All chance, direction, which thou canst see;

All discord, harmony not understood;

All partial evil, universal good."

Das Rad der Zeit ; The wheel of time

Castlerigg is perhaps the most atmospheric and dramatically sited of all British stone circles, with panoramic views and the mountains of Helvellyn and High Seat as a backdrop. It's also among the earliest British circles, raised in about 3000 BC during the Neolithic period.

Margaret and I found this to be a most rewarding visit - with wonderful light - we stayed in the centre of Keswick, so it was within fairly easy walking distance. Had to wait for the 'stone huggers' to clear off before taking this !! A lot of people like to visit here and soak up the atmosphere, not surprisingly.

Textures: My own, and one from PicMonkey.

Castlerigg Stone Circle with Blencathra beyond.

The Stone Circle is located near Keswick in the Lake District, Cumbria.

It is believed to have been constructed around 3200 BC, and although its original purpose remains largely unknown, possible uses include a trading post, meeting place, a religious site or an astronomical observatory.

A miniature! If you’re like me, you’ll need to put on your glasses to appreciate this!

I took it with a 75-300mm lens from some distance away. These friends are gathered under the warning sign at the end of the jetty at Bearskin Neck, Rockport Massachusetts.

I couldn’t really see what they were doing, but it looked like they were having fun!

Fell in love with this small grove of second growth Redwoods in Henry Cowell State Park

The stone circle of Stoke Flat on Froggatt Edge. Made of small stones typical of circles found in the Peak District.

These chandeliers are quite spectacular. Take time to notice them the next time you pass through what used to be the very grand waiting room at Grand Central.

Another autumn leaf which is waiting to fall. Hope you like it!

Thank you to everyone who pauses long enough to look at my photo. All comments and Faves are very much appreciated

Gah - really stressful afternoon - glad to be home at last.

More slinky fun - this time with the Lumix. The flash created some interesting shadows.

I experimented with freezing the flowers in different containers before adding them into the larger container for freezing. I can imagine this being an easier way to create compositions with structure and interest. Again color management is my biggest challenge when editing.

'Circles'

I thought that this may be a suitable object for this weeks Macro Mondays theme - 'Circles'.

My husband tells me that it is a fluorescent light starter.

Created for Macro Mondays # Circles

It doesn't mean anything but it speaks to me.

This hall at Accademia Gallery was especially built for Michelangelo's famous statue of David. The statue was situated outdoors on the Piazza della Signoria for about 300 years. To protect it from further damage it was removed from the square in 1873 and was placed under this impressive cupola.
