Entry for CCC XX small castle
The Civilian Conservation Corps built this picnic shelter in the 1930s, long before Congress established Theodore Roosevelt National Park in 1978.
Much of the park has its origins in a Depression-era program that purchased marginal and submarginal lands as a form of relief to ranchers and farmers facing bankruptcy from the agricultural depression. Some of those lands ended up in the national grassland system, including the Little Missouri National Grassland. Other lands ended up as part of the national park, which is mostly surrounded by Little Missouri NG.
A group shot of all 30 of my Colossal Castle Contest entries this year. Thanks everyone for your support over the last two months, and I would love to hear which entry was your favorite!
There's a note on each build linking to the full size photo.

My first entry to this year's CCC! While I'm really not a fan of the Teutonic Order's "Repent or die!" attitude towards other conflicting religions, the knights just look so freaking cool! ;)

For my very dear friend Carol who's had a bit of a bumpy ride recently. When you said "buy something for me" Carol, I bought this for you. Such a shame it has to stay in my garden:))))

Just over a week until the longest running contest in the LEGO community starts again! If you’re not familiar with the Colossal Castle Contest, it’s a large scale medieval contest hosted at classic-castle.com. You can familiarize yourself with the contest’s format by checking out the rules from last year, and this year’s categories and rules will be posted on November 1st in the classic-castle forum.
All of the builds in this collage were entries last year, and you can gain further inspiration by taking a look at the huge galleries John and I have put together with CCC entries from the past 16 years.
I'm donating a custom model prize again, so keep an eye out for that. However, I won't be attempting another Master Builder run, so you need not fear having your stream flooded by my builds this year :D
I hope to see plenty of epic entries from all of you during November and December!
