whenever there is a storm, trees are broken, destroyed, no matter how big they are, they cannot resist the force of the wind. Even the strongest trees are like a toy for strong winds. The bamboo isn't. Bamboo bends, it flexes, nearly touches the floor, but never breaks. It resists the storms, the strongest winds. Yet, it keeps its delicate structure.

Like the bamboo is a good man's character. A man can undergo hard, difficult, tough times, for which he must adapt, but must never break, never lose his sense of self. A man must keep his essence now matter how bad the world is treating him.

One from a few years ago which I've never posted.

This photo is part of the final assignment "Character Portrait" in my "Lighting Techniques" photography course. The portrait should reflect a lot of "character". I chose keylight on the left and fill light on the front. The hair is also slightly lightened at the back on the left. The depth of field is very limited, with some blur already present at the back of the hair.

What do you think of this photo?

Thanks in advance for your help, and greetings from Belgium, Stefan

Kanji (at least I think it is kanji) characters carved on the torii path at the Fushimi Inari-taisha shrine, Kyoto.

I believe the characters spell out the names of individuals and business that donated the torii gates to the shrine.

In the life of flowers, perfection and symmetry are their forte, but aging gracefully shows their true character and heart. How they dance as they curl, dry, withdraw. Even quite dead and dried, they are fascinating to me. These two are still on the plant.

The inhospitable character of Antarctica became more apparent as we moved south along the Antarctic Peninsula and this is summertime. I gained much respect for the early explorers and adventurers who came to this place.

A random character I sketched

A shot of 'The Joker' and 'Batman' on the Las Vegas Strip.

Wearing costumes, various impersonators from movies were everywhere in the area.

I would like to say thank you to Low_ProFiL9 for teaching me about the smudge tool in photoshop. Thanks! (Yes, folks, I'm constantly learning).

I have given this character to my good friend, JAR64. He has now every right to use and edit him however he wishes to.

Enjoy!

Well... she wasn't supposed to look so young, she will appear "older" depending on your enb and lighting conditions. I am so bad at creating mature characters :(

Since I haven't been able to give her a custom voice despite all the times I tried, I have decided to give her her own little home where she can be found!

Meet Calpernia, she may not be cute, beautiful and attractive, but the scars all over her body tell the story of her sad past.

I was tired to create too perfect characters and see everywhere female characters that look like plastic dolls... not everyone is perfect! Calpernia is not, luckily :P Tired of Barbies!

Yes I know, I have to fix the neckseam :(

this was a very quick edit, but i have been spending some time updating all my avatars for my roleplay characters. lelutka 3.1 made most of my shapes unusable and so it was back to shaping! the finished products made the task so worth it ♥

Nowadays, masks are related to Carnival time but in the past they were used in theaters to represent characters in theatrical performances.

Those in the picture are Venetian handcrafted masks, made of papier-maché, reminders of the ancient Greek symbols of Tragedy and Comedy

Happy Smile on Saturday

This old barn in the Clinton Hills near New London on PEI, is, I think, one of the island’s more picturesque. Unfortunately, one of the things that makes it so attractive, it's location on the edge of a hill that falls away on two sides, makes it difficult to photograph. The highway that runs past is narrow and generally quite busy. There is only a small verge to the road and people tend to fly through here at a good clip. Stopping for a photo is generally not recommended. However, on the day I took this, a constant winter rain seemed to have cleared the traffic and slowed the few cars that remained to a reasonable speed. I was able to pull over for just a minute or two in order to get a photo. One day, I will have to park somewhere at the bottom of the hill and walk up in order to get the best possible vantage point. I think the old wood looks better when it's dry. Also, moving a little further down the hill might allow one to also capture a better sense of the landscape with the river that runs below and to the left. Nevertheless, I was pleased to finally get an opportunity to photograph this wonderful old building.

This photo was taken with the Olympus OM-D E-M1 and M.Zuiko 12-40mm f/2.8 Pro. I processed the image as usual and then ran it through Nik Analog Efex with an old B&W filter applied. I think the result respects the subject. This is not an AI generated image.

I have been enamored lately with the concept of STORY: How we can become characters that move our lives forward, and how we can tell the stories of our imaginations in ways that only we see them. This is why I love self portraits - it allows me to be the person I dream of. A storybook character becomes as real as anything else in my life when I can create an image out of it. Such is the magic of art.

Character is like a tree and reputation like a shadow. The shadow is what we think of it; the tree is the real thing.

I guess someone wanted to practice their writing and traced the character for WALK.

this golden eagle portrait is dedicated to my friend Peter who`s birthday is on sunday...

Just wandered through the national park without any plans and preparation in an attempt to photograph the forest for the first time. Quite happy with my first result.

I've been thinking about this lately..and watching. How people are treated, how I treat people and why. Ya just never know what motivation people have or what hidden agendas at times.

And I've had this version of November Rain stuck in my head for about three days. I may need a lobotomy.
