As the big city beach the Barceloneta is, it has anything you might wish for. Including an outdoor gym where you can keep up both muscles and suntan at the same time. This image is accompanied with another upload called "Barceloneta: Girls Compare"... and the soundtrack can be no other than "YMCA". Notes with other suggestions to what the guy on far right is thinking (or anyone else), are welcome!

GPW Heavyweight Title Match

Bubblegum © vs. Dirk Feelgood

Just a few months ago you'd be forgiven for taking a double take at this match. The friendship between the two former friends totally imploded with the desire to become Heavyweight champion. Refusing to accept the demise of his friendship with Dirk Feelgood, Bubblegum spent months in turmoil not wanting to retaliate to the cutting comments and brutal attacks levelled his way by former friend and champion Feelgood. As time went by however, Bubblegum eventually unloaded on Feelgood but this will be the first time the two have ever come face to face in a one on one match. And to make things just a little more interesting... it's for the GPW Heavyweight Title. Can the fairytale championship reign continue for Bubblegum, or can Dirk shatter his dreams and become the first ever 2 time Heavyweight Champ?

Tag Team Special, Skeletor vs. Stella

Lethal Dose vs. Voodoo & "Sober" Mike Holmes

Alan Alan Alan Tasker's henchmen, Lethal Dose march into battle against former stable member Mike Holmes and the man they hold responsible for Holmes' new found sobriety - Voodoo. Cyanide and Toxic hope to tempt Holmes back over to the stable that two months ago he turned his back on. They want to snap him out of the spell they accuse Voodoo of putting him under. However, Holmes seems very happy with his new outlook on life and he and Voodoo look to send Lethal Dose packing in this tag team special. Lethal Dose have warned they will not be coming to the ring alone though, with them along with their attorney and law - Alan Alan Alan Tasker will be a 12 pack of Stella. Hoping the case of beer will prove to be a bigger demon to Holmes than the tag team itself. To fend off the 12 pack, Holmes and Voodoo will have Vooodoo's trusty skull, Skeletor in their corner. An unpredictable tag team match. Can MIke Holmes stay sober? Will Voodoo's spells work? Or will Lethal Dose deliver a beating big enough to break Voodoo's spell?

GPW British Title Match

Jak Dominotrescu vs. "Super" Sam Bailey

After pinning the British Champion last month in a tag team match, WKD's "Super" Sam Bailey has earned himself a title shot at GPW: "Christmas Crunch". Bailey, already a former tag team champion looks to add to his growing reputation by capturing his first ever singles gold in GPW. While reigning champion, Romanian Jak Domitrescu along with his cohorts - The Eastern Bloc look to make life as difficult as possible for the energetic live wire. Domitrescu has held onto the title since April this year with help from his fellow countrymen, but are his days numbered as champ? He surely wont be alone in this title outing and will have the Eastern Bloc close by, but can "Super" Sam Bailey overcome the odds to win his first singles gold in GPW?

And, the main event for the evening is...

GPW Tag Team Title 2/3 Falls Match

MIl-Anfield Connection © vs. Young Offenders

The heat just got turned up in this feud. The re-united Young Offenders have the most established tag team in GPW - The Mil-Anfield Connection firmly in their sights and not to mention the tag team trophy. These two teams met in September this year where there was no clear winner decided after the match ended in a draw. There will be NO excuses this time to not find a winner. This, for the first time in our history will be a 2/3 Falls Match for the tag team titles. A winner HAS to be decided, but who will it be? A truley epic encounter is in our midst as Jiggy Walker & "The Model" Danny Hope try to cling onto the championship that has defined them as a team and "Dangerous" Damon Leigh & Joey Hayes, The Young Offenders chase the title that one of the most popular tag teams in Europe have never held. Can the re-united friends overcome the well established unit that is The Mil-Anfield Connection? Or can the well oiled duo of the Mil-Anfield do what they've been doing all year and win again?

GPW British Title No.1 Contenders Match

Harry Doogle vs. Juice vs. Dylan Roberts vs. Chris Echo

After an eye catchingly good year from rookie Dylan Roberts, he has been included in this battle to earn a shot at the British Title. With a burning desire to win and the fans firmly behind him, Roberts could well mark his arrival onto the main roster by becoming the No.1 Contender and going for gold here. However, his opponents wont give him an easy ride. In a wonderful CC-08 tournament, no one impressed more than WKD's Chris Echo. Echo reached the CC-08 finals with two broken wrists and proved he is ready to take a step up. His previous attempts for British gold have been thwarted by the foreign legion numbers of the Eastern Bloc, is he ready to prove again that he is worthy of being No.1 Contender and finally lift the British title? Juice, the current CC8 champion has been as impressive as ever in singles competition this year, but can he compete in this match with 3 others all vying to be No.1 Contender? Also replacing Jervis Cottonbelly due to injury is Harry Doogle as a last minute entry could one half of the next gen score the upset win? , but with so many possible outcomes who will leave with the plaudits and go on to challenge for the British Title next year?

Lumberjack Match

Si Valour vs. Heresy

A violent and personal feud that has lasted all year long finally comes to a head in what promises to be a violent Lumberjack Match. Ever since brutalising Valour and cutting off all his hair, Heresy has, in some form or other dodged the challenge of Valour. Heresy claimed not to have lost his bottle or be running scared of the 2007 Break Out Star, yet during their Bull Rope clash at GPW: "V" where the two were tied to one another, Heresy still managed to find a way of escaping and creating distance between him and Valour. This time, in a special Lumberjack Match, no matter where either man go - there will be no escape. All lumberjacks will be at the ready to ensure neither man can escape the others clutches and a clear winner, one way or the other will HAVE to be decided. There will be nowhere to run to and nowhere to hide, no matter where they look. Heresy has been one step ahead of Valour all year, is this where he runs out of excuses, or can the master manipulator manipulate another win?

CAMP ZAMA, Japan - Hundreds of Soldiers, Airmen, civilians and their families from the Camp Zama community kicked off Army Birthday Week with sports, games and tournaments designed to build camaraderie and esprit de corps throughout U.S. Army Japan Command. For five days dozens of units from the U.S. Army, U.S. Air Force and the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force will compete in various challenges to test their cumulative strength, speed, endurance and dexterity. From team sports, golf scrambles and swim relays to bowling tournaments, relay races and free throw competitions, the Army Birthday Week events offer a variety of team competitions and individual contests that maximize appeal across the entire sports spectrum.

The “Not in My Squad” challenge offered the most unique competition appearing in this week’s lineup. Nine representatives from Camp Zama’s Army and Air Force units endured a series of physically draining events spread along a three-mile route. The teams worked together to carry five-gallon cans of water to each event where they performed various exercises comprising hundreds of pushups, situps, pullups, tire flips and kettle bell curls. The challenge concluded with a role-play scenario that tested the teams’ cumulative knowledge about how to handle a sexual harassment incident.

A unit that wins first place in a specific event earns five points, while second and third place finishes earn three and two points respectively. Every unit that participates in an event earns one point.

As of June 15, 2016, U.S. Army Aviation Battalion maintains the lead with 35 points. The 441st Military Intelligence Battalion holds second place with 29 points and Medical Department Activity-Japan pulled into third place with 27 points. U.S. Army Japan (USARJ) remains in fourth place with 23 points. Since Monday USARJ has earned third place in the soccer tournament, second place in the "Not in My Squad" challenge, and first place in the swim relay.

On Friday, June 17, all teams will convene at the Camp Zama High School sports complex to compete to foot races and cheer on their comrades in the annual tug-of-war bout and soccer match between the JGSDF’s Central Readiness Force U.S. service members stationed Camp Zama.

German-American couple brings troops together for competition

By Rick Scavetta, U.S. Army Garrison Kaiserslautern

KUSEL, Germany – Raising her German Army patrol cap, Heidi Lehmann smiled as she watched her American husband join fellow U.S. Army Garrison Kaiserslautern Soldiers on the firing line.

Lehmann, 31, an oberfeldwebel – equivalent to a U.S. Army sergeant first class – recently spent two days translating for eight garrison Soldiers as they competed for the Schützenschnur, a coveted German Army’s weapons proficiency badge. She and her husband, Sgt. Esse Agnegue, a U.S. Army Garrison Kaiserslautern chaplain’s assistant, brought their units together for the training.

“It’s a nice experience for me to see my husband and the German Soldiers are happy to have the Americans here,” Lehmann said.

The couple met online when Agnegue, 31, was deployed to Iraq in 2007. He added her as a fan to his hip-hop music site. Later they realized their mutual love of motorcycles and travelling. They now have a one-year-old son.

Each morning, they put on camouflage fatigues of their respective armies and head off to separate bases – Lehmann to her transportation unit in Kusel and Agnegue to Pulaski Barracks in Kaiserslautern. Then they thought of a way to train together – though a shooting competition.

Garrison soldiers spent one day getting familiar with the German weapons using an indoor trainer.

The second day, they joined German troops on an outdoor range, firing a rifle, a pistol and a machine gun.

The Schützenschnur is awarded like the Olympics, in gold, silver and bronze. Of the seven garrison Soldiers who competed, three earned gold and four won bronze. U.S. Soldiers can wear the badge with their dress uniform.

American Soldiers in Baumholder recently held a seminar in English for German noncommissioned officers, said German 1st Lt. Sebastian Schmidt. That event, plus the marksmanship competition, forces German troops to exercise their language skills, Schmidt said, to prepare for NATO missions in Afghanistan.

“It’s an opportunity for our soldiers to practice English,” Schmidt said. “We have different experiences on missions and in training. We can fill a gap – where we can give our skills to the Americans get some skills from them.”

U.S. Soldiers often work with coalition counterparts – to include the German Army – while deployed overseas, said Capt. Tom Lukins, commander U.S. Army Garrison Kaiserslautern’s Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment.

“This event strengthens the bond we have and builds partnerships for future training,” Lukins said.

Originally from Togo, Agnegue said meeting people and travelling is one of the best benefits of serving in the military, especially when it means sharing ideas through events like the Schützenschnur competition.

“The Army gave me so many opportunities to do things and this is one of those opportunities,” Agnegue said. “We’re working together, building camaraderie and that’s a great thing.”

Jersey Rugby Football Club is a rugby club based in Jersey that competes at the RFU Championship. In the 2009–10 season JRFC won their play-off at Twickenham and also in the 2012–13 beat their greatest rivals Guernsey to win the Siam Cup for the fifth consecutive year. Jersey gained promotion by winning National League One and are now in RFU Championship.

The team was known as Jersey R.F.C. until the start of the 2016–17 season, when they changed their name to the Jersey Reds.

Rugby has been played in Jersey since 1879 with breaks for war and the Nazi occupation but the modern era started when the club acquired the land for a permanent home in Saint Peter near Jersey Airport in 1961; the original wooden clubhouse was built in 1964, its approximate location was in the middle of the Jersey Bowl carpark. From the early 1970s, when tourism in the island was at its peak, Jersey attracted many of rugby's top clubs who could combine a break from their regular fixtures with a game against the JRFC.

This period culminated with a very successful Centenary year in 1979, teams with international players came over to play and help celebrate this event – JPR Williams being one of the most famous! This decade left the club with an unequalled collection of plaques and memorabelia; teams coming from the UK, Ireland, South Africa, Australia (the beachguard connection) and the Netherlands.

Jersey vs. Barking at St. Peter, 5 November 2011.

The current clubhouse was opened in September 1994 and corresponded approximately with the start of the leagues; by then Jersey could not rely on random visiting sides and had to join the league in Hampshire.

In the summer of 2010 the new Lord Jersey Stand was built between the 1st XV pitch and the Airport Road and the Pavilion, with kitchen and bar, to the east of the main club facilities. This was to provide amenities for the increasing number of spectators due to the further success of the 1st XV.

The last few years have seen the first team work its way up the National Leagues, winning the overall National League 3 in 2010 and progressing to National League 2 South. Most recently in 2011, Jersey were promoted to National League 1 through a play-off game at home to Loughborough Students. The clubs kit is red with black shorts and socks and the away shirts are blue with black shorts and socks.

During their first season in National League 1 Jersey suffered a narrow defeat in their first game against Fylde and also lost their first home game in two and a half years against Ealing. They were also docked 5 points for fielding too many foreign players in their defeat to Cinderford. Despite these setbacks Jersey bounced back winning 11 games in a row and ended 2011 second in the National League 1 table, only 1 point behind Ealing. In their first game of 2012 they beat top of the table Ealing 24–16, making promotion a very real possibility. This run continued with wins against Rosslyn Park, Cinderford, Wharfedale and Stourbridge giving them 19 wins in a row but stuttered against Barking but since have won all their remaining games, most notably an away win against Coventry in which over 400 Jersey fans went to Coventry, to win promotion to the Championship.

In July 2012, it was reported that the States of Jersey Economic Development Department would sponsor the club for one year at a cost of £75,000.[

TC Henderson Wins 2016 Elementary Battle of the Books Competition

BREVARD, NC (March 15, 2016)—Teams from Brevard, Pisgah Forest, Rosman, and T.C. Henderson Elementary Schools gathered recently at the Transylvania County Library to compete for the countywide Elementary Battle of the Books championship trophy.

In a climactic, hard-fought round-robin tournament, T.C. Henderson rose to the top of the field, defeating their closest opponent by 7 points. Brevard and Pisgah Forest tied for second in this year’s competition.

Heather Finch, media specialist and team coach for T.C. Henderson, reported that it was not without sacrifice that students performed well in the Battle of the Books.

“Our team is made up of students who have given up their lunches or many days to work together here in the school library,” said Finch. “The online practice rounds with other schools significantly helped our energetic readers to test their skills and prepare for competition.”

She added, “We already know that we have the first question of the first round in the regional battle, which is very exciting!” To answer a question, all students listen to a fact-based reference from one of the 18 books. A designated student from the team taking its turn may consult with teammates, then must recite the complete title and author’s name for the correct book. Answering incorrectly opens up a question to the other team for a steal.

Team members spent many hours during the school year preparing for the competition. They individually read from the regulation list of 18 books, up from 8-12 books in recent years’ competition at the Transylvania County level. This expanded list was daunting, and while some read the minimum of six in order to compete, other students took the challenge in stride and read all 18!

While some participants had read two or three of this year’s books prior to the season, others navigated the entire list during the school year to reach peak form for the competition. From a roster of as many as 12 students, six compete at one time for each school. Selection for the competition team at each meet is made according to the number of books each student has read.

To get ready for the county competition, teams decided how to approach the books and then participated in mock competitions at their schools during lunch and after school. Sabrina Rhodes, 4th-grade teacher at Pisgah Forest Elementary, explained that her team’s first steps were to browse the books and explore which books the team planned to start with.

“Students created flashcards and spent time memorizing authors and titles,” Rhodes said. “Students kept logs of the books they had read, and every week each student would discuss their book, plot lines, characters, and so on. In addition, they created questions to quiz each other, then we pulled questions from internet as well.”

Because of the much-longer book list, students had to be very aware of time, and make sure they reviewed books from earlier in the year to stay fresh on each book’s plot. Since some stories had similar plot lines, students had to listen carefully to questions and discussion, and make notes of differences and similarities.

Rhodes felt that this showed real dedication to the books, and their team. “Many students took personal notes at home as they read so they could review as needed. It really challenged the students to persevere and pushed them academically to succeed.”

T.C. Henderson used online practice sessions during lunch periods to help their team train competitively against students statewide. The challenge of tackling 18 new books, and taking on other teams from next door as well as across the state, motivated their team and dozens of students throughout Transylvania County Schools.

Winning the county contest earned T.C. Henderson Elementary an invitation to compete against all the Region 8 winners at the central office of Buncombe County Schools in Asheville, on Friday, April 22, starting at 10:00 a.m.

T.C. Henderson students reported that on top of the thrill of the competition itself, they were excited about a planned side trip to Fuddrucker’s to make the trip complete. The excitement wasn’t limited to the champions, either. The Pisgah Forest team gathered for one last practice the week after the competition and saluted their accomplishments with pizza, donuts, and dancing.

Officiants for this year’s Transylvania County Elementary Battle included Audrey Reneau (moderator), Director of Curriculum and Title I; Sarah Justice (scorekeeper), school librarian, Rosman High School; Amy Galloway (timekeeper), school librarian, Brevard Middle School; and Stefanie Tomlin (judge), AIG Teacher , Brevard and Pisgah Forest Elementary Schools.

In 2010, the North Carolina School Library Media Association became the sponsor for the Elementary Battle of the Books program in our state. The purpose of the program is to encourage reading in elementary school.

Because the books are drawn from fiction for young readers, plot lines often draw on very similar or closely related elements. It can be tough to recall which book features a particular episode about sons and daughters, parents, dogs, thieves, long journeys, even bicycles and balloons. Such themes may often be found in more than one book.

When asked, T.C. Henderson students reported that they might have read more books if not for taking on the list of 18 from the competition; however, these challenging books also introduced them to new authors whose works they have come to love.

The book list, chosen by the NC School Library Media Battle of the Books Committee, offers students an opportunity to read a variety of genres on different levels by prominent authors in children’s literature.

Questions are developed by the State Elementary Battle of the Books committee and delivered to each district's facilitator one week prior to the competition. Questions are kept under lock and key until the competition.

Rosman Elementary school librarian and coach Peggy Bayne noted that her students have already begun reading the books for next year's competition.

“We had a wonderful experience at this year's Battle of the Books, and many of our students will be back next year to compete. We'd also like to thank Ericka Brock, Youth Services Librarian, for our tour of the library facilities,” said Bayne.

Many students on the teams this year expressed how much fun the competition was and how they have found some favorite new authors and series to read! The book list for elementary or middle school students interested in participating next year can be found at www.ncslma.org/ebob.
