I couldn't believe my luck when this lady decided to walk up to me and a few moments later we were both sitting down on the grass together, she even had her chin resting on my thigh and let me stroke her a few times. About ten minutes later she got up and looked straight into my eyes as if to say, 'I'm off now do you want to take my portrait before I go'. This is one urban wildlife moment I wont forget in a hurry.
I couldn't get anywhere near this New Holland Honeyeater to take photos, but I figured it would not be bothered by a car. So I drove up next to the Fuchsia, rolled down the window and took photos to my heart's content.
Hi there,
I couldn't believe my eyes when I found a rose with a Four-spotted Skimmer perched on it, basking in the morning sun. Further, the pond was well away from the flower garden which made it a doubly surprising find. The rose was definitely the preferred flower for insects that morning because a few bees tried to visit the rose. However, the dragonfly would have none of that. Each time a bee flew too close, the dragonfly chased it away then immediately returned to the rose. I just love unexpected finds and this was one of them.
Thanks a million for stopping by and for leaving a comment. I do love hearing from you!
Have a wonderful day!

Couldn't resist this reflection on the façade of a building in New York City the other day. I don't know the name of the building but I believe it was between 5th-6th Ave. and probably around 34th St. (I think)
every photograph excludes something? Even in framing and cropping?

I couldn't decide if the whole mast needed to be in the picture or not. It's more sky then I like. What do you think? Could I have cut that mast in half and not lose the effects or not?
Happy New Week everyone
Couldn't help but enjoy the various fall colors on these leaves and the bokeh, just the right light. Hope you enjoy them too.
I posted this as the lead photo because I found it most interesting and dramatic; in composition, light playing on the leaves and their veins, and of course the frosting on the cake...the bokeh. I had to reposition myself several times just to get a nice balance of the bokeh with the subject (the leaves).
Thank you for stopping by, flickr friends...much appreciated.

I had my first cataract surgery yesterday (went well) and the first thing I noticed was how much cooler some colors are....blues, oh those blues!...bright and vibrant. Then I had to go to my photo stream on flickr and see these new color tones (to me:-) Wow.
But I'm kind of missing all the warm tones that I used to see....
The ophthalmologist told me that Van Gogh and Gauguin had their Blue periods of art when they painted with lots of blue....turned out they had cataracts. I assume she is correct.
I couldn't really see what he was eating, but he seemed more interested in breakfast than me..:)
Went to the Veterans clinic in Temple on Monday. They wanted to do another biopsy on my prostate. They always seems to have to do everything twice. Drives me crazy. Gotta tell ya, that's a long 2 hour drive back. I had to stop halfway for some Tylenol. Seems like it hurt more this time.
Anyway, the Rock Stacking Festival is this coming weekend. I volunteered again. Hope the weathers nice
#I couldn't fit the window sill in and keep the flower focus within the bounds of the size for the group but it is on a window sill!....
Amazing Nature, I really like these flowers that come up each year for a few weeks so I tried my hand at photostacking, I hope you like them :-)
Couldn't get a very good shot, but I had to share this photo. Pug loving Chippy now has his very own log cabin! LOL He's been in there everyday making himself right at home. Have a wonderful new week Flickr friends!

I would like to thank all of you that have taken the time to view and comment on my photos, it is very much appreciated.
This was just a few hours ago enjoy....
While taking this photo this song was on my ipod:
Time was drifting, this rock had got to roll
So, I hit the road and made my getaway
Restless feeling, really got a hold
I started searching for a better way
And I kept on looking for a sign in the middle of the night
But, I couldn't see the light, no, I couldn't see the light
I kept on looking for a way to take me through the night.-

I couldn't resist getting out with the camera right here in Iowa today, even though it was -15 F in the morning, about the same temperature as in Sax-Zim Bog MN last week. There are no Canada jays here, but we do have its colorful blue jay cousin.
Couldn't resist sharing this photo of a fox squirrel having its way with one of the sunflower feeders. Thanks to all who visit and comment. I will be sure to visit your photostreams in return.
Just couldn't resist this one while we were at Galaxidi. It felt like like the place was teasing me and my camera, presenting me with new images, playing with every little trick in its sleeve. Ohhh well who am I to deny that play... It was game on from the get go, I just didn't know it then!!! :-)
I couldn't resist the temptation to zoom in a bit more…..
Details of the Tokyo Tower.
It reminds me a bit of 'Meccano'.
Info from WiKi:
""Meccano is a model construction system created in 1898 by Frank Hornby in Liverpool, United Kingdom. The system consists of reusable metal strips, plates, angle girders, wheels, axles and gears, and plastic parts that are connected using nuts and bolts. It enables the building of working models and mechanical devices.""

Couldn't resist the temptation of a 3rd visit for this North American migrant.
Every day has different lighting conditions, also she came in quite close which was a nice bonus as previously the pool had been 90% iced over, this time the duck had far more freedom which could have been difficult to get a decent image.

Another day, another cookie. But something was different this morning. Sid didn't wake up with his usual ravenous craving for breakfast cookies (which would be followed by lunch, snack, dinner, and night snack cookies). He woke up with pangs of conscience. Was it right what he was doing? Eating cookies, cookies cookies? When he had taken a look at himself in the mirror the other day, he all of a sudden had a Dejá Vu. A cookie Dejá Vu. Oh dear, he felt panic rising. Was it possible that... he? Sid? Was... a cookie, too?!? He looked at the delicious-looking chocolate chip cookie right in front of him. "Hel...lo?", he asked with a quivering voice. "Can... can you hear me?" A somewhat deafening silence answered him. Next, he heard a familiar grumbling coming from below. And it was more than the usual "Me hungry, where are me cookies?" grumbling. This time, the grumbling in his stomach spoke to him. "Sid, Sid, Sid," it said. "You moron! You aren't a cookie, you are a macaroon. Ma-ca-roon. A fabulous Italian Brutti ma Buoni. Made with nocciole italiane. You are Sid. You are special. Capiche?" Sid sighed. A huge weight was lifted from his mind. "I'm Italian?", he asked in bewilderment. A big smile appeared on his face. "Wow! I must tell Grover, Kermit, and all the others when they come over for my birthday cookie party. I'm so proud!" And with an earsplitting growl of "Coooookkkieeees, Me Eeeeeat!!!!" he dug into his favourite type of cookie, the chocolate chip cookie right in front of him – and the world's shortest existential crisis ever had dissolved into thin air. Or rather: into crumbles.
Unbeknownst to Sid, however, Brutti ma Buoni (which means "ugly but good") are very much classified as biscuits. Just like the more obvious choice, the quinoa chocolate chip cookie on the small wooden fork. And both are delicious ;) Btw, did you know that the Cookie Monster has a name? Well, he does, and it is Sid. A fact that I learned when I did some research to refresh my Sesame Street knowledge. The Cookie Monster revealed his name as late as 2004, long after my own Sesame Street days, so I'm not surprised I didn't know ;)
Ingredients: an Italian hazelnut macaron, dyed blue with food colour, and adorned with modeling clay eyes, a chocolate chip cookie, a wooden fork (from an instant noodle bowl), a wooden drip mat, black foam sheet as backdrop, soft light from above. This is my test shot, a single photo taken in shadow priority mode. The width of the frame is 6,5 cm / 2,5 inches. It's not the technically most brilliant capture, but I somehow liked it even with all its shortcomings, so I decided to keep it short and simple this time. In fact, doing the write-up took much longer than taking the photo ;)
I'm very busy today, so I'll catch up with you tonight. HMM, Everyone!
The conditions couldn't have been better for this. Godrays, fjords, sunset, an amazing vista. When you're traveling it's not always possible to time your visit at the best time in terms of light or even weather. I was incredibly lucky to have such a great sunset and was able to capture this moment in time.

I couldn't help but notice you were sitting by yourself
Dropping limes in a Corona like you're trying to get over somebody else
It's funny how you're story sounds a little like mine
Oh, cause' I've been at a table with a bottle peeling labels to pass the time
We can be blue eyes and neon light
Singing them sad up songs all night
We can say goodbye, just head home
But, if we're going to be alone
We should be alone together
Kissing over there in the corner where nobody else can see
Keeping each other company
We should be alone together
The Burrowing Owl
Couldn’t entice this little guy to come out of his burrow and pose for a portrait, so I settled for a head shot…Life is Good !!!
Burrowing Owls are small, sandy colored owls with bright-yellow eyes. They live underground in burrows they’ve dug themselves or taken over from a prairie dog, ground squirrel, or tortoise. They live in grasslands, deserts, and other open habitats, where they hunt mainly insects and rodents. Their numbers have declined sharply with human alteration of their habitat and the decline of prairie dogs and ground squirrels.
Before laying eggs, Burrowing Owls carpet the entrances to their homes with animal dung, which attracts dung beetles and other insects that the owls then catch and eat. They may also collect bottle caps, metal foil, cigarette butts, paper scraps, and other bits of trash at the entrance, possibly signifying that the burrow is occupied.
Burrowing Owls have a higher tolerance for carbon dioxide than other birds—an adaptation found in other burrowing animals, which spend long periods underground, where the gas can accumulate to higher levels than found above ground.
Unlike most owls in which the female is larger than the male, the sexes of the Burrowing Owl are the same size.
Burrowing Owls often stow extra food to ensure an adequate supply during incubation and brooding. When food is plentiful, the birds' underground larders can reach prodigious sizes. One cache observed in Saskatchewan in 1997 contained more than 200 rodents.
The oldest known Burrowing Owl was at least 9 years, 11 months old when it was sighted in California in 2014.

I couldn't resist a detour to Castlerigg's famous stone circle as I passed close by on the A66 earlier today. Despite being a crisp, winter's day, there were very few people around so it was possible to get a few clean shots of the stones.
Lifer for me.
I couldn't resist heading over to Attenborough for another attempt to photograph this attractive little bird. It now seems to be favouring the back hedge of the sewage works alongside the railway line, so views are rather more distant than is optimal, with trains thundering past very frequently to spice things up.
The bird lives up to its 'sprite' nickname, rapidly flitting along and up and down the hedge from top to bottom in its search for food, often deep in the vegetation, so that it is hard to spot, especially confusing amongst the Goldcrests and Chiffchaffs around and extremely challenging to photograph well. Comes down to pot luck, really.
It was again largely dull and overcast on Thursday (we really could do with a decent day or two), light was again poor in the hedge and it never showed in those odd moments when the sun actually peeped through. At one point here it popped out to the front in this sallow. The shots are a tad soft, due to the slow shutter, low light, distance and quick movements of the bird, though I also gave it too much exposure comp, from testing a darker part of the hedge just before! That said, I liked the context so here's one of the shots I took.
Thanks for your faves and comments, much appreciated.
I couldn't resist shooting the other way after the first shot .We just don't get stars like this in the city. I was just amazed. Vlog below..
I really couldn't resist sharing the second photo. The colours and the mood do have changed, you can see, right? So I told myself it's a completely different photo and the two are not the same 😅
I do miss enjoying the changing colour of the sunset skies. I remember capturing photos after photos as a kid - just in case I don't miss any moment - and creating a pile of them which later would make me regret as I couldn't choose which one to choose and which to erase. I had a pile of magical masterpiece moments but they all are dead with the old laptop.
The one who named the moment 'golden hour' was so right in doing so, it really is an hour so golden; and precious too.
(Shall I call this one 'golden enchantment'? ;))
PS. Today the sky had soft pink & violet clouds, but I didn't capture any photo. Simply spent some time enjoying them passing by fast and changing into more greyish blue, though not being able to get absorbed in the moment with the studies for tomorrow's regular tests in mind. Yet I was there, for I made a prayer yesterday, and I knew it was heard...
Couldn't help but have a go at a mono version of Sunday's photo. I think I prefer it.
