A collaborative effort with my wife. She half started a watercolor painting and I filled in two areas using photoshop. Those two area are the brick wall to the left of the red door, and looking inside the window at the restaurant.

Fifty or more avocets lined up shoulder to shoulder (wing to wing) at Raymond Pool in Bombay Hook NWR. They then moved forward together feeding chasing prey until they reached the shore. They then moved back and repeated the behavior.
This is the first time I have seen this group behavior

In partnership with my friend and landscape photographer Slawek Staszczuk www.photoss.net/iceland.html, I’m organizing a week long photographic tour of Iceland in June 2016. I have already led several of these tours and I’m excited to be collaborating with Slawek for this year’s tour. It will be a small group, maximum 4 guests, in an RV. No luxuries, we’ll be moving all over the country focusing on the photography, 24/7. The tuition will include image editing for anyone interested. A reasonable level of fitness is necessary as there is some hiking involved. If you’d like a chance for 1:1 training in a stunning landscape, don’t miss out on this opportunity. Upon entering the city of Buellton via Avenue of the Flags, one cannot help but notice three pyramidal structures, magenta, yellow and cyan, which do not seem to serve any purpose, so they must be art. They were commissioned by the Museum of Contemporary Art, Santa Barbara and are on display in this location through the fall.

LIGHT BLOOM by HYBYCOZO is a limited-time exhibit where nature and light converge. This mesmerizing display invites you to explore the Garden transformed by stunning geometric light installations that illuminate the beauty of the desert landscape in a new way. As the sun sets, LIGHT BLOOM comes to life, casting intricate shadows and vibrant hues across the Garden. Wander the trails and let the enchanting installations transport you to a magical realm where the natural world meets the abstract.
HYBYCOZO is the collaborative studio of artists Serge Beaulieu and Yelena Filipchuk. Based in Los Angeles, their work consists of larger than life geometric sculptures, often with pattern and texture that draw on inspirations from mathematics, science, and natural phenomena. Typically illuminated, the work celebrates the inherent beauty of form and pattern and represents their ongoing journey in exploring the myriad dimensions of geometry. HYBYCOZO is short for the Hyperspace Bypass Construction Zone, a nod to their favorite novel (The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy) and was the title of their first installation in 2014. They continue to create under this name. In the novel earth was being destroyed to make way for a bypass. It lead Serge and Yelena to ask what it means to make art at a time where the earth’s hospitable time in the universe may be limited.

Q: Walk us through your creative process?
A: The focus of our creative process is to explore the intricate interplay between geometry, light, space and to inspire contemplation, wonder and a sense of place among our audiences. Geometry and pattern-making serve as the backbone of our creative expression. It is the framework through which we navigate the complexities of form, proportion and spatial relationships. Patterns, both simple and complex, have a profound impact on our perception and understanding of the world. They possess the ability to evoke a sense of order, balance and aesthetic pleasure. Pattern making and geometry offer us a means of storytelling and communication. These patterns serve as conduits for deeper exploration, provoking introspection and contemplation to uncover the underlying symbols embedded within the human psyche.
Q: What inspired the concept of LIGHT BLOOM?
A: Just as many cactus and desert plants have evolved to produce night-blooming flowers, adapting to their environment and thriving in darkness, our sculptures come alive after sunset, blossoming with light and transforming the night into a glowing landscape of art and geometry.
Desert Botanical Garden has an incredible collection of plants and cacti arranged in a beautiful park setting.

I love the new PX 100 film!
In 2012, artists Patrick Thompson and Alexa Hatanaka designed this 7.32-metre-long art installation on a fence adjacent to Amos Waites Park. This mural visually interprets the waters of Lake Ontario in the neighbourhood as a continuous wave in a playful and whimsical way, bringing the lake to the street.
The joy of receiving not one but two rolls of film from the lab is about as good as it gets. The hard part is resisting to dump them all onto Flickr. I will be creating a few new sets, including one based around the idea of the "New Topographics" exhibition from 1975. My interpretation will have a heavier emphasis on nature, with man-made structures serving more as accents. Still need to hash the idea out fully, and think of a title.

Data captured by Mary and Mark McIntyre, captured collaboratively using 4 different Canon 1100D cameras.
Widefield shots taken with an 18-55mm lens with solar filter attached until totality, then filter was removed until after the 2nd diamond ring appeared then the filter was fitted again. Collage is a stack of 40 individual images.
For totality we used our own Canon 1100D with zoom lenses to capture the corona and processed our own data separately. This was taken with a 300mm zoom lens on a Canon 1100D, hand-held.
Timelapse video was created using a Canon 1100D on Star Adventurer Mount, tracking at solar speed. Filter was removed during totality. Mark McIntyre processed the raw data then timelapse created by Mary McIntyre
