Lake Montriond was created when part of the Nantaux mountain to the north-west collapsed. This geological event, which has not been dated with any certainty (between 4,500 years and 3 or 4 centuries!), caused a dam to form on the torrent that ran along the bottom of the valley, hence the formation of the lake.

E mentre, certe sere, stelle spente
s’ebber, nere tempeste, brezze e neve,
l’esser ch’è nelle teste crebbe greve
e s’erse nelle tenebre, fervente.
Mescè nelle certezze del presente
e sempre emerse, perché sempre deve
tesser tele segrete, benché breve,
e svender le eccellenze del credente.
Serve tenere deste le certezze
per vedere le crepe del temere,
emettere sentenze e prevedere
le vertenze leggere, grette e grezze.
L’etere dell’essenze belle e chete
beve fremente, e l’ebbrezze e le sete.

A 16th century fortress by the sea - Torre Mozza (Piombino - Livorno)
And while, some nights, opaque stars
s'ebber, black storms, breezes and snow,
the being that is in the heads has become heavy
and fell into darkness, fervent.
Mix in the certainties of the present
and it has always emerged, because it always has to
weave secret canvases, albeit short,
and sell off the excellence of the believer.
We must keep certainties alive
to see the cracks of fear,
make judgments and predict
laws of litigation, petty and crude.
The ether of beautiful and silent essences
he drinks quivering, and drunk and thirsty.

Large, stocky gull of the North Pacific. Generally fairly pale and uniform-looking; at all ages, note wingtips and back are approximately the same color. Takes four years for immatures to progress from mostly brown to fully white and gray adult plumage; intermediate plumages are often mottled and messy. Most immatures look frosty grayish-brown with smooth patterning. Found in coastal areas, including beaches, mudflats, and even city parks. Identification is complicated by frequent hybridization with Western, Herring, and Glaucous Gulls in various parts of range. Pure birds can be difficult to find and identify with certainty, and many intermediate birds are best left unidentified. (eBird)

The one certainty in life is that all things come to pass and all things change.
Just when you think it's the same story each day, one single decision can take us on an unknown journey of discovery.
Taken in another world where I am in prim heaven. Adjustments, new ways of doing things and a whole new world awaits me.
I hope you will join me soon and enjoy the fruits of my labour creating beautiful places for all to enjoy.

THE FIRST MORNING
It was not a morning like any other. It was the first. The horizon unfolded before us and the dawn within us. The story had yet to find its conclusion. And the movement inhabited me, as it inhabits all the living beings of our world and all the manifestations of the Universe…
__________
Everything is movement, evolution, transformation, destruction, and creation. A slow and linear movement or, sometimes, fast and unpredictable, of the order of rupture and creation. Everything is transient, ephemeral. On the human scale of time, we can only perceive the momentary consequences, the forms taken by the phenomena in transition during this very short period of time that human life lasts. In this shimmering world, certainties are only worth a moment.
If the enigma of life is hidden from us, we know that it is in it - in all its forms - that the marvelous resides, here in this living world, the Earth. Hence, our responsibility as humans is to co-inhabit our World with respect and consideration for all the other forms of life that have made us who we are. * After which, and only then, we will be prepared to reach the stars in search of other forms of life.
_____________
… The wind knows the secrets of passing time. He called out to me by my name, as he did for all forms of life marked by the same origin and inextricably linked to this living world: the time had come to undertake this vital Odyssey, here and now.

Don't mind me. I am from another planet. I still see horizons where you draw borders
Frida Kahlo
I borrow this phrase ...
By having awareness that the shadows are around us but with the certainty that around us there are infinite luminous horizons that infuse us with their light and positivity!
Around me there will continue to be people or situations that will try to build walls and shadows. That's life!
But I have learned (and continue to learn) to see and do not neglect the beauty around me (even in the little things) to defuse the shadows of those walls !!
So I try to move with lightness and irony towards small and large luminous horizons to feed my inner light :))

European Robin [Erithacus rubecula] male
In the snow, sleet, and big winds of Winter Storm Ciara, this wee robin made an appearance at The Pixies, patiently waiting in the queue for some sunflower hearts.
I’ve only ever seen one robin at The Pixies. This could be the same one as I’ve always seen as, after the dreadfully short thirteen month norm, some can live as long as nineteen years. I really hope it is the same one!
If you look closely, you may be able to see some tiny snow flakes on this guy’s wee head. I think think this guy is just beautiful.

I am really not sure of its identification, I have looked for it in my guides and on the internet but I have not been able to identify it with certainty, if someone with more experience and wisdom can clarify it for me, it would be great

Ophrys oestrifera subsp montis-gargani (Orchidaceae) 115 23
This orchid has been recognized from the Gargano peninsula for many years and until recently was known by several different names including O. cornuta and O. rhodostephane.
These uncertainties were eventually resolved in 2010 by a group of Dutch botanists headed by Van de Vijver and Van Looken who collected and formally described the orchid under the name of O. oestrifera ssp montis-gargani. Its distribution is not known with certainty but it has several stations within the Gargano peninsula and may well have a wider range on the south east coast of Italy. It is not however a common species and its presence is extremely localised.
It is an Ophrys of alkaline habitats and shows a preference for a stony, dry soil, usually with a significant degree of shade. In the four sites known to the authors it is growing either in the cover of a thick hedge or in two of the cases, in shadowy clearings within relatively dense mixed woodland. This preference for alkaline woodland renders O. montis-gargani vulnerable and it is becoming increasingly threatened by habitat loss due to deforestation.

This time last year I was enjoying the strange beauty of Arctic Norway. Obviously we wanted to experience the Northern Lights but given we were only in Norway for four days there was no certainty that we would. Fortunately late on our final night they appeared not perhaps as amazing as they can be but it was still an unforgettable experience.
The camera work as you will see was far from perfect and this image has the strangest perspective I have tried messing about with it in Lightroom but whatever I do it still looks odd. However I will settle for a less than perfect shot in this case given its something I may never witness again
THANKS FOR YOUR VISIT AND FOR TAKING THE TIME TO WRITE A COMMENT IT’S MUCH APPRECIATED.

The existence of the castle is documented with certainty only since 1275. Legend has it that on the site of the village of Monti arose the ancient city of Venelia, destroyed by the Lombards during their descent in Italy towards the middle of the seventh century. One side of the ancient church is the road that leads to the medieval manor once a garrison to defend the nearby via Francigena.
Getting a good view of a Razorbill on a trip to Bempton Cliffs is almost a certainty. I have found an online source which details their population increase during the 21st century. Seemingly on the stretch between Filey and Flamborough their population has increased from 5,000 pairs to 19,000 pairs in the years between 2000 and 2017. Many of these will make Bempton their nesting site.
Tis example was photographed right at the top of the 300 foot high cliffs and a few moments earlier was seen warding off an over inquisitive Jackdaw. In wasn't quite quick enough to capture that little tussle.

I don't know about you but there are days I'm out driving places and I just don't want to stop. Maybe it is the inability to travel, the desire to escape the daily grind, or the longing for adventure. Whatever the reason, the one thing I do know with certainty is I can't wait for the next opportunity to leave this town. Promise....I won't just randomly leave, I would definitely go home and grab the family and some roadtrip snacks first! :-)
Anyhow....this is a little window found on my last road trip that briefly landed me on a quiet beach on Random Island.
...................
The light is capricious, sometimes the sky acquires a beautiful caramel color, that's why this series of photos of sunrises and sunsets refers to "bites of light".
"Diluting the mist"
I awoke when the night was still a black mouth of despair, then, little by little, the light domesticated the thoughts, I wove a network of certainties that allows me to walk on the sharp and insecure edge of sanity. The day advances and you dilute yourself, just a silhouette, you stay under the layers of time. You stretch far and far away, you dilute yourself. Get out of the mist, break the blindness of not knowing, of not understanding.
