Tınaztepe Cave, one of the longest caves in the world

Tınaztepe caves are located in Seydişehir, Konya. The world's third, is Turkey's largest caves. Its total length is 22 km, and its navigable part is 1580 meters. It is a completely horizontal cave except the 64-meter descent at the end. It was opened in 2004 as Cave Recreation Facilities.

Located at the crossing of the Konya-Antalya Highway on the Taurus Mountains and discovered by the French scientist Michel Bakalowichz in 1968, the cave is an important natural wonder.

In addition to stalactites and stalagmites, Tınaztepe Cave offers a different environment to its guests with its unchanging heat in summer and winter in its open section.

Stalactites and stalagmites, a cave with a lake inside. The cave, where daily tours are organized due to the ease of transportation, fascinates those who see it. Tinaztepe actual length of 22 kilometers, one of Turkey's longest cave. One of the three few caves in the world

A view through Luon Cave in Ha Long Bay, which passes through a limestone karst island at this beautiful UNESCO Heritage Site. Small boats can pass under the stalactites that are reflected in the turquoise water in this image where you can see through to the light on the other side.

Fantastic Caverns was discovered in 1862 by an Ozarks farmer -- or more precisely, by his dog, who crawled through a small entrance in a hillside. It wasn't until five years after its discovery that the first exploration of Fantastic Caverns took place: twelve women from Springfield, answering a newspaper ad seeking explorers, ventured into the cave. Fantastic Caverns is one of more than 7,300 documented caves in Missouri, and more are still being discovered. Missouri is called The Cave State.

The iconic Batu Caves in Malaysia, a majestic interplay of culture, history, and nature, offers a breathtaking perspective of devotion and artistry. Standing tall at 42.7 meters, the golden Lord Murugan statue dominates the scene, a tribute to unwavering faith and Hindu tradition. Its brilliance is a stark contrast to the vibrant staircase leading to the limestone caves, a natural wonder formed over 400 million years.

This spiritual haven is more than a pilgrimage site—it's a timeless connection between the divine and the earthly. The intricate details of the temple architecture, nestled within the lush green cliffs, tell tales of resilience and unity. The empty courtyard, alive with pigeons, invites one to pause and reflect on the vastness of the universe and our place within it.

Batu Caves is a living monument that bridges ancient geological marvels and centuries-old human reverence, an ever-relevant reminder of the harmony between man and nature.

We spent an afternoon exploring the Little Huson Caves near Port McNeill on Vancouver Island. The caves feature limestone and rock arch formations and it was such an amazing place to explore!

Calinawan Cave got its name from the word linaw, a Tagalog term for "clear". It is said that during the 15th to 18th centuries, opposing parties used to convene inside the cave to settle disputes, thus, the name Calinawan.

This cave also served as a shelter and a hideaway from the Japanese during World War II. It was also in this cave where Japanese soldiers surrendered to the Liberation Forces.

The caves of Toulinguet, peninsula of Crozon

Cave is my interpretation of Antony Gormley’s installation last year at the Royal Academy. The colossal Cave recreates a highly abstracted human form in 100 tons of overlapping sheet steel. This filled the show’s penultimate space with a dark maze of walk-through chambers, which required the strengthening of the gallery floor.

This limestone cave carries an original native Indian name. Daylight enters in the two large chambers in the cave through a hole in the ceiling. The cave has a large population of bats. At dusk, the bats exit through the cave openings and roof-holes to forage and return to rest during the day.

Bears Cave (Romanian: Peștera Urșilor) is located in the Western Carpathian (Apuseni) Mountains, on the outskirts of Chişcău Village, Bihor County, Romania. The cave contains several complete skeletons and numerous bones of extinct cave bears (Ursus spelaeus), a species that disappeared more than 15,000 years ago. It seems that a big boulder slided and blocked the entrance in the cave. Approximately 140 cave bears were caught inside.

The cave was discovered in 1975. Its entrance is situated at an altitude of 482 m (1,581 ft) and the visited portion is about 1 km (3,300 ft) in length.

What lives within the cave and lurks below the waves?

I thought this was a really cool scene, and the cavern is larger than the picture might convey.

Not far from Eagle's Nest Rock are the Caves. From a small car park you can walk down to the beach and onto another extensive rock shelf; Around the corner are a couple of caves which were being explored by plenty of families. The rocks were a beautiful colour and are a known dinosaur fossil site. A Geological report states:

"From Inverloch northwest to Cape Paterson, the coastline is pre-Cainozoic sedimentary rocks (including an important dinosaur site). The rock is strongly jointed, and the cliff face and beach orientation are governed by the jointing trends. In places sea caves have formed from joint enlargements. Necks of Cainozoic basalt intrude the rocks of the shore platforms and low cliffs

The landscape photographer's version of a selfie. Enjoy the rare moment! This was one of the primary reason to visit Sedona and to think that I got to enjoy this all to myself. Not to take a selfie but to enjoy this impressive location. The hike was enjoyable as well. Did you notice how I framed a tall tree on the cliff opposite the cave opening?

Giant Chasm of Cabrespine. One of the largest caves in the world open to the public - 80 metres long and 220 metres high.

The Cumberland Gap includes this gem, the Gap Cave. Many may know it by its older name Cudjo's Caverns. It was once Gap cave but was chanced to Cudjo's Caverns after a popular book came out that features a cave called Cudjos. The owners tried to capitalize on the popularity by changing the name. When the NPS took over the site they changed it back. It hard to believe the cave looks as good as it does inside when you learn the past. Loads of tourists through here at a time when preservation was not understood, and they held parties and even plays down there!

This is one of the larger features in the cave. It was a pain to shoot because you were on a tour, so you can't stop, there is no lighting, only these massive bright flashlights that EVERYONE has, and the tour guide is always in the way. Oh, and no tripods allowed. So this is the result of several images to exclude beams of light and hot spots, and people. Oh, and thank goodness for the new lightroom denoise feature. This was 10,000 ISO for goodness sake. Came out pretty good considering all that nonsense.

Let me know what you think.

There are a lot of sea caves around Rum but not many are easily accessible except from the sea. We had to wait for the tide to go out here to get round a small headland on foot. The red rocks are the billion year old Torridonean sandstone.

Gomantong Cave is located in the lower Kinabatangan area and the caves have become a major tourist attraction in Sabah. Gomantong is the largest limestone hill and the most important source of edible birds nets in Sabah.

Ruakuri Cave tour is the longest guided underground tour in NZ. Large caverns and many types of formations can be seen here. I plan to upload a few of the areas that I found interesting or noteworthy.
