"Fresh-out-of-the-box" CSX CM44AC rebuild 7029 notches up through the plants at East Willard and RX with a short train of empty coke hoppers for Pittsburgh on Nov. 6, 2022. Originally built as CSX CW44AC 18, it was outshopped within the last couple weeks based on its clean appearance.
WIDE VIEW: Brand new CSX CW44AC-240 is playing "one unit wonder" on E/B coal train U-882 heading to the Consol Coal facility at Newgate Street. Its on Conrail's President Street Track. CSX's Sparrows Point Industrial Track is overhead in the distance. 240 has recently been re-built and is now classified as a CM44AC and re-numbered to 7218.
Q010 is seen pulling south thru the bathtub in North Bergen along Conrail’s Northern Branch to make a set out at North Bergen.

Under the cover of night, the sound of a K5 echoes throughout the city of Logan as Elk Creek Shifter R251 passes the former C&O depot.
X037-10 winds its way south into Colbert, GA on CSX's Abbeville Subdivision. This train was rerouted from the A-Line due to a vehicle-caused derailment near Florence, SC. Seeing intermodal on this line used to be a daily occurrence, but PSR ended that practice.
After sitting at CP-7 for a little bit for traffic below to clear up, Q01011 is seen crossing Overpeck Creek.

After meeting X652-22, a pair of DP’s shove C406-20 through the turnout at S.E. Miller Yard and into Townes Tunnel as the morning sun starts to reach into the hollers of Scott County Virginia.

Shelby Shifter power idles in track 6 as morning fog from the Levisa Fork River looms over the west end of Shelby Yard. The R240 is sitting over on track 7 with a cut of storage empties pulled from Esco the week prior, re-entering service.

If I thought that T738 I shot just few days earlier was enough to start seeing Mr. Towelie at Coachella with Snoop Dogg about to perform, this one would turn Mr. Towelie into a real boy. Q583 with the fresh set of rebuilt AC44's, 7255 & 7256 up front with the 7260 mid train, lead their first train as it heads south for Atlanta on the north side of Marietta. 10-13-21
October 13, 2021: A pair of rebuilt CM44AC engines sporting fresh YN3 paint lead CSX manifest-freight train Q583 (Nashville, TN-Rocky Mount, NC) out of Junta Yard at Cartersville, GA heading South on the CSX W&A Subdivision.
While making the trip to Cincinnati, the Nickel Plate heritage unit passes the second to last B&O CPL on the Toledo Sub in Tipp City.

CSX mixed freight M520 rolls through Ocean Springs, MS on a late summer evening along the Mississippi Gulf Coast. The northbound is led by a matching pair of YN2 AC44s, a sight that has become increasingly rare since the beginning of CSX’s CM44AC rebuild program. This New Orleans to Nashville mixed freight was one of several trains along the NO&M Subdivision on a busy night following Hurricane Francine.
CSX M531 departing Radnor Yard, passing the iconic old Nashville Sounds scoreboard, now just a sign. A fresh CM44AC, 7325, was leading this train, looking nice, it is the former CSX 339.

A recently rebuilt pair of CSX locomotives race southward through Cairo, splitting the CPL signals guarding the control point.

It is led by GE AC44CW 205 which was built in 1996. It has since been rebuiult into CSXT CM44AC 7225. In this photograph, the train is blocking Rosewood Drive at the ire of drivers who are waiting for it to cross. CSX has to cross Norfolk Southern at grade which means stopping to get permission and then the conductor must manually open a gate at the crossing.
One couldn’t ask for a more beautiful afternoon in coal country as L201-26 descends the 1.8% Sandy Ridge grade through Dante, Va with a block of Eastman traffic.
CSX CM44AC 7232 is heading southbound on the Toledo Sub as it passes former B&O CPL signals in Deshler, OH.
Just weeks before being removed from service, the unique pair of US&S P-5 intermediates at Hill Station guide M653-03 south toward Kingsport, skirting along the Clinch River for the next several miles. The “Bluffs” are protected by US&S slide fences first installed in early 1958 like the one pictured here.
It's a brilliant fall morning as CSX mine run R615 shoves the first cut of TVAX empties up the Merna Branch to the JRL Coal Creech loadout. The relatively fresh CM44AC was a welcome catch!
NYSW's freshly painted SD70M-2 #4064 is seen basking in the spring sunlight at the NYSW Engine Facility in Ridgefield Park after leading the SU-100 for the first time east since being put into company colors. Over on the River Sub, I00820's power is seen waiting for the signal to head south to North Bergen.

A very clean GE CM44AC rebuild leads a tanker train that is labeled Sherwin Williams paint. Eastbound at Red Rock
Ethanol loads for the WSSB at Wadesboro, NC meander northward along the roller coaster section of track at Howie siding just north of Comer, GA on the Abbeville Sub.
As a typical Georgia summertime thunderstorm brews in the background M649-30 stops on the main to work the Nutrien plant. Two, right off the showroom floor freshly rebuilt CM44AC's, provide the power.
CSX’s Spirit of Law Enforcement unit is seen leading the Port Newark section of Q01011 west along Conrails P&H Line at Avenue I in Newark. Due to track work on the National Docks, the P&H was utilized instead on this morning.

CSX's 11am Hazard mine run crew, R233, brings a loaded train of company 3-bays off the Leatherwood Branch and into Dent Yard. I presume this train was going to a steel mill up north, but I cannot confirm.
Framed by the classic C&O hardware at E.E. Paintsville, aging CSXT 16 leads E910-24 down the Big Sandy Subdivision headed for Martin with 97 bottom dumps for Blue Diamond Mining’s Leatherwood # 1 complex.
Sadly the 16 is slated for rebuilding into a CM44AC in the coming year.
A clean CM44AC overhaul and two other GE products drop down Milan Hill and by the single CPL mast at Cochran Junction.
CSX multilevel train X203-13 heads south past the restored depot in Adairsville, GA with CM44AC 7030 leading. Another CM44AC, 7036, is the mid-train DPU.
Fresh CM44AC rebuild CSX 7245 leads Bone Valley local O730 (Winston, FL to New Wales, FL turn) toward their destination of New Wales with molten sulfur loads and empty phosphate hoppers from Q603.
