Not only children, but also people up to old age love it when these locomotives pass by, puffing and steaming, bursting with energy. Smells and sounds accompany this spectacle. Of course, also to the chagrin of nature. And yet the effect of these machines on people will never cease. They are inventions from another era, vehicles that still have a face.
“There were some things that only time could cure. Evil men could be destroyed, but nothing could be done with good men who were deluded.”
― Arthur C. Clarke, Childhood's End
“-If I somehow possessed a set of videotapes that contained all the most significant events of your childhood, in their entirety, would you want to see them?
-Absolutely. Right this very second.
-But why? Don't you think some of the tapes would be very sad?
-Most of them, yes. But if I could see them, then I could have them in my brain like regular memories-horrible memories, yes, but regular memories, not sinister little ghosts in my head that pop out of some part of me I don't even know, and take the rest of me away. Do you know what I mean?
-I think so, If you have to remember, you'd rather do it in the front of your brain than in the back.”
― Martha Stout, The Myth of Sanity: Divided Consciousness and the Promise of Awareness

This figures are over 40 years old, I have them since I was a little child and I loved to play with them for hours, untypical for a girl :-)
For Macro Mondays - childhood toys
Like a book, this toy, when I look at it or hold it in my hands, takes me back to earlier chapters of life. Have a great day!
There are places that we know from his childhood. They have not changed much. They have just become older.

...this childhood keepsake was given to me by my wonderful sister, Anita. As children we sat together on Saturday mornings to watch our favorite cartoons. Felix the Cat was enjoyed by us both...she gifted me this treasured item over twenty-five years ago. I miss her dearly and that great sounding laughter of hers, but often look at my desktop and, to this day, can remember and hear the sound of her voice...
One of my not so great childhood memories was learning the times tables! For some reason, known only to my brain lol, maths was really difficult for me. English I loved, could read before I went to school but maths would not stay in my head!! Another long lasting memory (showing my age now) is the school milk. Always in a glass bottle and dubiously warm in the summer!!
Thanks for viewing 😀
