The cow stood still like it enjoyed being photographed. Or else it was daring me to get closer. Thanks to Zetong Li for part of the background image since I had to eliminate a goat that photobombed the portrait.
I came across the magnificent Highland Bull on the Auchnamurchan Peninsula where he was watching the traffic go by.
A stunning animal and my favourite breed.
No new shots yet, so as I missed last week thought I’d better try and conjure something up for this week! I had a few just bokeh images from last year and although I liked them wasn’t sure anyone else would! Then yesterday I thought maybe I’d try and merge in a detailed flower among the bokeh.. I’ve got a few different colour versions of this, can’t make up my mind..
Happy Umbellifer Wednesday! :)

Taken during the fall, a cow Musk Ox walks past the photographer. Taken near Franklin Bluffs on the Sagavanirktok River, (Sag River for short), the sun was setting given a golden hue on the already yellow tundra.
The horns of the gal muskox are much thinner at the base and have a bigger gap between them. Guy muskoxen are bigger that females too, but they need to be standing side by side to easily see the difference. In the case of the bull photo posted yesterday vs. the cow here, the cow looks bigger. That's due to the further distance at which the bull was photographed and the angle of the pose.
This beauty was a little harder to settle, staying on all fours during my storytelling and occasionally slobbering on me
Starting a tribute to the ladies with this shot of two elk cows found in Bighorn National Forest, Wyoming.
When it comes to species such as moose, elk and bison, wildlife photographers tend to favor the big bulls with massive horns and antlers. But the females of those species deserve a little photo love too. So here's the first of four shots giving attention to the ladies.
It was interesting to see the different stages of shedding here. The closer cow had shed almost all her winter coat, while the other cow still had most of her winter coat.

Drove down to Tok Alaska today to visit my brother in law. Seen a very large bull moose but he was gone as fast as we seen him. Did find this beautiful cow moose browsing on young willows though that was not camera shy. Took about 25 photos of her as she modeled for us and then went on our way. She was healthy looking for this time of year, hopefully, she will bear young this spring.
usually they will bunch together, but this storm was actually not too violent... and they know. Cows know.

It had been a long time since we had seen a moose in this area, then all of a sudden we saw three in the same day. This cow moose was in the trees at the top of the pass in Emigration Canyon, Idaho. She had a calf nearby, which made her dangerous. We stayed in the car when we took photos.
The friendly cow all red and white,
I love with all my heart:
She gives me cream with all her might,
To eat with apple-tart.
She wanders lowing here and there,
And yet she cannot stray,
All in the pleasant open air,
The pleasant light of day;
And blown by all the winds that pass,
And wet with all the showers,
She walks among the meadow grass
And eats the meadow flowers.
