The Haväng dolmen is a stone chamber grave from the Neolithic, about 5,500 years old.
The tomb is located in Haväng on the east coast of Scania.
The tomb was covered in sand for hundreds, if not thousands of years and nobody knew of its existence.
It would not be until 1843 when a storm swept away the sand that for so long time had hid the beach's secret, and revealed the megalithic tomb known as Havängsdösen.
When excavations were made of the burial chamber in 1869, human skeletons and a flint ax were found. Some believe that the tomb may have been looted earlier, because it contained so few finds, but normally the finds are relatively few in these tombs.
Even though the storm of 1843 brought Havängsdösen to light, it remains much of a mystery even today.

This is inside the Nether Largie Burial Cairn in Kilmartin Glen. Thousands of years ago it where the Celts and the Picts would have buried their dead. Men, women and children would all have been buried in the feotal position.

Innisidgen Upper Burial Chamber, an 'entrance grave' from the Bronze Age. Of the 80 prehistoric chambered tombs on the Isles of Scilly this one on St Mary's is the best preserved. It is also known as 'The Giant's Grave'. 'Entrance graves' - named after their shape - are unique to the Isles of Scilly and West Cornwall.

It was great to finally take my girl up to the Great Chamber! I love the simplicity of this shot and it's one of the those places that needs a human subject. Even though it looks warm, temps were near freezing so she had to brave the cold wind. But the wind did add some nice movement to her dress!
The Melody Arch and the alcove are one of the great hidden gems in the Wave (Coyote Buttes North) area. It is not easy to hike up the mountain to access this scenic spot but super rewarding. This photo shows three windows of the alcove, including the right one as Melody Arch. My friend Han sits at the edge of a standing rock.
