This is the fourth casino built on the same site since 1891. The design was created by Amsterdam architectural firm ZJA, in collaboration with OZ Architect for hotel and casino, DELVA landscape architects and Bureau Bouwtechniek, as members of the Nautilus Consortium, which also includes project developer Debuild and contractors Furnibo from Veurne and Democo from Hasselt.
We had such a beautiful snowfall overnight that, for some odd reason, it made me think of Schubert's Winterreise Lieder Song Cycle. And then I felt like doing this in a Georgia O'Keeffe style. What a combination for the second day of what we're calling a New Year. I wonder what Schubert and O'Keeffe think of my pairing?!
Here's one of my favourites in the cycle sung by one of my favourite tenors, whom I've now obviously drawn into the collaboration! My mother accompanied my father for many of the Winterreise - what a duo they were musically!

Chapter III: The Saboteur's Plan

When Richard materialized in the bustling streets of New York in the year 2025, he immediately felt a disturbance in the temporal fabric. People were passing by in a hurry, unaware of the imminent danger lurking in the shadows. Following the coordinates provided by the Ministry, Richard and his companion headed towards the vicinity of a nuclear plant. As they approached, they saw a suspicious figure hunched over a device of peculiar appearance typing rapidly on it. With stealth and precision, Richard approached the saboteur, while his pulse throbbed with electric intensity. Suddenly, footsteps were heard resonating beside him, and Agent Pablo Torres emerged from the shadows, his weapon drawn and ready.
"We have you now," proclaimed Pablo with firm and authoritative voice.
The saboteur leaped and started running as Richard and Pablo chased after him. At a certain point, he abruptly stopped and with a cold smile on his face, rummaged in a pocket and pulled out a small device that he activated with a click. With a dazzling flash of light, a temporal distortion opened before him. Before Richard or Pablo could react, the saboteur disappeared into the temporal vortex, leaving the agents astonished and without clues to follow his trail.
Back at the Ministry, Richard and Pablo faced the harsh reality of their failure. The saboteur had escaped, leaving behind more questions than answers. As they discussed what had happened, Richard noticed that Pablo was out of breath, with a hand on his chest.
"Are you okay, Pablo?" asked Richard, concerned.
Pablo nodded with a weak smile. "I don't think I'll be able to join you in the next pursuit," he admitted.
Richard furrowed his brow, visibly worried about his friend's health. Later, after leaving Pablo in the infirmary, Richard reflected with amazement: "It's the first time we've seen interdimensional portals open wherever one desires. This complicates things a lot."
With time running out, they knew they had to redouble their efforts to stop the saboteur's sinister plans and protect the timeline at all costs.

Our first joint artistic adventure...very exciting! Of course I have a bias, but he has some phenomenal talents...among them, photography. Saying that I'm proud of him is a tremendous understatement.
I'm glad to present you the newest project by Zbudujmy.to LUG, the Viking Village!
8 members and friends of our community teamed up for a huge early medieval display in the far north, where the Vikings rule unquestionably!
The whole collab stands on 7x8 standard 32x32 baseplates. We want to expand this project next year, as more builders enter with their parts. This is definitely a long-term project. ;)
Big thanks to JaskiertheBard, because he was the one to start the project and he has built a huge chunk of its baseplates, including basically everything on the left side. I've only built a tiny 2x2 slice with the pathway uptop the cliff. :P
Please excuse my terrible editing skills, but I guess it looks fine for a photo that was primarily taken on a convention last week with a light striking into the camera lens. It was tough, but I guess it looks quite nice. :)

Walter Schrempf's blueprint of the building was the winner of an architecture competition in the year 1963. Then, he invited Otto Herbert Hajek to reshape his draft artificially to overcome the comtemporary paradigmatic sobriety of the 1960's. The realisation of the building started in 1966, after Hajek had presented his version to the commission of the university.
The result of the architect’s and sculptor’s collaboration is a functional modern architecture, which opens up to the technical age and uses new materials, and is also a space sculpture at the same time. Naked concrete contrasts with a vivid coloration through yellow, red and blue surfaces. Geometric elements, which are arranged like a box, determine the spatial effect. The interior is divided by plastic concrete elements in various large levels and units.
The building has been built as a "Student House" in which all services for the students are included: dining hall, administration for the students services like financial support, recreational facility, theatre hall, café, event room. All these functions are still existing today.
The building is a historical monument.
