Vladimir Egorovich Makovsky (1846 - 1920) is known as a genre painter, distinguished by his rare powers of observation and knowledge of the life of representatives of different classes and social strata, from high dignitaries to regulars of flea markets, taverns, and inhabitants of doss houses. His compositions are live scenes, noticed by the artist in reality. The ability to find the nerve in the relationship of the characters, to give the quintessence of the situation makes the paintings of Vladimir Makovsky especially memorable. These are ready-made theatrical mise en scenes, and the characters depicted in the paintings sometimes have grotesque expressiveness and, like talented actors, perfectly play their dramatic or comic roles. Their facial expressions are very expressive, poses are characteristic, gestures are convincing.
The artist often turned to a two-figure composition of a small format, which made it possible to focus on the relationships of the characters, who seem to be engaged in a lively dialogue in front of the viewer, who is watching the scene being played out with interest.
The work "In the Tavern" was written during the artist's maturity and is typical of Makovsky's work, both in terms of the chosen plot and its execution. The mise-en-scene is played out accurately and convincingly, the "scenery" is organic to the chosen plot. Types and characters are shown so expressively that it seems that we know these people, met them in real life. A bold brushstroke, a rich pictorial texture give the scene even more liveliness and character.
In 1887, the painting was shown at the XV Itineart Exhibition and was named "among the best decorations" of this exposition.

Работа "В трактире" написана в период зрелости художника и является типичной для творчества Маковского, как по выбранному сюжету, так и его исполнению. I found this snail lying in the middle of the street, about to be stepped on. I picked it up and later used it in this photo, placing it on a life-sized doll in a side-view composition as it moved across her lips. It was shy for the first hour or so, barely reacting—but eventually, it behaved like a real model. After the shoot, I released it into a nearby park. Often a symbol of solitude, patience, and inner reflection, the snail reinforces the recurring theme of isolation and indulgence throughout my work.

В конце прошлого года Коллекцiонеръ Клуб совместно с Галерейным центром "Артефакт" представил в Москве на Пречистенке выставку работ известного русского художника, академика Императорской Академии художеств Владимира Маковского. Эта небольшая, но очень содержательная экспозиция включила живописные и графические работы художника исключительно из частных собраний.
Перед зрителями предстали подлинные шедевры отечественной жанровой живописи, многие из которых оказались впервые доступны для публичного просмотра.
Для знатоков русской жанровой живописи сенсацией стала возможность впервые за 130 лет увидеть вместе парные картины "В трактире" и "В харчевне" после их триумфа на XV Передвижной выставке 1887 года. Многие картины зрители увидели впервые с тех пор как их созерцали наши соотечественники на выставках Москвы и Санкт-Петербурга в конце XIX века.
В 1873 году за картину "Любители соловьев" Маковский был произведён Академией художеств в академики. Картина была выставлена на Всемирной выставке в Вене, где привлекла всеобщее внимание. Фёдор Достоевский писал о ней: "…если нам есть чем-нибудь погордиться, что-нибудь показать, то уж, конечно, из нашего жанра… в этих маленьких картинках, по-моему, есть даже любовь к человечеству, не только к русскому в особенности, но даже и вообще". Посетителям выставки будет продемонстрирован первоначальный вариант этой работы 1872 г.
Владимир Егорович Маковский вступил на художественное поприще, когда русская жанровая живопись прошла уже значительный путь своего развития, когда в ней сложились свои традиции, связанные прежде всего с такими крупными именами, как Павел Федотов и Василий Перов. Творчество каждого из названных художников знаменует собой целый этап в истории русского искусства, обусловленный особенностями развития общественной жизни России 40-х и 60-х годов XIX столетия.
Владимир Маковский проявил себя как зрелый мастер в следующий период - в 70-80-е годы, когда перед русской живописью возникли новые задачи. Художники постепенно отходят от острой социальной сатиры, от прямолинейного обличения действительности. Перед ними встала необходимость внимательно присмотреться к окружающим людям, их интересам, вникнуть в их психологию, понять и почувствовать чем живет и дышит простой рядовой человек. Маковский расширил круг наблюдений своих предшественников. Объектами его творчества стали не только быт крестьянства, будни интеллигенции, революционно-освободительная борьба в России, но все же городские сцены его родной Москвы привлекали художника прежде всего.
На картинах Маковского широко показана жизнь города, его характерные типы. Перед посетителями выставки проходят чиновники, дворяне, городской трудовой люд, представители разных сословий и состояний, начиная от сановных людей, дельцов и коммерсантов нового времени и кончая завсегдатаями толкучек и трактиров. Изображая жизнь города, Маковский брал ее в уличной повседневности, показывая обыденную жизнь маленького человека с его окружением, их встречами и диалогами. Он умел поместить своих героев в характерную для них бытовую обстановку и делал это с большим мастерством. Талант художника особенно ярко проявился в так называемых "маленьких жанрах". В них Маковскому достаточно было одной-двух фигур, чтобы дать живое представление об эпохе, о характере персонажей, об их социальной принадлежности.
Коллекцiонеръ Клуб, выступая в роли просветительского центра, считает особенно значимым и важным через призму изобразительного ряда произведений Владимира Егоровича Маковского из частных собраний, продемонстрировать историю развития русской жанровой живописи. А также расширить знания о творчестве художника, благодаря которому образы наших соотечественников ушедшего времени сохраняют для нас очарование своей живой непосредственности.

It was the hand of God that joined a Serbian woman and a Russian man, who had come to Serbia as boy, with his parents, after the October Revolution in Russia.
So, on April 19th 1939. in Uzice, they got their son Djordje - Djordje Prudnikov
In 1946. the family moved to Belgrade. After completing his grammar school, Djordje was admitted to the Academy of Fine Arts. Few months later he left it to enroll at the Academy of Applied Arts where he graduated in the class of Professor Mihailo Petrov.
During his studies Prudnikoff was rewarded several times for graphic design.
Graphic (industrial) design was his preoccupation while staying in Wienna, in 1967.
Before leaving for Vienna, after visiting an industrial design exhibition that inspired him, he started to do industrial design himself. It was design of completely new shapes of glasses. In Vienna, he had contacts with Rosenthal, Gralglass and other companies that belonged to Euro "Group 21". They were not only full of compliments for the artist but offered him a cooperation. After 5 months spent in Vienna, he returned to Belgrade for a summer holiday. Nostalgic feelings overwhelmed him and he remained at home.
That was most likely the reason why some of his ideas were used while he was away, and without his approval. One of his ideas even won the ''Oscar'' for design in 1969. in Germany.
At the International competition for new ideas in furniture design, in 1968 in Italy, he was granted a reward and 3 months scholarship by the company called Sormani from Milan for perfecting himself in furniture design.
During and after his studies he was mostly occupied with creations in the field of applied arts and took part in projects for furniture and applied pottery for several well-known Italian enterprises. His work were selected for the ITALIAN DESIGN exhibitions in many European metropolises, and that was the time when Italian design was considered one of the best in the world.
While staying in Italy, he established a good cooperation with Gabbianelli (and some others), and achieved his greatest success.
Prudnikoff met many interesting people in Italy, the most impressive contact being with Mr.Dino Gavina, one of the pioneers of industrial design who said that "he had waited for such an Artist" There were remarkable proposals to work in Bologna but, unfortunately, the two distinct personalities had conflicts from the very beginning.
That was unfortunate, of course. As he stayed in Belgrade longer than he planned, he failed to take his chance to realise his project ''Habitata'', already accepted at the Milano Trienale in 1975, for a well known enterprise ''Zanotta'' /transparent armchair, armchair in a shape of the sack /
In 1976. he had left Italy, and only 18 years later learned abut the reason why Italian authorities had not granted him extended work permit. There was a bad guy who lived in Milan at the same time, and possessed a passport in the name of Prudnikoff. That man loved his painting but had no idea how he affected his life.
Prudnikoff's idea was borrowed in Italy as well, and an ''armchair - FIELD'' won the 1st prize at an international contest, but it was not registered under his name .
In Belgrade, Prudnikoff became famous not only as an artist, but for his whole-page advertisements announced in daily newspapers. These advertisements symbolized his reactions to certain occurrences, whether he approved of them or not. At first, this way of communication with the community represented his discontent with the contemporary art critique that did not accept him, and that, apart from few exceptions, did not win his confidence.
Prudnikoff took part in numerous collective and independent exhibitions both in the country and abroad.

В первые годы пребывания Алексея Исупова в Италии ''Весенний пейзаж'' становится визитной карточкой его русского репертуара.
Итальянский период жизни художника был наполнен интенсивными размышлениями и проходил в новом свете. Мастер становится внимательным и скрупулезным наблюдателем реальности, доверяя памяти впечатления, обогащающие его опыт. Его работы наполняются чистой и яркой истиной видимой формы, которая становится сокровенной реальностью. Несмотря на эту новую волну свежести в своей живописи, Исупов не теряет связи с мастерами своей родины.
Мастер тонкого цветового колорита - от пурпурных и синих тонов Врубеля до розовых тонов кожи, белизны снегов и зелени лугов Серова - он проникается всё более импрессионистским видением, которое он мудро и оригинально разрешает посредством прямого и постоянного наблюдения за реальностью.
В ''Весеннем пейзаже'' мы видим руку художника, владеющего уверенной техникой и отличающегося особой живописной чуткостью. Использование рисунка и цвета гарантирует ему ту уверенность действия и силу, из которой не исключена никакая возможность выражения. Его живопись сохраняет глубокое, интимное и реальное содержание, не позволяя мастерству втянуть себя в визуальный обман. Художник - зеркало природы и жизни: он визуализирует и анализирует, возвращая нам формы, полные чувства, изящества и красоты, память о которых он сохраняет.
Нежная зелень первых листьев говорит о наступлении весны. Быстрые и яркие мазки светлых тонов подчёркивают луговые просторы, в то время как свет и тени определяют плоскости и рисуют формы. Над сельской местностью нависает серое небо, полное облаков, пронизанное проблеском ярко-синего цвета, в то время как пастушок своей мелодией возвещает о пробуждении природы.
