What do I miss about living in Queens?

 

1. Being near my parents so I can have some home cooked Filipino food!

2. If my parents can't feed me, being near Filipino restaurants!

 

I love Ihawan for their chicken bbq, laing (taro leaves, shrimp & coconut milk) and atchara (pickled papaya, raisins, carrots & garlic).

 

Josh likes the pork bbq (pictured here). He was getting mad because I hijacked his food... I thought his dish would look better for the shot. Normally he's patient but he was starving :p

 

The original Ihawan is located in Woodside and Ihawan 2 recently opened in Long Island City.

'Crave' A peephole view in to the 8ft x 4ft 3D portable crate/ Tardis sculpture. Polyurethane foam, wax , paper, wood, vegetables and fruit in latex , discarded rubbish made into unexpected forms . An interactive installation ; cave like interior and crate like exterior , which reveals an illusionary absorbing kingdom from every angle and height.

Stopped in on the Paddlefest for a bit today at the Lake. A local kayak shop does a demo day and all the manufacturers let you demo their 'yaks all day if you pay a $10 demo fee. It's the best way to try out different boats before you spend all that money on it. I was considering buying a Hobie kayak last year that is actually powered by foot pedals (as opposed to paddling), but the price and weight of the boat turned me off so I ended up buying a different one instead that I could hoist on my vehicle by myself and was much less expensive. The Hobie's are really nice, but very pricey. Maybe if I win the lottery...until then, I guess I just have to crave having a Hobie.
