Macro Mondays: Cloth

This is a true pointe shoe that has been costumized and tranformed into a pencil case. I am not sure of the exact dimensions since I didn't have a ruler in the shop, so I trimmed the picture on the side.

Taken for Macro Mondays Group. Topic as above.

Macro Mondays Cloth

A scarf and jumper.

Thanks for stopping HMM

This coming Monday's Macro theme is cloth ... so I started thinking about some interesting ways to capture some cloths. I settled on getting the macro of the cloth in some sewing action.

This of course meant I would have to engage Mrs. Krach. First off this required me to enter her sewing room which meant I needed to get a 'Permit" to enter the space.

Do not want to mention the Red Tape needed to actually touch the new sewing machine ...

I then searched through some of the fabrics laying about, and this one with the blue cloth and sequins I imagined would make for some nice reflections and bokeh.

Given all the preparatory permits and permissions needed to set this up, I took a bunch of close in compositions at various apertures to play with depth of field. So will posting some variations to see which folks like the most before submitting the final one to the Macro Monday group coming up.

This capture here was taken with the tight composition at true 1:1 focal length, and at f/8 to get some bokeh patterns in the cloth.

Macro Mondays: Cloth theme

Kuba cloth is a woven textile made from raffia palms. These textiles are created by the Kuba people of The Democratic Republic of the Congo (Zaire). They feature complicated abstract geometric patterns that some believe may be related to music and mathematics.

An ancient, huge Lenten cloth adorns the Freiburg Minster again: the 10 meter by 12 meter cloth has always covered the high altar during Lent for 400 years.

It was created by the French painter Francois Arparel in 1611-1612. According to the Archdiocese, it is the largest surviving piece of this type in Europe. Since the Middle Ages there has been a tradition of Lenten cloths, which cover the magnificent altar structures with the depiction of the risen Christ during Lent and should instead show the church people the story of Christ's passion.

I love the textures, colours and warmth of my scarf as it adds something special to many shirts I wear in Winter. HMM!!

Something simple and straightforward for a change ;-) Though I have a "what am I looking at?" version for the theme, too, which, again, I will probably upload later. This time I did not get that close,

because I wanted to have the "Organic" lettering in full, which is 6 cm (2,3622 inches) high. The width here is exactly 7 cm / 3 inches. It's a cotton tote bag, made from "organic cotton" (hopefully), by Swedish designer Gudrun Sjödén.

Thank you for your kind comments, I appreciate every single one, and your faves! Vielen Dank für Eure tollen Kommentare und Faves!

A Happy Macro Mondy, Everyone!
