IC 5146 (also Caldwell 19, Sh 2-125, and the Cocoon Nebula) is a reflection/emission nebula in the constellation of Cygnus. The distance is about 4,000 light years away. When viewing IC 5146, dark nebula Barnard 168 (B168) is an inseparable part of the experience, forming a dark lane that surrounds the cluster and projects westward forming the appearance of a trail behind the Cocoon.

In East Asian folklore, the Phaya Naga (Thai: พญานาค; literally: lord of nāga) are nāga, serpent-like creatures, believed by locals to live in the Mekong river or estuaries. Thai folklore holds the Phaya Naga to be semi-divine, demi-creatures, which possess supernatural powers as has been described in Buddhist and Hindu cosmology. The "Kamchanod Forest", Ban Dung District, Udon Thani province, which is held in high reverence and fear across Thailand, is believed to be the border between the human world and the netherworld, and is frequently depicted in Thai folklore as the site of many hauntings, but more frequently is considered to be the home of the Naga.
Warsaw University Library roof garden, covering an area of over 1 ha, is one of the largest roof gardens in Europe. The garden is divided into two parts: the upper and the lower part, which are joined by a cascading stream.
The lower part includes amongst others a fish pond, where ducks have taken residence, as well as a series of granite sculptures on cosmological themes. The upper garden comprises of four parts: the golden part (to the north), the silver part (to the east), the crimson part (to the south) and the green part (to the west). Each one features different vegetation whose colors reflect their names.
Individual sections of the garden are connected by paths, bridges and pergolas. The rooftop is also an ideal viewing point of Warsaw’s panorama as well as the library interiors.

Atacama Cosmology Telescope on Cerro Toco, just north of the Llano de Chajnantor.
The Atacama Cosmology Telescope (ACT) is a six-metre telescope on Cerro Toco in the Atacama Desert in the north of Chile, near the Llano de Chajnantor Observatory. It is designed to make high-resolution, microwave-wavelength surveys of the sky in order to study the cosmic microwave background radiation (CMB). At an altitude of 5,190 metres (17,030 ft), it is one of the highest permanent, ground-based telescopes in the world.
Erected in the (austral) autumn of 2007, ACT saw first light on 22 October 2007 with its science receiver, the Millimeter Bolometer Array Camera (MBAC), and completed its first season in December 2007. It began its second season of observations in June 2008.
The project is a collaboration between Princeton University, Cornell University, the University of Pennsylvania, NASA/GSFC, the Johns Hopkins University, the University of British Columbia, NIST, the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, the University of KwaZulu-Natal, Cardiff University, Rutgers University, the University of Pittsburgh, Columbia University, Haverford College, West Chester University, INAOE, LLNL, NASA/JPL, the University of Toronto, the University of Cape Town, the University of Massachusetts Amherst and York College, CUNY. Pachamama is a goddess revered by the indigenous people of the Andes. She is also known as the earth/time mother. In Inca mythology, Pachamama is a fertility goddess who presides over planting and harvesting, embodies the mountains, and causes earthquakes. She is also an ever-present and independent deity who has her own self-sufficient and creative power to sustain life on this earth.[1] Her shrines are hallowed rocks, or the boles of legendary trees, and her artists envision her as an adult female bearing harvests of potatoes and coca leaves.
The four cosmological Quechua principles – Water, Earth, Sun, and Moon – claim Pachamama as their prime origin. Priests sacrifice llamas, cuy (guinea pigs), and elaborate, miniature, burned garments to her. Pachamama is the mother of Inti the sun god and Mama Killa the moon goddess. Pachamama is said to also be the wife of Inti, her son.
In pre-Hispanic culture, Pachamama was often a cruel goddess eager to collect her sacrifices. After the Spanish colonization of the Americas, conversion to Roman Catholicism took place and the figure of the Virgin Mary was equated with that of the Pachamama for many of the indigenous people.

This is the sight you encounter after going through the southern Gopuram gate. Prasat Hin Phimai is known to be a typical Khmer architecture similar to Angkor Wat in style.
The inner sanctuary of the Prasat accommodates three tower-like structures called Prang, namely, Prang Hin Daeng (red stone tower), Prang Prataan (main tower) and Prang Prahmatadt (Prahmatadt tower) from left to right.
The main tower is designed after Mt. Sumeru (or Meru) that is the mythical mountain in the centre of the world according to the Hindu and Buddhist cosmology. It is called Shumisen (須弥山) in Japanese meaning Mt. Sumeru and is a popular theme of designing Japanese gardens.

ART FUTURA by
Paul Friedlander (born 1951) is a light artist who first trained as a physicist. Friedlander obtained a bachelor's degree in Physics and Mathematics at the University of Sussex and was tutored by Sir Anthony Leggett who later was awarded a Nobel Prize for his work on superfluidity. In 1976 he graduated with a B.A. in Fine Art at Exeter College of Art, UK. Friedlander worked as a lighting and stage designer for theatrical productions and avant-garde music before devoting himself to kinetic art at the age of 36. He lives and works in London, United Kingdom (UK).
Many of his works make use of persistence of vision, a property of how light is perceived combined with movement to create a three dimensional kinetic body of light in sculptural form. Friedlander applies his scientific knowledge to his art and is heavily influenced by Chaos theory, String Theory and cosmology
The CMB is a cosmic background radiation that is fundamental to observational cosmology because it is the oldest light in the universe, dating to the epoch of recombination. With a traditional optical telescope, the space between stars and galaxies (the background) is completely dark. However, a sufficiently sensitive radio telescope shows a faint background glow, almost isotropic, that is not associated with any star, galaxy, or other object. This glow is strongest in the microwave region of the radio spectrum. The accidental discovery of the CMB in 1964 by American radio astronomers earned the 1978 Nobel Prize.

Only a cosmic sense that something really big is taking shape up ahead, Teilhard thought, can let us lift up our hearts in such a way that it may add incentive to our “intervening duties.” By harnessing nature’s own leaning toward the future Christian spirituality after Galileo, Darwin, and Big Bang cosmology can motivate our actions in a way that is fully consistent with the Christian doctrines of incarnation and redemption.
-THE COSMIC VISION OF
TEILHARD DE CHARDIN John F. Haught
The account of how I became increasingly aware of the cosmological and biological dimensions of existence is the story of my life. My quest for understanding this larger context of things conditioned all the decisions I made about my life. I saw life within its larger context, eventually within the context of the universe itself. I was immersed in the mystery of things, in the mysterious powers expressed in natural phenomena. The various living beings I experienced as integral with my own existence.

Messier 13 (M13), also designated NGC6205 and sometimes called theGreat Globular Cluster in Hercules or the Hercules Globular Cluster, is a globular cluster of about 300,000 stars in the constellation of Hercules.
M13 is about 145 light-years in diameter and is 25,100 light-years away from Earth.
It was discovered in 1714 by Edmund Halley.
A globular cluster is a spherical collection of stars that orbits a galactic core as as satellite. Globular clusters are very tightly bound by gravity, which gives them their spherical shapes and relatively high stellar densities toward their centres.

The golden plate visible in the Corincancha temple represents the 3 worlds according to the Incas: above the oval egg, the supreme deity, Huiracocha, the creative principle flanked by the Sun (Inti) and the Moon (Quilla). The world above is therefore that of the deities, who created the middle world, men, women, animals ... it is the earthly world. What is missing is the world below, the world of the dead. Only the first two are represented with the bottom of the human activity essential to the Incas agriculture represented by the grid space
I captured this in Monument Valley Utah as a storm was crossing the desert. It reminded me of the story of the Flood in the Bible and what Earth must have looked like during that time. The Title of this image represents that time period.
The meaning is " relating to the period before the flood described in the Bible "
The antediluvian period is the time period chronicled in the Bible between the fall of humans and the Genesis flood narrative in the biblical cosmology. The term was coined by Thomas Browne. The narrative takes up chapters 1–6 of the Book of Genesis. The term found its way into early geology and science until the late Victorian era. Colloquially, the term is used to refer to any ancient and murky period.
Antediluvian; (ante-di-lu-vi-an )

Although it is 320 meters less high and far less spectacular of a sight than it´s famous neighbour Licancabur, Cerro Toco still provides rewarding hiking opportunities. Novices can get a gentle introduction to high altitude climbing, while the views from the summit to the surrounding volcanos such as Licancabur and Lascar and beyond the bolovian border to Laguna Blanca are breathtaking. For more experienced climbers this is still a good summit to get acclimatised for trips to one of the nearby higher mountains.

LOW TIDE
As a young amateur astronomer, I loved gazing into the starry sky, merging into infinity, into the great All. There, I felt a sense of eternity and immutability that was beyond me. I could certainly understand what I was observing in terms of astronomy or cosmology. But it remained an intellectual reality that didn't allow me to translate what I felt in my body. My imagination then took over, imagining improbable worlds and fantastic odysseys where all beginnings and all destinies met—chimerical reveries.
Then, one day, I turned my gaze to the ground of my planet and to the living beings around me. I perceived the smells, textures, and songs of the Earth, the pulse of life, its fragility, and the inextricable bonds that unite me to the destiny of my planet. I felt these primordial truths in my body and in my mind. Like the day when, on a shore renowned for the magnitude of its tides, an ocean of small, shimmering pebbles of every color appeared at my feet at low tide. They evoked in my mind a "galaxy" of tiny worlds shining with indescribable beauty in the eternal night of space.
But this time, this galaxy was my habitat, here and now, and that of many other life forms whose impulses and fragility I felt. I understood then that, if a fantastic Odyssey were to take place, it would unfold here on Earth, in the meanders of the human soul. It would be called the Vital Odyssey, and it would consist of inventing a new art of inhabiting our living world.
Patrice

The Orion Nebula (also known as Messier 42, M42, or NGC 1976) is a diffuse nebula situated in the Milky Way, being south of Orion's Belt in the constellation of Orion. It is one of the brightest nebulae, and is visible to the naked eye in the night sky. M42 is located at a distance of 1,344 light years approx and is the closest region of massive star formation to Earth. The M42 nebula is estimated to be 24 light years across. It has a mass of about 2000 times the mass of the Sun. Older texts frequently refer to the Orion Nebula as the Great Nebula in Orion or the Great Orion Nebula
The Orion Nebula is one of the most scrutinized and photographed objects in the night sky, and is among the most intensely studied celestial features.[8] The nebula has revealed much about the process of how stars and planetary systems are formed from collapsing clouds of gas and dust. Astronomers have directly observed protoplanetary disks, brown dwarfs, intense and turbulent motions of the gas, and the photo-ionizing effects of massive nearby stars in the nebula.

If I had to ask a question of the infallible oracle . . . I think I should choose this: “Has the universe ever been at rest, or did the expansion start from the beginning?” But, I think, I would ask the oracle not to give the answer, in order that a subsequent generation would not be deprived of the pleasure of searching for and of finding the solution.

Recently the field of theoretical cosmology has been enervated by the suggestion that our universe is the mirror image of another one stretching back in time before the Big Bang (see, for example, www.research.ed.ac.uk/en/publications/icpti-symmetric-uni... ).
Intrigued, I set out to test whether this was observable in practice. After a quick calculation on the back of an old envelope (cigarette packets now being not Politically Correct) I worked out that conditions would be favourable for an experiment in the period around the vernal equinox for my latitude (51N). At this time the angles of the Earth’s gravitational field, the neutrino flux from the sun and a local EM field could be arranged to the optimum.
So, setting a sufficiently powerful Tesla coil in a glass envelope with an inert gas (I used Nitrogen), I tried it out.
And it worked!
Sometimes I could actually see the dim reflection of the alternate universe appear in the glass capsule, but perhaps the best result was this one where I managed to create a wormhole bridging the paired universes.
If you look carefully at the image though you might observe that the energetic feedback created by the wormhole burnt out my coil… such are the sacrifices of science…
---
Storytelling idiocy aside, this image was one of the fun results of an evening spent with a local friendly group of photographers taking images of lightbulbs on tablets (and other things but I didn’t get that far :( ).
I used a clear glass bulb on my iPaddle which I set up to show some very colourful graphic images that I had generated using Midjourney (I finally found something useful to do with that toybox… The text prompt for this one, if you are interested, was ‘Close - up macro HDR photograph of the centre of mirrored 3D circle sculptures, overlapping rainbow circular fractal, vivid rainbow colours, graphic abstract’).
The bulb was lying on its side at an angle resting on the bayonet fitting so I made the canvas larger and rotated it. Starting in Capture One I dropped the greys to black using a levels adjustment and played with the Clarity and a little Dehaze. In Affinity I sharpened it with High Pass/Linear blend and a bit of Unsharp mask and enriched the colour. Then quite a lot of work with inpainting to remove the vestiges of the iPad and a lot of dust.
PS I forgot to mention that this was a focus stack of ten images, though I suspect only four or five contributed anything useful. The camera did the focusing and I used Helicon Focus for the stacking, which I've not really done before (it was fast, worked with raws and produced a dng output).
Thanks for taking the time to look. I hope you enjoy the image. Happy Easter and 100x :)
Sesshuu-designed stone garden as seen from the main hall (本堂) of the Manpukuji (萬福寺) temple.
The main hall that forms the left edge of the photo was built in 1374. The garden was built in 1478 by inviting Sesshuu, a renowned painter and garden designer, from Yamaguchi.
The rock on the top of the mound in the centre is Mitate or a metaphor of Shumisen (須弥山) or Mt. Sumeru. It is originally a Hindu cosmology, in which the sacred mountain rises in the Sea of Creation. It was inherited by Buddhism and travelled a long distance to be adopted by the Japanese artist to design a garden.
Such gardens were originally used by monks for meditation.
Khmer temples with Baray water reservoirs are known to symbolise Mt. Sumeru and the Sea of Creation.
I had an impression in Vat Phou in Laos that the whole environs of the temple with huge Barays and a sacred peak looked like the Hindu cosmology.
The garden in the photo is also intended to be a miniature of the same cosmology.

Yggdrasil (from Old Norse Yggdrasill [ˈyɡːˌdrɑselː]), in Norse cosmology, is an immense and central sacred tree. Around it exists all else, including the Nine Worlds.
Yggdrasil is attested in the Poetic Edda compiled in the 13th century from earlier traditional sources, and in the Prose Edda written in the 13th century by Snorri Sturluson. In both sources, Yggdrasil is an immense ash tree that is center to the cosmos and considered very holy. The gods go to Yggdrasil daily to assemble at their traditional governing assemblies, called things. The branches of Yggdrasil extend far into the heavens, and the tree is supported by three roots that extend far away into other locations; one to the well Urðarbrunnr in the heavens, one to the spring Hvergelmir, and another to the well Mímisbrunnr. Creatures live within Yggdrasil, including the dragon Níðhöggr, an unnamed eagle, and the stags Dáinn, Dvalinn, Duneyrr and Duraþrór.
The generally accepted meaning of Old Norse Yggdrasill is "Odin's horse", meaning "gallows". This interpretation comes about because drasill means "horse" and Ygg(r) is one of Odin's many names. The Poetic Edda poem Hávamál describes how Odin sacrificed himself by hanging from a tree, making this tree Odin's gallows. This tree may have been Yggdrasil. Gallows can be called "the horse of the hanged" and therefore Odin's gallows may have developed into the expression "Odin's horse", which then became the name of the tree

Messier 3 (M3 or NGC 5272) is a globular cluster of stars in the northern constellation of Canes Venatici. It was discovered by Charles Messier on May 3, 1764, and resolved into stars by William Herschel around 1784.
This cluster is one of the largest and brightest, and is made up of around 500,000 stars. It is estimated to be 8 billion years old. It is located at a distance of about 33,900 light-years away from Earth.
A globular cluster is a spherical collection of stars that orbits a galactic core as as satellite. Globular clusters are very tightly bound by gravity, which gives them their spherical shapes and relatively high stellar densities toward their centres.

A five-story pagoda has a five-story roof. It is said that it consists of earth, water, fire, wind, and sky from the bottom, each representing the five worlds of the Buddhist cosmology.
This tower is rebuilt in 2008 entirely made of wood and is 39 meters high.
Here we have a look at M95, even on a 14.5" scope this is quite a small (barred spiral) galaxy ~38Mly away. Despite the challenge, I think it is a nice example of a SB(r)b galaxy and some nice details are showing.
In order to realise the detail and keep to a decent size image I had to first ensure the scale of the image was sufficient to work out through drizzling all the data. Once complete I was able gently, through many iterations release the detail that was present. This is certainly a good example of many smaller iterations of process applications having more impact than a few larger ones. Hope you enjoy.
For the pixel peepers out there is a strange blue star towards the bottom of the image - I wondered what I had done wrong . Having reviewed this is actually correct and not an aberration, It is SDSS J104429.50+113042.0 an RR lyrae variable star - the SDSS data shows this to be the correct colour.......
