COWBOY BEBOP.

Listen, when things get a little too hot, sometimes you need to make a break for it... and break a few things in the process! Take it from the O.G. space cowboy himself.

A new Iron Forge contest was the best excuse for me to actually build a complete MOC for the first time in a year, and the seed parts for the first round (swords in the minifig weapons Bricklink category) gave me the perfect spaceship to build in microscale… one that’s flown by Spike Spiegel!

The Airborne Weapons Platform B1 (AWP-B1 for short) was an internationally used military fighter aircraft used throughout the Unifying War between 2312 and 2329. Its hollow wings could be equipped with a wide range of useful tech and weapons ranging from sensor array over communication antennas to missile launchers. Initially shipped in a bright yellow color and featuring a big sphere like cockpit, which was reminiscent of an insect eye, a subtle hint to the reconnaissance function of the craft, it was quickly dubbed „Banana Bug“ by soldiers all over the world. Due to its high speed and cheap maintainability the craft remained in service even after the conflict and was later used in smaller interplanetary campaigns by the United Earth Forces.

I always wanted to build an aircraft in a retro sci-fi style, like it is found in series like Cowboy Bebop. When I stumbled upon the two boat pieces and the half sphere cockpit, push came to shove and a few unstable connections resulted in this colorful ship. I hope you like it as much as I do!

I love Cowboy Bebop...

And keep in mind that my red sloped supply is basically non-existent. This is a really hard shape to get right, especially with integrating that huge sphere in the middle...

and sorry guys, no Spike. I tried to make him all purist, but I didn't have the right hair or torso...

Some progress of my minifig scale Swordfish II from Cowboy Bebop. I wanted to make a really compact, sturdy, swooshable version. Its in roughly the same scale as LEGO's X-Wing sets. The wings fold up and the cockpit opens to fit a full minifig.

The thruster is a little too small (it was that or make it disproportionately large), and I haven't figured out how to make compact enough folding landing gear (might not be possible at this scale).

Modeled and rendered using Stud.io. Eventually I'll buy the pieces I need to build it for real.

The Swordfish V was the first ship built by Miles after taking over Doohan’s shipyard, following the older mechanic’s reluctant retirement in 2079. Miles took the Swordfish V as an opportunity to make all the changes and upgrades to the original ship that Doohan had always resisted: bigger engines, a second plasma cannon, more modern internal hardware; the lot. Miles’ “upgrades” though mostly served to make the spaceplane much more difficult to fly, particularly in the hands of a less-capable pilot.

I enjoyed SHIPtember a great deal this year, so thought I would build something for Nnovvember too! I also recently finished rewatching the always-excellent Cowboy Bebop (the anime, not the more recent Netflix adaptation), so thought I would combine the two, and build this Vic Viper variant of the Swordfish II. I also wanted to build a starfighter with retractable landing gear, which was something I have not really done before.

I have a second VV in the works too that I should hopefully finish and upload in the next week or so.

Faye Valentine's zipcraft from the anime Cowboy Bebop

Part 2 of my micro Cowboy Bebop zipcraft series.

Three vehicles representing three great Japanese anime films/series. The Swordfish II from Cowboy Bebop (by Chris Hoffman), the Alakuneda Think Tank from Ghost in the Shell (by myself), and Kaneda's Bike from Akira (by Hachiroku24). The Alakuneda Think Tank has since been upgraded to a more accurate version.

A back view shot of my recent model, the Banana Bug.

Cowboy Bebop is still my favorite anime series and this is Spike's ship, the most iconic spacecraft!

Big shout-out to Adrian Florea. I wouldn't be able to build this, without getting inspiration from his creation.

Features:

- foldable wings

- movable plasma cannon

- opening mechanism on the engine

- landing gear

My LEGO model of the Bebop from Cowboy Bebop! 971 pieces, 30.7cm/12in long.

Lovingly packed with detail.

The mini zipcraft were really fun! Really so happy with how this entire model came out, and that I was able to make a model celebrating one of my fav shows!

This model was made for a commission, they were kind enough to let me post them on my site as well.

Okay, three, two, one, let's build...

This is a picture that was lost in the 124 flicker's server ate on me and I decided to bring back as it bring up fond memories.

I was dating a girl named Morgen as well as a girl named Tree simultaneously a "throuple" if you will. For while it worked and I was quite content but eventually...

I was left behind by Tree while Tree continued on with another - but keeping Morgen. This pic though shows what Morgen and I loved doing the most - relaxing, cuddling and watching Cowboy Bebop.

I miss Morgen. It was My decision to end the friendship with her later and I have regrets about doing that, but what can I do now?

For a time though, the three of us were wonderfully happy and nights like this one were the regular, not the exception.

You were a good friend Morgen. I am sorry on ending that with you. I am glad you and Tree are so together still. I check in on you two now and then through Flickr. "Compersion" still sits within me in the way you taught me.

Take care Space Cowgirl...

Updated version of my minifig-scale Swordfish II model, taking advantage of some new slope pieces. I think this is about as close to perfect as I'll be able to get at this scale. The wings fold up and the cockpit fits a full minifig. 152 parts.

SEE YOU SPACE COWBOY...

Faye Valentine is one of the main characters of the cult anime, Cowboy Bebop. I have been itching to draw her since March this year. Not knowing that Netflix has been planning for a live series adaptation with filming that started around April/June this year here in Auckland, New Zealand, my hometown and just around the corner. :D What a coincidence... Drawing to be printed in A2 size. :)

Drawn using Procreate, ipad pro 12.9 and apple pen

Funny ain't it

Games people play

Scratch it paint it

One in the same

We couldn't find them

So we tried to hide them

Words that we couldn't say

It hurts don't it

Fools on parade

Taint it own it

Chase it away

We couldn't make them

So we had to break them

Words that we couldn't say

Sometimes baby

We make mistakes

Dark and hazy

Prices we pay

I sit here on my shelf

Just talking to myself

Words that we couldn't say

Someday maybe

We'll make it right

Until that day

Long endless nights

We couldn't say them

So now we just pray them

Words that we couldn't say

From the great Cowboy Bebop soundtrack!
