Mt Schank, an extinct volcano surrounded by fertile grazing land and large quarry, is about 15 km from the town of Mt Gambier, South Australia. A few hay stacks and herds of cattle are grazing happily down below.
This bird has done the sliding a few times. It struts its wings for balance when needed. Here I like the innocent look on its face...

Nothing is happening save for a gentle breeze and a couple of helicopters in the overcast sky. A small pit of sand is exposed due to the very low tide - and ripples are formed around it.The St kilda Lighthouse is in the distant left.

This was taken next to Yarra River, the muddy water is in the background. In the morning, damselflies are active - busily courting and flying about.
Two alert mongooses emerge from their burrow, their keen eyes scanning the arid landscape. Their expressions hold a mix of curiosity and caution, perfectly adapted to the challenges of the desert. With the golden sunlight highlighting their fur, these small yet resilient creatures embody survival and adaptability in one of natureās harshest environments.
This is another "re-mix" of a shot taken in 2009.
It was a foggy morning, the relatively slow shutter speed attributes to the motion blur, but I like the overall impressionistic effects, though.

Took the early morning oppurtunity to do serious photographing around Hakone area as my wife, daughter and friends went for a dip at nearby hot spring. Does not fancy the dip and out I go searching for something to work on.
Started with a work at nearby river. A famous one as its near the Yumoto, Hakone Tozan Railway Station.

This is part of the reservoir at Latrobe Golf Club, a short Par 3 course called the Island Course surrounds it. It was taken on an early autumn morning; the sky was blanketed by interesting altocumulus clouds.

Went out this morning to my favorite spot. Saw a pair of King Fishers there last time. They were there again! It was great. I got to watch them fish for about 45 minutes. Several flying shots, hovering shots and diving shots. This was one of my favorites. I'll post more in the following days. My favorite bird... So much fun to watch, very smart and agile.

Every now and then I see a flock of doves hovering in a distance. This time this flock appears to be larger than usual. When they turn to a certain angle, their white underwings reflect more sunlight - shimmering in the distance like fireworks in a pantomine...
I have joined a group called "I Have To Shoot What" and the weekly theme was "close to nature". I think this fits the theme quite well.
