The charming little hotel where I stayed in Venice had a terrace restaurant where I ate one night. The hotel was the home of the famous composer, Vivaldi, and was on St. Mark's Basin. It was also next to this great canal where one had a view of several bridges.

I look out of this window and I think this is a cosmos,
this is a huge creation, this is one small corner of it.
The trees and birds and everything else and I'm part of it.
I didn't ask to be put here, I've been lucky in
finding myself here.

Partly storm damage, but maybe some fences and gates have been removed to allow large fallen trees to be dragged, cut and disposed of ... there's so much rescue and repair work still to do! 😊
This was shot with the oldest Lensbaby optic I have - the Composer Pro 'double glass' optic, with the F-stops set by inserting disks into the optic itself!

A close-up of a colorful lily photographed at the Enabling Garden in Altoona, Iowa with a Lensbaby Sweet 50 lens. I used F4.0 on this shot, so I did lose some sharpness on a few of the stamen, but I thought it was still a decent photo.

A quick Lensbaby still-life photo taken in my living room with a porcelain tea cup and saucer sitting on a wooden Ethan Allen polygon-shaped end table with some books and a lamp. The window in the back has wooden shades and a thin blue decorator curtain that add some natural light effects to the image.

Jorge Liderman, colleague and friend for many years, committed suicide on Sunday. He was a brilliant composer whose work was full of vitality, melodic fluency, and bright colors. He was also a gentle, sweet man. May he rest in peace.

As a composer and as a musician I'm a true believer - and this is not to be overly diplomatic - I'm a believer that there's artistry in everything from a lawn gnome to a desk chair to a symphony to an Andy Warhol painting. There's art in absolutely everything. Darren Criss

Lake Massaciuccoli: A Natural Gem in Tuscany
Lake Massaciuccoli, located in the province of Lucca and bordered by Versilia, is a coastal lake of rare beauty. Its surface of 6.9 km² stretches between Massarosa and Torre del Lago Puccini, creating an oasis of peace and biodiversity.
Its calm and clear waters reflect the sky and the surrounding hills, while the rich marsh vegetation offers a refuge for numerous bird species, including herons, swans and flamingos. The Massaciuccoli LIPU oasis, located on the eastern shore of the lake, is a true paradise for birdwatchers.
In addition to its natural beauty, Lake Massaciuccoli is rich in history and culture. Its shores have been inhabited since prehistoric times, as evidenced by the archaeological finds in the area.
The lake is also linked to the life of Giacomo Puccini, the famous composer who spent his summers in his villa in Torre del Lago. His most famous work, Madama Butterfly, was inspired by the magical atmosphere of the lake.
