Known throughout the world, Étretat is undoubtedly the pride of the Normandy coastline. With its narrow streets, its seafront, its small shops and its sunset on the incredible cliffs, Étretat proves to be a romantic little town.

Pardon the pun but needed a change of pace with my gallery. I know some peeps eat these guys, but I prefer fast food. And if you think because they are supposedly slow trying shooting one with a macro lens. Especially one with a big "S on it's shell ..... you should see the S-car-go.

We are finally starting to see some changes in the Ozarks as summer flows into fall... shorter days, a bit of crispness in the air, and a lot more color! Welcome, autumn!
The start of the weekend was subject of a significant change of the weather. Friday showed up with heavy rainfalls, today the temperature dropped to refreshing low twenties. The folks and the plants enjoyed both, not so the fish. Our afternoon fishing session ended with no score. Anyway, we had a great time at the lake with a couple of beers and a nice barbecue. Gross Aschen, Lower Saxony, Germany.

This African elephant was discovered in the Samburu region of Kenya. As you can see from the image its habitat is changing rapidly from an area that was once quite lush to an area that is now quickly becoming a desert as a result of a lengthy and ongoing drought. The climate crisis is happening now and is already having devastating impacts on the planet.

Ever changing light!
Mornings like this one justify why I sometimes just setup the tripod and stay rooted to the same spot for sometimes over an hour.
Watching the blue hour tones give way to yellows, oranges and reds until the sun rises and shows the natural greens of the countryside and blue from the clear sky!
The rolling mist just adds some lovely atmosphere and mood to the conditions around!

For a change, this is a new (outside!) photo, taken just a few days ago at the wonderful Britzer Garten, one of Berlin's biggest and most beautiful public parks (please check my album for more "Britz bliss", if you like).
For better dynamic range, I've used exposure bracketing (three images), pre-processed the images in DXO PhotoLab (sharpness and DeepPrime denoising only), from which I directly went into HDR Efex Pro to combine the images. I'm trying to get away from the annual Adobe subscription, and combining images from an exposure bracketing series in HDR Efex instead of Lightroom is one step into that direction. Unfortunately, whenever I think I can finally leave Adobe behind for good they come up with improvements such as the new "supersize" function (now also available in LR), a ton of new presets for LR, and other interesting stuff (and I'm still used to the LR/PS workflow, and the layers in PS). Well, maybe I'll be ready next year ;)
Extra sliding was done in Color Efex, where I added some "Brilliance and Warmth" and a tiny bit of "Contrast Color Range".

Today the Federal Republic of Germany is bidding farewell to our long-time Chancellor Angela Merkel with all due honor. She set a milestone because she was the first woman to hold this position in Germany. I think she did a good job of treating all the heads of state in the world with great diplomacy. Respect and thanks for 16 years of her life in which she served our country and is now going into well-deserved retirement!

Die Bundesrepublik Deutschland verabschiedet heute in allen Ehren unsere langjährige Bundeskanzlerin Angela Merkel. Sie hat einen Meilenstein gesetzt, denn sie war die erste Frau, die dieses Amt in Deutschland ausgeübt hat. Ich finde, sie hat eine guten Job gemacht, indem sie allen Staatsoberhäupter der Welt stets mit großer Diplomatie begegnete. Respekt und Dank für 16 Jahre ihres Lebens in denen sie unserem Land gedient hat und nun in den wohlverdienten Ruhestand geht!
