"In my youth, daydreaming nurtured me, provided a safe haven. I'd sleep for twelve hours and even when awake escape to the safe place in my mind."

I see this life, like a swinging vine,

Swing my heart across the line,

And in my face's flashing signs,

Seek it out and ye' shall find.

Old, but I'm not that old,

Young, but I'm not that bold,

And I don't think the world is sold,

On just doing what we're told.

I-I-I-I feel something so right,

Doing the wrong thing,

I-I-I-I feel something so wrong,

Doing the right thing,

I couldn't lie, couldn't lie, couldn't lie,

Everything that kills me makes me feel alive.

Lately, I've been, I've been losing sleep,

Dreaming about the things that we could be,

But baby, I've been, I've been praying hard,

Said no more counting dollars,

We'll be counting stars.

My 16th Winter Count. The mid-January photo is a bit different because there's nothing in it that says Winter, it is a view over Riddarholmen from Monteliusvägen at Mariaberget. We had a school shooting in February. Eleven people died, including the shooter. This photo shows flags at half-mast at the Royal Palace the day after that horrible incident. In March, I obviously ate a semla during Fat Tuesday. I got a virus in April and was out of action for two weeks. So I missed most of the Cherry Blossom mania, but managed to visit Kungsträdgården at the end of that frenzy. Sköna maj. Everyone's favorite month. When all the colors returns. Somenone stole my eBike in June. A bigger blow than I had ever expected. Quite a few walks with camera through the old town this year, snapping away at tourists. I checked out two classic car meets in August. This one is from Sveavägen. Sure was a fine Autumn day in September when I took this candid photo of a happy woman at Vattentorget. Can't have a Winter Count without a photo of That Old Tree. I took a few night shots as we entered the 100 Days of darkness. We finish with a photo from the Nobel Lights Week.

I used to ask people to try and count the sheep in some of landscape shots. This time if anyone is suffering from insomnia maybe counting these cows may help :-)

Do you ever wonder how many sunsets this rock has seen?

Sometimes I do.

Something I threw together in my free time

What is this...that stands before me?

Figure in black...which points at me...

Turn round quick...and start to run...

Find out I'm...the chosen one!

"Clancy, I should be the one saying that."

I asked you to and you declined.

"No, you asked me to sing it like the Black Sabbath

song and I declined."

You're not much of a Halloween person, are you?

"Hey, I'm a great Halloweener."

More like a great Halloweiner. And speaking of weiners,

my diet is finished, right?

"Yes. You've lost five pounds sinse April 1 and look

fine to me. The vet said I should see an hourglass

shape when I look at you from above, and if I'm not

seeing an hourglass shape, I'm at least seeing a

3/4hourglass shape, good enough for me. So, yes,

when we get home you can have a weiner."

Really? I take it back, Dad, you're a Hallowinner!

(Happy Halloween and stay safe, from Count Clancy, B-Rat and Ding-Bat!) (And me!)

In Mingala Market in Nyaungshwe near Inle Lake.

"1 sheep, 2 sheeps, 3 sheeps, 4..."

"Barney it's not sheeps is sheep!"

"Pfft. 5 sheeps, 6 sheeps.... ....29 sheeps, 30 sheeps"

"You'll send yourself to sleep counting all those sheep Barney!"

"Won't. I'm gonna send YOU to sleep then, then, I'm gonna go round up all the sheeps and me and some other collies from down the hill are gonna have a sheep trial!"

"You mean a sheepdog trial!"

"No. I haven't done anything wrong, it's the sheep that are on trial. Bad things them are. With their bleatin and worrying dogs and stuff."

You can't see them here, but there were sheep all around the spot I took this! They teased poor Barney all day long, popping out of the undergrowth in front of him and trotting jauntily ahead, just out of reach (he was on a lead!)... Barney is friendly with cows, he is polite with horses and cats and slightly frightened by chickens and goats but sheep are just too tempting - he can't help trying to stalk them, so he stays on a lead around them, apart from when I'm standing still, taking a photo of him, when he knows to stay put!!

Well, you'll never guess what but I'm back at university again! This time, I'm at Birmingham, which is great as I can commute up from home. For the time being, I'm only going up for three months - to work on a research project, but it's very likely I'll actually be there a lot longer - possibly doing a PhD next year. It's all happened so quickly, I can barely believe it! My dad works for a professor at the university and mentioned me to him a couple of weeks ago. At the end of last week, I went and had a chat with him and this Wednesday, I was offered the temporary job. I pretty much started the project that day! It's all rather sudden but I'm very pleased as I'm sure you can imagine :)

Hope you all have a fantastic weekend!

There are three great white sharks in this shot, along with two yellowfin tuna, and a yellowtail amberjack. Can you spot them all?

Citadel Forcalquier

On the site of the castle of the Counts of Forcalquier, whose bases remain to the south, today stands the Chapel Notre Dame de Provence.

The first stone was laid in 1868 and the chapel was inaugurated on September 12, 1875.

In its neo-Byzantine style, its octagonal shape is topped by a dome that serves as a pedestal for a statue of the Virgin.

Originally the carillon had 20 bells, it has today 15.

In 1939, this building was designated by the name of Our Lady of Peace, entrusting the bells of the Citadel with the task of protecting Forcalquier.

The Carillon rhythm the year of traditional music of Provence every Sunday at 11:30, and for the main festivals.

It is one of the very few hand chimes of Provence practicing the traditional game "with punch".
