the richly varied sequence of outstandingly well lit rooms oriented to meet the requirements of the works on display."
"On 31 December 2018 the Neue Pinakothek will close to the public for structural reasons and in preparation for a comprehensive renovation scheme. A selection of masterpieces of 19th-century art will be shown from the summer of 2019 onwards on the groundfloor of the Alte Pinakothek (East Wing) and in the Sammlung Schack."

🎤 Lyrics: David Guetta - Titanium ft. Sia
[Verse 1]
You shout it out, but I can't hear a word you say
I'm talking loud, not saying much
I'm criticized, but all your bullets ricochet
You shoot me down, but I get up
[Pre-Chorus]
I'm bulletproof, nothing to lose
Fire away, fire away
Ricochet, you take your aim
Fire away, fire away
[Chorus]
You shoot me down, but I won't fall
I am titanium
You shoot me down, but I won't fall
I am titanium
Sweet remembrance of all the strong mothers in my family. A bright Mother's Day to all mothers in the world and peace and strength especially to those in war zones.
While some countries have a multi-century history of a day to celebrate mothers, the modern American version of the holiday began in the United States in the early 20th century at the initiative of Anna Jarvis, who organized the first Mother's Day service of worship and celebration at Andrews Methodist Episcopal Church in Grafton, West Virginia in 1907, which serves as the International Mother's Day Shrine today. The American version of Mother's Day has been criticized for having become too commercialized. Jarvis herself, who began the celebration as a liturgical observance, regretted this commercialism and expressed that this was never her intention. In response, Constance Adelaide Smith successfully advocated for Mothering Sunday as a commemoration of a broader definition of motherhood in many other parts of the English-speaking world. The west Texas desert isn't the place you would visit to do street photography. However, if you put a Prada store out in the middle of it you'll find it draws an amazing array of people to photography. However, Prada Marfa isn't a real Prada store. It’s a permanent sculptural art installation by artists Elmgreen and Dragset. Wikipedia describes it as “The site-specific of Prada Marfa invites for a comparison with other art movements such as minimalism and land art, which are equally dependent on the site where they are placed. Prada Marfa relies almost entirely on its context for its critical effect. The “sculptural Intervention” can be interpreted as criticism of consumerism, luxury branding and gentrification, but whether intentionally or not, it is also argued it reinforces the capitalist values it criticizes.”
