Nepeta racemosa, the dwarf catnip or raceme catnip, syn. N. mussiniii,is a species of flowering plant in the mint family Lamiaceae, native to the Caucasus, Turkey and northern Iran. Growing to 30 cm (12 in) tall by 45 cm (18 in) wide, it is a herbaceous perennial with aromatic leaves and violet or lilac-blue flowers in summer

And pink rhododendron flowers at the back ground.

My parents' cat Loch Ness Monster doesn't love any other kind of treat except for catnip. After emerging from the deep, Loch Ness is finally in a place (both mentally and physically) where she feels like she won't be persecuted by any tourists who happen to want to spend all their vacation stalking. (It's hard to be a gorgeous female!) Anyway, now that Loch Ness (Nessy for short) has gotten comfortable, her current hobbies are hiding out in suitcases, rolling around in catnip, and sticking her head into any spiderwebs she can find. We like to call her "Messy Nessy."

Happy Purrsday everyone!

The photo was taken a few minutes after the one I posted yesterday which showed Sethi in the catnip. Apparently Sethi is one of those cats on which catnip has a strange effect, I hope he didn't have a headache later. :)

I love the way Benji's back paws curl together when he sleeps.

Thank you so much for viewing, faveing, following and commenting on my photos. It is truly appreciated!

The Dragon has a new toy, a catnip banana. I saw this banana in photos which Flickr friends had taken of their cats and the cats obviously loved it. As the Dragon is a catnip addict, I decided to buy one for him too. It arrived yesterday and he fell in love with it right away. He plays with it, carries it around and sleeps on it. At least for now the catnip banana is his new favourite toy.

She knows the catnip is stored in this cupboard and often takes it upon herself to find it. I had to put it in a glass jar as she rips everything else open.

This is Drew Cat sitting on the new catnip pillows under construction. No catnip in them yet, but since he couldn’t sit next to the sewing machine, this was his second choice. :). #grassforcats Etsy.com/shop/DianeWillowDesigns. #classycatscatnip

Is this how our cats see what to our eyes is generally a rather unassuming and drab plant. Lol

I'm waving a stem of catnip near the camera, to get Lisa's attention. She enjoys nibbling on it.

Raerae looves catnip, but after I put a small broken branch of catnip on my, I mean Raeraes cushion, she slept for 20hrs solid. I'm wondering if she needs an intervention :-D

So this is my side business. I love to sew and I have bags of scrap fabric from various projects over the years. My cats love catnip and some of these scraps are only big enough for small pillows. They make great gifts. That's my girl, Kerry modeling for me. :) Found at Etsy.com/shops/DianeWillowDesigns. #GrassForCats.

It's Caturday! I had to tease Archie into the photoshoot by offering liberal quantities of 'catnip drops' treats and, well frankly, they had quite an effect! Wishing all of my Flickr friends a great weekend of photography - enjoy!

While dreaming under the Myrtle trees one summer day, my mind and heart was spirited away...to a magical kingdom of cats;

Where they walked on all fours, had quaint cozy houses, dressed in fancy clothes, and gave gifts to one another such as juicy mouses.

A princess landed where she did not want to be, but a dashing young baron kept her close company. He encouraged her to believe in herself and she began to trust this advice and made her way through this labyrinth we call life.

They narrowly escaped together on a bright sunny day. She was ever so fond of the Baron and wished he would stay. He was fond of her too, but circumstances caused him to float... gingerly away.

She was confident, however, that this was no ordinary friendship or cat. One day the winds of change would turn in her favor and he would show up... with a tip of his hat.

Fair weather friends come and go, but when someone stays...you just know; you've got a friend for all seasons. For those friends who show up in my life, you are greatly appreciated. Thanks for waiting during my strife.

Thank you all Flickr friends for your kind favs and comments, I will show up soon to view your work and sample your catnip.

All three kitties enjoyed a pile of catnip today.

Love the Yeowww! rainbow! Added a year later to Happy Caturday 5 August 2023 “Tongues and Noses”. (I had eye surgery this last week and no Tikki photo time since the week’s theme went out.)

Leo and Charlie are back for another short visit over the weekend. I bought some catnip pillows for them because I know they love them. Especially Leo spent quite a lot of time licking and cuddling his pillow and I seized the opportunity to take a few photos.

Happy Caturday !

Otis got really whacky this time, when I brought in fresh catnip for the crowd. Maybe it was the fumes in addition to his sprig.

I think I might have to take Simon to Catnip Anonymous!

I include this hard-to-read image to give context for the next four. Otis (cat) was sitting up on his haunches, resting his front legs on the edge of the planter while he corralled catnip with his paws.

He's wearing the tiger-striped vest because he is "on a walk".

I don't have enough fresh catnip at the moment to have a sprig for every one, but we've got the dry stuff! The floor needs to be cleaned, anyway, so I sprinkled dry catnip all over the kitchen floor and counter.

Posted for the Happy Caturday theme "Summer".

Summer is catnip season. We have several catnip plants as they self-seeds and appear everywhere. If I let them they would take over the garden. Of course the cats know every single plant but the one in this photo is Sethi's current favourite. :) Happy Caturday !

You'll find me on Etsy.com at DianeWillowDesigns. These pillows are not yet filled, but they will be stuffed with poly fiberfill and organic catnip.

but it smells better to cats...

According to Heidi. The weather has been fine and a big package with various plants for our rooftop garden arrived as well. Almost half of said plants are for Heidi (grass, valerian, catnip) and they all come wrapped in hay for protection. This is always the most interesting part of such deliveries and the hay will become a cozy outdoor cat bed for the summer months. Heidi is currently outdoors changing how I laid the hay; I just never seem to get it right.

I'm going to try trapping tonight again. I didn't catch the cat I was after last night though he/she was there. It went into my trap again, but only about 2/3 of the way in. I will get it, sooner or later. I didn't lay a trail of bait, so I will try that tonight. Sometimes they need a taste of the food to entice them that last bit of the way into the trap....
